aside from say... his lack of playmaking ability and what some could call questionable man to man defense, he lacks nothing. Consider his age, he's actually ahead of Michael at the same age, and it's not even close. I don't think he'll be as great.. but he'll be much closer than Lehype James... that's all I'll say

though he'll never be able to post up someone of the same height in the nba at his weight, he'll be able to post up many smaller sf's that cover him, and offensively he's got a versatile set of moves, can pass the ball, can shoot, dunk, and score creatively once he gets in the paint; the man to man defense will come but durant aint one-dimensional. you want one dimensional? go look at a jj reddick highlight reel, which usually just ends up being jumper, jumper, jumper, jump... yawn

I've been sayin it since this past college basketball season that Kevin Durant should have been the #1 pick, but noooooo "you gotta take the big man", "he's the safe pick", "he's the sure thing".....yeah either that or take the guy who was already limited offensively and is more than likely(and unfortunately) going to have an injury plagued career over a 6'9 and maybe still growing, offensive assassson. 6'9 and a half... but by the end of his growth, it's not out of the question to think he might be 6'10 and a bit... with some serious guard skills... a player who can redefine a position... ala Magic. I don't think it's a stretch to call him the most talented 18 year old in the history of this world... I think the only other player who could even be close is Lebron.

for your info, I've never compared a guy to Jordan. I've once said Anthony Parker would remind some people of Jordan, in the sense that he was a two way player who's jumper was patterned after Jordan, and the fact that the dude's a pretty nice dunker is just bonus, and maybe Kobe.. noone else.. ever

There is no way, Greg Oden is ever option numero uno on an NBA champion. His Career may very well compare favorably to Zo or the Admiral when he's done, if his wrist allows him to go that far. The Hakeem and Shaq comparisons are SO stupid... the Durant comparison to Jordan isn't made because he's not a very similar player, he's taller, better rebounder, alaala, not as atheltic, but his impact will be that of a Jordan in my opinion.

I see red flags like his mental toughness, his lack of will to dominate, his leg uneveness, and his wrist.I just never EVER see him being better than an allstar. I mean, that is a VERY good player, but if you think this is going to be "the guy" on a championship team, put down the crack pipe.

The comparison to Bowie is not so much how they compare as players, it's how they compare in terms of hype. Bowie was supposed to be GREAT. But the injuries stopped his career. I have no doubt he was destined to have a brilliant career had those injuries not happened. Oden is a physical monster, a man who was simply physically ahead of everyone he's ever faced.

I've been watching him since his days as Oakhill... I feel I see greatness in him, and I see greatness in very few players. I'm a Raptor fan and I don't even see greatness in all star Chis Bosh. God players become great players in the last 2 minutes of a basketball game, or in game 7's.

Yeah I see potential for greatness for Bargnani, as well as Durant, and perhaps a player like Tyrus Thomas as well (sticking to the last 2 drafts alone). Outside of that I'm just not sure if there is any "great" player.
