Positive PPD does not necessarily mean you have active TB, it could mean you have been exposed to it. The next appropriate step to be done after is a CH X-ray to make sure you are clear, or AFB smear and culture to further assure the doctor.
But I have seen patients with positive PPD and had negative results after further testings were done.
