  • Fake!

  • you guys are part of it somewhere. anyway my statement still stands about this video not following the rules and being confusing. you may not seem to see these arguments as valid because of the clouding arguments but they are in fact.

  • Please stop. Please take this silly arguing elsewhere than under our spot.

  • i like it. anytime we can spark an open (albeit hidden) dialog, i think we have created a success.

  • your accusations make no sense. As for lego and tralbry i dont know if they are the same person but it wouldnt make much sense to post entries under two diff IDs. i know you are flawed though when you attached ME to them lol. You are wrong. Some people just like contests...please go re-watch CSI now..

  • Hey, my bad euroskip. I didn't mean for my bro to stir anything up on here. I've told him not to post anything on other's videos from now on lol. And I agree that entertaining them first is important then to give them the fact...to let their guards down. But I do agree that there is no fact in here. I love the animation though.

  • Out of curiosity sahy555 why do you feel so strongly about the rules? "...[I] do believe in giving a client what they ask for and following rules." What do you care? No offense but it's a bit much for a youtube contest. Is it b/c you have a friend or family member who has a spot in this contest (like Sheppiano) and you are defending their spot? If so, let's see it and generate a conversation about that spot. What is your favorite spot and why? Let's see the bar to which you hold this spot.

  • BryanLeggo is Tralby is Sahy is Avonanon. This tool has uploaded videos under the name Bryan Leggo and Tralby. ONE of Tralby's numerous videos is close to being okay. The rest are amateurish, incoherent, horribly scored or pretty boring. Leggo has maybe one that is okay. This is the kind of guy that would proudly accept a gold medal if all the other contestants were killed in a bus crash. He's a loser more concerned with everyone else rather than himself.

  • At first I thought you were a hack doing Kiss's dirty work but now I realize you're an idiot. Last time: our videos were done by a group of young people and BL was just one of the advisors. Sahy was NOT part of our group. Since he insulted our videos before you did I imagine he cares even less about your opinion on that than I do. If you disagree (as I do) with his remark about the rules then try doing it on the merit of THAT issue.

  • looks like sheppiano beat me to it: you don't have to have a video in the contest to appreciate the rules.

  • I work at an ad agency and I just wanted to add some perspective to help Sheppiano and sahy555 understand what euroskip and sarahsandman are saying. We are as creatives constantly wrestling with the most effective way to communicate a message. Do you entertain the people and give them just one thought to remember? Or do you go for the hard sell? I personally have found that you need to entertain first.

  • But YOU DO HAVE A VIDEO IN THE CONTEST BRYAN, I mean TRALBY, I mean AVONANON.... or whatever name you are posting under at this moment, you disgruntled no talent.

  • I'm not saying I side with sahy555 I just understand their point because my bro has made some videos for this contest in my profile.

  • Yes, you (the competitors) did not follow the rules like most of us (anyone involved in the contest). Yes I consider myself involved in the contest to a certain extent even though I have no video.

  • I think it is important to note that only part of our team works for Green Team. This was not a company project, but a personal project that brought together animators, designers, artists, writers, and musicians who care about communication that affects positive change for society and the environment. We are catalysts for change in and out of our professional careers.

  • You're right, it didn't that's why I never said it was against the rules. I still feel though that you did not follow the rules about using facts about SmartPower. You didn't have to clog it but they wanted SOMETHING, that is why they gave us those four facts.

  • ok, but you said "us," where is your spot?

  • Also I think it is kind of cheap that this comes from a corporation called GreenTeam. I understand everyone's concern for the environment are are not measured by proffesionalism, but why enter a consumer generated media contest?

  • i don't think it said anywhere that we could not be involved in communication or in the environment. on the contrary, should we just sit back and not be involved in anything we can get our hands on? this was not a company project, this was a group of people that have devoted their professional lives (and personal projects) to making a difference. we are all on the same team here. you don't get it, ok. back off, move on.

  • Hey, thanks for the polite response. My interest in this contest comes with my passion for the consumer generated media craze. I found out about it right here on YouTube. I don't believe spots crowded with stats either but I do believe in giving a client what they ask for and following rules.

  • I think it is important to note that commercials are most effective when they grab viewers attention and spark interest. The spot should drive viewers to the website for more extensive information. I'm don't believe lots of statistics are the answer to drive the call to action.

  • Thanks for all your feedback, sahy555. Good discussions are appreciated. You are really interested in this contest it seems. May I ask how you found out about this and what sparked your commitment to the cause? Would love to hear more.

  • sahy555 IS BRYAN LEGGO. He is also TRALBY. HE IS AVONANON. HE IS A LUNATIC.

  • Also, rules state: Must include facts about SmartPower. You haven't done that. You said that not all energy is created equal but what does that tell us about SmartPower. I know it kinda sounds picky but you didn't follow the rules. You'll probably say that the facts are implicit but nobody will know that.

  • Actually power doesn't go from the electric company to the consumer, although we tend to think of it that way, as a liquid flowing in one direction. This is cute, simple animation but 50 reviews that AVERAGE 4 stars? That seems a bit revolutionary, if you know what I mean....

  • This is good but smart power is about being REAL so to me animation seem's contradictory.

  • omg this is great, its the best one.

the thing is some people wont get it.. so there should be like the light coming on in the end to show that the power was coming from the windmill.

  • Problem is: Not everyone will understand by watchthing this that "you know energy does not go to windmills" or that you were going to do another couple spots that covered more than just wind energy. What you put out there is the only thing people will see and you will not be able to explain that to them like this :-/

  • Hey sahy555, I don't think you're giving people enough credit. At all.

  • Oh and wargeb I think that mrpapageorgio688 was referring to Frank Luntz' diabolical renaming of estate tax to death tax and other propoganda changing the vernacular used to make it seem more or less threatening...

  • What can an estate tax be called that would make this most horrid of all taxes palatable to you? Death Tax isn't horrible enough sounding. How about, destroying families tax? How about the 'why work to see that your family is taken care of just to have some anti-family leftist take it tax? How about, "why in the hell does my hard earned money get distributed to people I don't care about tax? By all means, feel free to correctly characterize the estate tax.

  • Confirmation of your simplistic view. The point was that Luntz needed to manipulate the language to villify what is just like any other taxed income. Sorry to tell you this, but your taxes are used to help people you don't care about all the time, e.g. when police respond to a crime. That's because civilized people agree on the idea of a common good served by police, fire and other institutions. So stop whining that you may not get as rich on your inheritance as you'd like.

  • MY simplistic view??? The monies heired to ones family has BEEN TAXED ALREADY!!!!!!!!! But by all means, continue your crusade to have the government confiscate as much private money as possible. You wouldn't care, you're one of these losers who thinks fair is a euphenism for "spread the misery." Show me someone who looks at taxes gleefully and I'll show you a bitter loser.

  • To respond to sahy55 we would actually like to do a campaign of 3 spots. One wind, one solar, and one tidal. We have all of the footage and would just have to change the last frames basically. Glad you guys are talking about it though. Thanks for the insightful feedback. I know the contest only called for one but I don't see why the smartpower people would mind getting 3 for the price of one. Peace.

  • Increasing awareness of the relationship between user and source deepens ownership of our actions. Then from this conscious mind shift, we can begin to switch to healthier alternatives. Interesting statistics become heavy and lose meaning without a stong foundation of awareness.

  • Thanks for the feedback everyone. We are aware that power does not go to windmills. However, we approached this more conceptually than literally...addressing the fact that most people don't think about where electricity comes from. So to us, it was important to "trace" an action to its source. It's a simple concept but the connection is critical and powerful.

  • BY FAR the best one I've seen so far. What is the rest of this CRAP! We're supposed to save the planet with bad ads while the republicans have "death tax," "climate change," and "hard work?"

You guys better win, or we're doomed.

  • ( Uhhhh..psssst the republicans are against the death tax - the democrats are in favor of wealth redistribution, and a major part of that philosophy is very punitive estate taxes. You have that backwards. Like this video. Power comes FROM the windmills, it doesn't GO TO THEM.)

  • i dig it. good luck.

  • nice. The movement helped keep my attention. I agree with your sentiment of trying to create interest for people to visit the website. good luck man

  • super! excellent story

  • I don't think this is confusing at all! I mean, its about the choice between regular power and cleaner, more environmental options (like WIND, for example!) I like the animation - it's simple and really beautiful. Plus, the music is perfect. Don't believe these haters, euroskip, this was really well done.

  • thank you kindly! :)

    -Ljova (music)

  • Still, the request for the ad was not to JUST tell them about wind energy. In fact in one of the posts on the board somebody asked that and the contest holders said it is fine but would probably not be regarded as highly by the judges. Understandably so.

  • I love it. Great music and visuals. So with almost 500 views today...I think you get the big pressie! ;)

  • Love the simplicity. I don't need a bunch of facts to get the idea. Nice moves, euroskip, nice moves.

  • thanks for all the comments, guys. 30 sec is not much time, so we went the simple route just trying to intrigue you enough to get the broad scope, then go to the website.

  • I agree concentrating on one aspect is important mikeyragtime. I just think that the ONE thing should have been more broad to cover more of what SmartPower is. Like a couple others I have said on here. SmartPower is more than just wind energy and people need to know that. I love the animation and concept. You should have just had the lines going to a windmill, the sun, and maybe a river/pond. Just my 2 cents.

  • yeah pretty sweet. love the aesthetic, love the idea, love the simplicity.

  • I like the animation and music .. but sometimes a good idea suffers because we can't work around a hurdle of logic. Power runs FROM the producer, not to it. But maybe that doesn't matter for this presentation.

it's a fun one. Good job.

  • i love it... makes things so clear!

  • great! refreshing! fun!

I like the idea of a series that covers each of the renewable energy options....

  • lol its sweet ^_^ 5 stars!!

  • Cool. But this ad makes me think SmartPower is just wind power

  • Right, abd although it visually ties home electricity with wind I'm not sure anyone will get what the whole smartpower agenda is. Will people think they need windmills? It's a little too focused but I love dteh animation. Wish I could do it.

  • I find it refreshing that the ad concentrates on one aspect, rather than trying to stuff a whole PowerPoint into 30 seconds - maybe it could be an animated series? that'd be cool. love the animation (music's cool, too).

  • simple and sweet. nice work.
