Slash also did drugs which shouldn't be forgotten, something Axl was extremely against. When you're there on heroin, you may be able to play guitar well (which there are many videos of him messing up) but you're also not all there and while Axl's not all there in a different kind of way, it certainly wasn't drugs that made him the way he was. The problem (and obviously amazing quality) with GNR is that they are all handfuls in their own ways. But they make great music so problems easily arise.

You're right, there are fewer of us around....but with bands like Shinedown, nickleback, etc. rock still does have a heartbeat. Just GOTTA make sure the bands that make old fashioned rock get sales

You know, one guy you almost never hear mentioned in all this Axl vs Slash stuff is Izzy. From what I've ascertained over the years, Izzy was a large (and perhaps predominant) part of the song writing/creative backbone of GNR, and yet, the dude seems to be roundly ignored in all the modern GNR hoopla. And all the while, Izzy is enough of a gentleman to stay out of all the crap slinging. I say--forget Axl, forget Slash. Go Izzy.

Without Axl,GNR wouldn't have existed.Without his ballads and songwriting expertise,GNR wouldn't have been this big.He still wrote some great songs on Chinese Democracy,shame that biased minds and nostalgic fans did not appreciate it but he is still one of the best songwriters out there and with a new album coming out soon,he'll prove it again,why he is the sould of GNR.
