  • Thanks for the uploaddd

  • i coudl watch this movie over and over again, thanks for the post, brings back so many memories

  • Love this film has anyone seen that they are apparently making a 3D sequal, i am so looking forward to it, cos you know the words Sequal and 3d always mean something good.

  • One of my all time favorite movies. I love the Chamberlain's whine. One of the best endings ever!

  • when they draw the power from the crystal they remind monstar from silverhawks

  • Has there been any word on the planned sequel?

  • @georgeowain It got shelved. :(

  • This is my all-time favorite movie!

  • God, I love the Skeksis. So much personality, so awesome looking so EVIL! (:

  • Jim Henson Was The Best! Great Movie!

  • What a beautifully made piece of cinema. Jim Henson and his crew were a master creative team. The 80's turned out the best puppeteering movies, The Labyrinth, The Never Ending Story and so on. They really don't make them like this anymore. Boo to the computer age! We're all so jaded by it that nothing impresses us anymore.

  • me like this movie, secrets it has yes!!

    see--crets

  • Excellent as always.

  • the skesies terrified me when I was younger and they still do now that I'm grown.

  • the movie is ok for its time

im watching it in my schools guitar class

and the teacher wants the class to make a song

    for this movie fml

  • Saw this in 70MM in 1982

  • sick of this too

  • i'ved loved this film since i was a boy. the are making a new one for 2011,,,, "the power of the dark crystal". gotta be worth a watch eh ??

  • @danhoulding since you were a boy? now your ah girl.

  • At First I Didn't Care For It But Now I'm Craveing To Watch It.

  • OMG THANK U SOOOOO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS MOVIE!

I remember watching this movie as a kid, even thought i remembered the movie, i forgot what the name was until a couple of days ago. This movie is unforgettable!

  • im a 90's child and i still watched this movie along with labyrinth etc etc and memorized thanks for uploading true classic

  • I am only fifteen, but I love these movies. I watched this one over and over again when my mama got it for me. I know I wasn't there when these came out, but you can't get much better than the movies of the 20th century, right? :D I do however remember the 90's and the Disney movies. Those were such good times, truly good times.

  • i love the mystics!!

  • wow nice Joda moment there

  • you are my new best friend.

  • Gelfling = Hobbit ???

  • @conzatorium Not so much, no.

  • this is one of my fave movies! thank you for making this!!

  • wow didnt know this was an actuall movie i found thi out by looking at robot chicken's version.

  • LOL. ME TO

  • @washadow42 Me too. I was asking people if they knew what that Dark Crystal part on robot chicken was from. No one I asked knew

  • me and my class watch this movie :)

  • OMFG, this is Majik, I was cleaning and i found this I bought this as a vhs from WAL-MART along time ago, lol.

  • Now THAT on chrismas day is what I'm talking about. Magic!

  • henson was a genius, a "dreammaker" for kids

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, thank you so much. This is first time I've seen this and I have always wanted to watch it :D

  • I saw this in 1982. I was 8, and am 35 now. Every time, without fail, I get goosebumps when the Mystics join their voices together to call Jen. Truly amazing, and as others have said, too bad that they don't make them like this anymore. Computers have taken them away.

  • Same here, VivaPorSiempre

I saw this in the theaters when this came out. I was about your age then. I turn 35 in April. The use of CGI in movies has been overused I think. Something about the puppets and animation that make it seem more "real". CGI looks so fake sometimes.

  • lousy computers i love film made like this

  • That scene was in the preview after Disney's premiere of Robin Hood in the mid 1980's. Very goosebumpy indeed!!

  • @VivaPorSiempre

This film continues to produce my favorite nightmares :D

  • @VivaPorSiempre hey you know mee too i was 8 n am now 35 those sketsis were soo dam scary loll i still get the good pinples

  • Comment removed

  • @VivaPorSiempre err i mean goose pimples**** LOL

  • I keep waiting for Yoda to pop out. lol

  • Good movie.

  • i have not seen this film since i was 6 yrs old . im 28 now and child of the 1980's

  • jen looks like michael jackson

  • I have this movie on DVD!!!!

  • The journey of jen lol

  • I'm soooooo mad that they don't make movies like this anymore!

  • @lloyd614

    I'm so sad too

  • @lloyd614

That's because Jim Henson is (sadly) not here anymore to make such movies...

  • @lloyd614 did you know that they are making a sequel to come out in 2011 "Power of the Dark Crystal"

  • This film was never meant for kids... its closer to the TRUTH than u may think....this took 5 years to make and is deeply esoteric

  • Symbolic.....The sketsis live in a mind prison with invisible bars made of delusion...

  • This film is the real deal. It's all animatronics & Wizard Pupetry. There arn't many like this now. And what a shame there arn't. Got this on DVD as SOON as it was released!

  • Best Movie E.V.E.R

  • It's an okay movie.

  • I remember seeing this win I was little and I loved it.... I still think its cute

  • opps Triup like I do not name of the game saw tropic thunder duh!

  • Anybody else feel like listening to name of the game by the crystal method after hearing the intro? No? No one? Just me?..ok then....

  • I actually prefer this type of graphic............which is handmade therefore more organic in feeling............I gre up watching this at a really young age and it had magic to it as it does now watching it as an adult...................movies today don't make me "feel" like they did then...........there was something naive in the magic that has been lost............thats what makes Jim henson so special

  • ahhh this is one of my all time favorite movies!

  • wondrous little film

  • I'm writing a paper on this movie right now in my Muppet Magic class at UC Santa Cruz.

  • God, it had been AGES since I wanted to see this movie! Thank you!

  • Gimme a dolla, man!

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • @FinallyFoundANick on my profile, i said that any cussing, racial, etc would be removed from my videos. not that i disrespect ur opinion, but i dont want that junk cluttering up my video comments. dont talk to me like that you lowlife!

  • Computer animation doesn't hold a candle to this masterwork. You can spend a billion dollars on a film and it still won't be as beautiful as this.

  • avatar begs to differ

  • are you actually comparing avatar to this lol , it was just a bunch of cool graphics no real workmanship involved @kalebird

  • 20,480 hours went into making avatar, 4 years. pioneering workmanship and technology was used. but i see where your coming from, this movie is also incredibly stunning and i was just winding you up

  • Actually yeah you're right but it took longer than 4 years i think

  • I haven't seen this movie in quite a while, but from the few clips I've seen...this is a prime example that great visual effects can be realized without computer animation. I'm not against it, I'm just saying wow. Then again, that was the magic of Jim Henson.

  • Woah jem is alot less cute then I remeber !

  • I really wish Jim Henson was still alive today. Just by looking at this opening 10 minutes I can tell it's professionally shot, unlike a lot of films today.

  • This film is a masterpiece.

  • mi 11 year old niece is afraid of this movie lol :D

  • xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDwell i ran out of character counts,i just have to say one more thing..lol.

  • Funniest part of this is when Fizzgig is told to stay behind and loses it.

  • I have a cat like Fizzgig.

  • Is it a Persian breed, or does it have the same temperament (or both?) :)

  • He is a Ragdoll.

  • Gotcha. Thx.!

  • Gotcha. Thx. Too bad they don't make these films like they used to (except for Avatar, maybe...I like that one.)

    -Enjoyed The Lost Boys, too.

  • 0:32 ...The Crystal Method!

  • this is so inspiring

  • Jen's voice sounds like Matthew Broderick.

  • this movie scared the shit outta me when i was little

  • Same here. I was scared of the bad guys...they gave me nightmares. But dude, good times.

  • @PINKluvr01 Me too!!

  • Comment removed

  • good movie,

even greater than the movie effects from today in my opinion..

  • 2:59- Gimme!

  • The housewives of Orange County/Atlanta etc. remind me of skeksies.

  • @goshinman50 LOL! Yeah, the Skeksies are pretty ghetto, huh?! XD

  • Yeah, so does the House of Commons.

  • this was a classic closely followed by labyrinth

  • I remember this movie. Love it still!!

  • Wow I haven't seen this since I was little!

  • Goddamn those things are ugly !! They resemble vultures.

  • I think that's the idea.

  • Nobody can make a movie like this anymore. CGI really screws up a good story these days.

  • the skeksis are awesome and the mystics are like alright a bit TOO peacefull and gen is lalright kiara is cute and chambarlian "hhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" LMAO

  • what is this rated

  • A classic movie from a classic age in movie-making.

  • Did the Skeksis return in the sequeal or not?

  • @pilotmitch1232 dont know never saw it

  • I hope it's not too much like The Never Ending Story because that movie used to frighten me when I was little. I used to be frightened of Fievel, The Never Ending Story, Fraggle Rock, the cartoon version of Lord of the Rings, and Teddy Ruxpin.

  • Actually, it's even scarier.

  • Comment removed

  • I can see how THIS movie or Never Ending Story and Lord Of The Rings colud be kinda scary, at times, for a little kid,.. but WHY the hell was Teddy Ruxpin scary ?!!

  • It's a talking bear for crying out loud!! lol

I thought he was creepy in a chucky murderous doll kind of way.

  • I may not rember never ending story to well but what in that was/could have been scary?

  • Kick ASSSSS!!! Someone uploaded it, thanks. When I was about 8 this movie came out. This and "Never Ending Story" were the big kid movies.

For me this was one of the greatest films ever made. Watching this makes me feel young again..

    Thanks Jim Hensen...what a genius.

  • epic

  • loved this movie when i was litttle

now it just creeps me out

  • Can't wait to see this sequel! I loved this movie as a kid!

  • sequel?

  • Yes, there is a sequel in filming and they have reassembled as many voices from the original as possible. All the muppets are made by Jim Henson's creature shop and they are making it exactly as they made the first one, NO CGI! I saw a brief behind the scenes clip. I don't know if a real trailer is out, but check wikipedia, I believe they discuss it. It's called: The Power of the Dark Crystal.

  • are they wroking on it, or is it supposed to come out sometime next year or 2011?

  • @silbitnuoc Actually, it's supposed to be a mix of puppets and computer graphics.

  • I read a recent article after I posted this that said they were only using comp-graphics for the sky and a few very limited effects, but everything else including the backgrounds are real sets and puppets. So yes, you are correct. Oh, and wikipedia has changed the article saying it is in planning stages.

  • i love this movie!!!

  • To Hellborndelux: XD yea

  • Looking at the Skexsis castles and listening to that thunder.....I'm expecting to hear "Dont you open that......TRAP DOOOOOOOR!"

  • The Skesis always scare the shit out of me.

  • Ah the Skeksis, reminds me of my ex-mother-in-law.

  • I went to the movies and seen this when i was a kid with my grandfather i may been about 6 years old but fell in love and still today 1 of my fav movies and btw that was about 24 years ago GAWD were has time gone?

  • more like 27 years ago. sorry to rub it in

  • YES. BUT I AM 33! YOU WERE CLOSE!

  • 24 years ago? This movie came out 7 years before I was born? I feel like such a bratty upstart, right now...

  • @JamesDBrett you are, you are a bratty upstart! :p

  • I never seen or heard of The Dark Crystal before. But it is nice of toonguy500 to share this with me. So, what's The Dark Crystal about?

  • I send a message to you on what the movie is about, Springboy.

  • Thanks for the information pal.

  • That main elf dude looks like Michael Jackson.

  • sounds like him too

  • Wow....6 minutes into the film and already 3 people are dead O__O

But this is the first time seeing the film and its wonderful to see something without CGI for once lol And the story is pretty good =3 xxx

  • Such a great movie, I really have to get the Blu Ray version and relive this classic.

  • finally watching this for the first time, my friend has given me a hard time about not seeing this movie.

  • aw man, I remember this from when I was a kid, haven's seen it in years. Thanks for posting!

  • Gorgeous movie, thanks for the great version!

  • "When single shines the triple sun, what was sundered & undone, shall be made whole--the two made one, by Gelfling hand, or else by none." Several memories w/ this film: the above quote, reading the book on record (& still have it), having paint missing on bathroom wall shaped like the Chamberlain (a Skesis), pretending to be a landstrider (which I'd heard were people under the costume, running on stilts), & having a cousin supposedly named after this Kira.

  • "When single shines the triple sun, what was sundered & undone, shall be made whole--the two made one, by Gelfling hand, or else by none."

  • I never even saw this movie before until I was about 14 and it still scared me! It scares me now! lol great film though!

  • Tank you so much for uploading this!! I loved this movie as a kid! I even had the computer game...on one of those massive floppy disks....haha!!

    Jim Henson was amazing!!

  • Brilliant.. I shat myself as a kid watching this...

Just goes to show how much better quality puppets / animatronics look than CGI.

  • I love how good this movie looks. There is no CGI, so everything on screen just looks so much more pleasant.

  • is the charactors puppets?

  • Yes they "are"

  • Jim Henson was a crazy genius making these types of films.

  • When I was about 4 I saw the Labyrinth and then I saw Mirror Mask when I was 9,and they where my fav movies and I did`nt even know they were by the same people,so I hope this is my thrid favourite,I have`nt seen it yet

  • this movie scared me so much when i was little! their faces r so freaky! XD

  • i was terrified of this movie as a kid... I ran screaming away from the t.v. hahah.

  • This has been my favorite movie since I was a little sprout. My dad is so annoyed of watching it, but I don't think it ever gets old. This is also really good quality! :)

  • I am addicted to this movie!! since a child!

  • instead of saying "talk to the hand" or "get over it" or something like that i now yell out "I HATE YOUR WIMPER" .Try it out its fun.

  • Amazing quality!

  • So- was this like the first live-action movie ever NOT to feature humans? Cool.

  • Jim Henson was such a brilliant mind...absolutely brilliant!

  • I love this movie...brilliant fantasy.

  • This movie used to scare me the living poop out of me...I can't believe I am watching it now...I'm little nervous seeing if it still scares me........

  • At 4:56 the "chord" that the MYSTICS sing is so cool. And now I finally have a copy of this scene to keep for ever.

  • Haha wow this thing is so crazy. It's seriously scaring me as much as the never ending story and the labrynth.

  • I don't understand how this movie used to scare people XD lol

  • oh my gosh it STILL scares me! i havent seen this movie in about 4 years (im 13) GEEZ

  • Holy crap this stuff is scary 0.0

Jim Henson is messed up man

  • This movie scared the crap out of me, bring back lots of memories. it was such a good movie for its time, it is like the blue print for movies like lotr and harry potter

  • Totally. You can see how it influenced both. It freaked me out, too, as a child, but I absolutely loved it. Still do :)

  • How about Miyazaki's stuff?

  • DELETE!

  • Is that mathew Broderick?
