  • What is that thing on the right side from 15:13 to 15:21??

  • and without the shuttle...the ISS was not possible.

well...in fact...the shuttle that open the doors to all new kind of space program...

without the ISS...where's the funny? see it? thanks to the shuttle...

why? retire? well... it's ok...but one great and last mission with no end will be a better end to one of this shuttles...

a lot of robots and sensors...imagine the size of the tool...works to the SCIENCE.

untill the last spark of voltage...cool.

  • Hey NASA! Thanks for Space Shuttle program :)

  • THE LUCK DOES NOT EXIST ...

GOD WITH YOURS PROTECTING YOURS LIVES FOR EVER ...

A GOOD TRY AND A VERY GOOD JOB

    GOD BLESS YOURS GUYS ....

  • Amazing!!!! i not agree with this end...but what we can do? is from americans... proofing that the human can be more stupid that any kind of life in this planet.

    why? this end?!

because the money!!!! only this...is a shame... this space project had a end like this....

sorry...and apologizes... but it's wrong!!! use the shuttles on the moon or on the space...but not retired!!!!

  • @CmtePiu You cant run a program with money you dont have. And its better toi end it than neglect it. Anyways, this opens up a new age in space development, allowing for private companies and commercial space travel.

  • @rahmanroni i know...but imagine a robot... like a shuttle....can do a lot of things....is easy...but?!

well...2 robots with this size...imagine how many equipaments they can carry....and a lot more....

    one shuttle can be helpfull in mars...just can't return...or in a emergency....works fine...lol...

i know....they are old...but...some robots... what's the deal? science? or politics? see it?!

in the end...is always the MONEY...lol.

    thanks

  • How much of a setback will it be for the US and manned space exploration? No longer being the model and taking the backseat really leaves me scratching my head. Is rocket propelled spacecraft now obsolete? Its not typical for the US to be without an ace up its sleeve.

  • @psalm49 luckily the new craft that should be in use in about ten years is going to be for deep space, and is also taking us back to the moon in 15 ish years and mars in 20-25ish,

  • Well done Crew! So sad to see the end of such a great program. I can only hope this end heralds in a new age for Space exploration!

  • I'm Connor! =D

  • never thought a Coldplay song would make me cry

but that's OK, we went through this before when Project Apollo ended

beautiful world, beautiful universe to have such people in it

beautiful spacecraft, beautiful 'palace' on orbit

    FOR ALL MANKIND

  • very long-long video

  • are you forced home early ?

    or on Thursday!

how come this time i don't see you at night ?

as i have in most all other missions ?

    weird !

  • what is that object passing by at 15:12 into the video ?

  • @TheStevecas9860 maybe space junk or something that flew out of the space shuttle

  • @TheStevecas9860 yeah...unidentified flying object at 15:13

  • @TheStevecas9860 Bogey!

  • Somebody please tell my why they say it's the LAST time. Is it because this specific space shuttle will never dock at the ISS ever again? Or is it (this will sound stupid) or will no other space shuttle return to the ISS?

  • @MjmanDK after this flight, there will be no more Space Shuttle flights. ever. this is the last one.

  • @runwax No more Space Shuttle flights EVER.. Never again will we have a Space Shuttle take off from Earth into orbit? That makes no sense.. Why would they never do that again? Is it because they're building new space aircrafts? Please enlighten me a bit. I really want to unterstand the reason behind this :)

  • @MjmanDK This is the end of the Space shuttle program, no more space shuttles will go into space.

NASA is allowing the private companies to make the next rocket to take them to space so NASA can focus more money on going deeper into space to land people on Mars and asteroids.

  • @IamYoddle Ahhh.. Well seems kind of fair because, How much MORE can we actually do at the ISS (well loads of course, but we need to think of essentials here), so I guess it's quite good that they'll be focusing on things further away than the ISS. BUT! If they're planning to go to Mars and so on (which of course they are) they have to send a Space Shuttle into space sometime soon. So it can be the LAST Space Shuttle. Can it? I'm kind of denying it as you can see because it seems unreal to me :)

  • @MjmanDK Oh it's real. The Shuttle program is over once Atlantis lands... I know it seems unreal, but unfortunately it is... They have other space craft in the works, but until they are funded, and then built, anybody going up there will need to catch a ride up, and back home again, with the Russians.

  • @emilygrae Shiit, well I do think it's the time get started on new space crafts too, I mean these ships have been in use for what 40 years or so? Surely we have better technology now :). Fingers crossed for hopefully more news soon about space exploration and their upcoming trip to Mars!

  • @MjmanDK 30 years. I was 11 when Columbia first went up, my son is now 11 when the last one comes down... I wouldn't be anywhere near as sad as I am if they had something even partly ready to replace the Shuttles...

  • @emilygrae Well what would I know I'm only 20 :). But yeah if they do something in the works to replace it asap, I'm going to be all fine with the waiting :).

  • amazing

  • @enuvune this is the last ever mission of the shuttle programme it has come to the end. astronauts will get to and form there on rockets from now on until they have a new way of getting there

  • The two Canada Arms should have high-fived right after undocking. :P

  • its really moving to see this last mission unfold slowly. I hope to see the next vehicle flying and the flag back home on the planet, at least.

  • And I'm the 25 to watch and the 2nd to comment. Thanks NASA for such contribution to Human's development!

  • wow i'm the5th person to see this video and i'm the first to post a coment.atlantis is coming back to home for the last time.an historic page is turn.thanks for those 30 years atlantis, endeavour, discovery and of course chalenger and columbia

  • @theslashmetal best first post ever!, better than your typical "First" lol
