  • Witch JS model is that ?

  • God that guitar is nice.

  • Joe says nothing about jason he couldn't say about Sloshes playing which is guitarted or anyone else's Jasons technique was his knowledge and sweep arpeggios non stop nobody watched jason at the 'stone' went home and learn his technique no one comes close to making masterpiece like air' There is one' who is monarch of the entire race, BUCKETHEAD

  • @dannyhood66

i have no idea what you just said, but i agree with the last word.

  • @melodiousMO Yeah i hear you' A few years ago mentioning bucketheads name on a different guitar player page comments were so full of hate i couldnt believe it i thought buckethead was known respectfuly because his playing on 'colma' there is way more. He didnt sound like other rock guitarist on acoustic, his peaceful apmospheric playing was not only feeling but deep' hits the core sole of human emotion, He has a variety of styles more than any guitar shredder, Records 4 albums a year

  • He looks very stoned.

  • @karwash2011

karwash2011 writes: "He looks very stoned."

Do you think Joe Satriani looks stoned in this interview clip? I don't see that at all.

  • Well said Joe!

  • what pick-ups is he using in there

  • What he says is not true about technique. Just watch the 1000's of lack of technique bullshit guitar players on youtube. Music starts with technique first, then you can add your personality and that includes slow /simple as well as fast/complicated music. If you're not playing the notes correctly no amount of emotion will create great sounding music.

  • @evilclown99 I agree with you to an extent. Your capacity to express yourself can only extend as far as your ability to make it happen. Technique is very important. But from the very outset musicality is essential. Music starts first and foremost with music, never should this ever take a backseat to technique. Techniques overimportance is the very reason why only .5% of the best guitarists have any real musicality. They become echos of each other thus the guitar community is generic

  • @Blitzbok I couldn't agree more. Musicality is by far the most important factor. Nothing impresses me in the world of guitar any more (technique wise). At one time, I may have been impressed by someone being able to alternate pick 16th notes at 600+ bpm (check out John Taylor) - but not anymore.

  • @evilclown99 What he said is true. Even if you can flawlessly cover even the likes of Jason Becker, that in itself does not make you a special guitarist. Jason was special because he displayed dazzling techniques amidst beautiful musical compositions... that being said, by the time he was debilitated, he was not even close to fully blossoming as a musician. I guess what Joe is saying is that all these new YouTube guitar hero's... just aren't of the same caliber...

  • Not many guitarist could watch jason becker's technique on stage then go home and play it, To me jason's technique is arpeggios sweep picking his hands just eat the guitar neck not stopping cleaning , His attack was killer, his technique was his ear with knowledge of theory. What guitarted players can create piece's songs like 'air'

  • So are you Chinese or Japanese, Joe?

  • What the fuck is he saying?

  • @Benzadeus He's saying it's important to be an emotional player as well as a technical player.

  • Joe Satriani...The man speaketh great things about the greatest person ever.

  • Some of Satch's albums "Flying In Blue Dream" "Surfing With The Alien" "The Extremist". That is al..

  • now that's marketing :D he "subtly" displays his prototype JS Ibanez and his new signature Marshall :D

  • Good god that's a nice guitar!

  • And that's why no one plays tapped passges like EVH, even though many guitarists can slay him from a technique perspective.

  • He looks so stoned though haha.

  • thanks for stating the obvious

  • can't wait for the dvd hails jason

  • what joe said in this video is just the greatest truth

  • most beautiful guitar I have ever seen

  • Joe Satriani on Cacophony in 2010:

"I really only think of a few people who were dedicated to it [shred] fully. I remember listening to one of those records by Cacophony [a late-Eighties metal band formed by guitarists Marty Friedman and Jason Becker] and thinking, I have nothing to do with this. I’m not knocking it, because I thought it was remarkable—like, “Wow, these guys are truly shredding.” At the same time, I couldn’t relate to it." <- He clearly has been hearing those albums again.

  • @DreamEclipse Yup, thats it.

  • 0 dislikes :)

  • That guitar looks sweet. Is this going into production? It might be the first JS I'd buy! I was always hoping he'd do that.. with that body contour, strat pickup layout. Suits me better.

  • nappy arms

  • Yeash sure everybody can play Paganini at age 17.

  • I was waiting for him to play something but realised by 0:45 that it wasn't gonna happen.

  • Marshall JVM represent!!!

  • That's why David Gilmour is so amazing though what he does by note and chord isn't so hard his technique and emotion he puts into his music makes it so unique and memorable and that's when a musician reaches that whole other level, individuality is seldom seen in shred that's why guitar player's outside the metal/ hard rock realm don't like it and also why it's hard to tell most jazz musician's from each other and blues is so beat up by everyone that lack hard work and ingenuity it's sad.

  • Listen to him, children.

  • Satriani's words are so true and so holy! Unluckily there is such a great deal of people who haven't understood what Joe Satriani has said and will always thing that technique means all while they have no blues in their veins.

  • Joe is hiding his horns under his hat :P

  • intro song?

  • This is interesting. Joe literally dishes Cacophony in an interview he gave this year on Guitarist saying they where all shredding and no feeling in their playing...... Maybe he heard the records AGAIN????

  • @irmasil3 Link to the interview?

  • @DreamEclipse I have the issue but I must search for it.If I remember correctly it was the same issue in which he was talking about chickenfoot, with him on the cover and Hagar.. I have all the Guitarist issues packed but now that you are mentioning it I will search it up and inform you. However, I am certain of his words because i am a huge fan of Jason and Marty and still remember the column. It was a small part of the interview, where he described the way he plays, influences e.t.c.

  • i cannot believe no one has disliked this

  • beautiful beautiful guitar. I have always wanted a blue JS with a maple board.

  • It's the notes that are either side of the shred that makes the players music either triumph or fail. JB had it, JS has it

  • -3 -3

  • @ahinko

thx for the reply, do you know what PU are those? I always wanted to have S S S on my guitar, SD hotrails B&N, no idea on middle. any suggestion?

  • NO DISLIKES! FUCK YEAH

  • guitar heroes praising the guitar god!

  • what model is the guitar Joe has here?

  • JS with S S S pickups?

  • @gitariscryo those look like humbuckers in single coil size tho :p

  • @ahinko humbuckers Only in the sense that they buck the hum. That is all. They sound just like single coils.

  • You made a mistake, That is not joe, Thats Lord Voldermort!

  • @TalkPwnTV hahahahaha, it´s true!!!!

  • im outside surfeing with the alien

  • Omg i love this ibanez so much remind me of Jason's "Perpetual Burn" Hurricane!

  • i hope diamond dave got interviewed for this movie-hes always had the heads up when it comes to real guitarists

  • @unhombretansolo dude i aint a kid and dont start me on what plying guitar is about ffs

  • RonnieBora...what a tool you are...why dont you post a video and show us how good you are .... na... just shut up

  • he spent 4 seconds talking about a dude that he didnt even name, nice work satch

  • @MonteHoopla

Joe was interviewed because he recorded the guitar parts for Jason on a song called 'Electric Prayer For Peace' which was on Jason's latest album 'Collection'. We wanted to interview musicians who recorded Jason's compositions to gain insight on the process which is why we also interviewed Steve Vai.

Joe also headlined Jason's benefit show in San Francisco in March. And lastly, Jason wanted him to be interviewed for this movie.

  • @JasonBeckerMovie A better question is , why wouldn't he be interviewed? Joe's like the Yoda of guitarists. :)

  • @JasonBeckerMovie

I just wanted to express..... that Joe how ever great he is can never even walk on the same dirt as Jason in my opinion.

I used to help do a local cable show in Detroit called Fret Board Frolics helping interview and jam with some the greatest player to grace our lives and Jason has taken it to a level all his own. He has achieved every persons dream of creating a legacy that will live long after we are all gone.

    Sincrely, Joe Genereux

    Detroit Guitar Mafia

  • @MonteHoopla Moron

  • @MonteHoopla could you expand upon that?

  • @MonteHoopla Why you're mind is so closed to another amazing guitarists is beyond you and me.

  • @acgm046 "your". Sorry for the typo.

  • @MonteHoopla um because joe satriani IS THE SHIT???

  • @MonteHoopla because your a faggot

  • that has to be the prettiest satch guitar i've ever seen

  • @lralbrecht ah , i'm not alone thinking that way . That's really a cool-looking guitar. I bet it plays awesome .

  • @GroovyGuitar02 I admit it. I spent over an hour looking for a video of him playing that to no avail.

  • @lralbrecht I agree. but have you seen the sach guitar with the surfing alien moulded on it. I seen it in a shop an its umbeilevibly buitiful.

  • PERPETUAL BURN by jason becker

  • awesome clip. does anyone know the name of the intro music?

  • If both Vai and Satriani have good things to say, then so do I. :)

  • @ricochetlaugh Technique and a song are two different things. He wasn't saying anyone can learn an insane song, he was saying that, with enough work, anyone can learn how to tap, or sweep picking.

  • @ricochetlaugh stfu -.-

  • @ricochetlaugh yeah sach is just lucky he got so well known its like he fluked it. sach is only good at writing rythems. he always repeats that stupid fast blues lick in all of his songs. sach u should thank the heavens that ppl like you cause I really dont think that much of you{him}

  • @sgtcaco When he finds out you don't think much of him, I'm sure he will cry himself to sleep that night.

  • @Gregorypeckory sounds like your the only one crying fuk head

  • @sgtcaco hahaha... u must be another of those bitter headed beginners who never could work hard enuf to be able to shred... look dude... keep practicing... and u will be able to eventually play almost all songs out there... then u will know how much more there is to composing on a guitar than just mere shredding...

  • @RonnieBora you have no idea . I have a band an we play instrumentals an I have been playing since I was 12 but Im not hear to brag about my own achievments on guitar but I was entertained by your post . If you listen to sach as much as I have you can see the simplicity and I aint in any way a better song maker than sach cause I work for a livin and dont have the time but Im happy with what I have learnt . and it would prollty make you jelious!

  • @ricochetlaugh wow... i dont get how nooby comments like these even exist.... Are u jokin dude?? at the level where jason and joe are.... technique is not even a barrier... joe can easily play any becker song and becker can easily play any joe song... but both have got their own heavenly unique sound... thats why they are gods!!

  • @RonnieBora but anyway... everyone can do joe's stuff.. but its a little bit harder to play jason songs..

  • @RonnieBora OMFG!! asif sach can play any becker song WTF are you on about. Becker is a child prodigy musical master and you sound like 15 year old wanna be. sach would ,nt even be able to play altitudes you fuk head. you have somthing on your top lip bro , its called bullshit an you speak it fluintly! if you think what you say you must be one shit musician lol fuck head

  • @sgtcaco u r right. becker did master technique at a very young age, whereas satch did it later on... but now at this level both can play anything. Even me or many other 16 year old guitarists can play altitude, let alone satch... search youtube... u will see....even i used to think like u when i was technically weak. Someday when you are able to master guitar technique... then u will see my point... so stop arguing and practice buddy.

  • @RonnieBora copy that ghost rider but technique is endless and we are all evolving . are your seriously positive sach can play becker style. I really beg to differ and I will waist some time exploring your phononmen . sach is more of a rock blueser ,. becker creats master peices so I am tottaly amused at your thought level. how would you know im technecly weak. I would love to jam with you to see what your level is cause you sound over confident yet I think I would whoop your ass.

  • WHEN IS THIS FILM COMING OUT!!!

  • wow. my idol talks about my other idol. this is as good as it gets.

  • wtf Lord Voldemort

  • @baasteta Holy S. You just made made my day. I always thought that Voldemort looked like J.S. and nobody else I asked about it thought the same.

  • Does anyone knows the model of this SSS Ibanez guitar?

  • @darkwood030174 Actually it seems to be an HHH guitar: the pups are humbuckers disguised as single coils. He has one of them on his JS2400 model which allows him to have a 24-fret neck without having to move his neck pup further down (/watch?v=XttCY0mw6AI).

  • Lord, what is that lick playing during the intro & outtro??

  • @ecaravello

it's the intro from perpetual burn

  • Jason is cool and his dad rocks!

  • Thats right.

  • Joe is awesome and very inspiring like Jason

  • awesome words!

  • Well said Joe!

  • can't wait to get my copy!!!!!!!

  • guitar heroes praising guitar heroes. we love it.

  • That guitar looks so nice. And he's right, Jason's nature really shines through in his songs.

  • This film is gonna be Most Excellent!

  • I can't wait to see the whole movie! We all love you Jason!!!!

    Peace & Love
