Funny how this game has changed so much with the advent of the PDC, the quality is so much higher. Lim's 52K for this in 1990, Adrian Lewis got 10K in 2011. That says it all.
Before John Lowe hit this 9 Darter it was Jocky Wilson who looked the most likely to be the first, especally when he was the wrong side of the Double 18 wire on his 9th Dart for £30k, again against Keith Deller in the 1983 Embassy which can be seen on my channel
Herbal 1971,you're just a few weeks older than me-I was 19 on February 18th 1990! I actually 'spolied' this moment for myself,as I had checked the BBC Ceefax for other sport news, and the headline was about Paul Lim's 9 darter-so in a way when he had already got 2 180s I kinda knew what was coming-I still love watching this moment, not least for the way the commnetator goes into orbit with excitement! lol
Lol just to answer... Pro dart players will get 9 dart finnishes every time they practice... as with all competitions, there is pressure... what does pressure do to sports people? A 147 in snooker practice is very common. Armchair fans lol.....
brilliant . i think this was the first live 9 darter ever filmed was it not..i remember watching this and get hold of this the game prior to this one he had two consecutive 180 ´s so in 6 visits toi the board he had 4 180`s amazing
Its such a shame illness has prevented Tony West from commentating at this years World Championship-I'm sure all darts fans out there would join me in wishing him a very speedy recovery, and hope he's back in 2012!
@badboy10ize Obviously i don't mean all the time but most of the time it happens on the PDC circuit, by the way was calling me a twat really necessary?
Update: I how have 30 nine darters, including two in a row. What's that? An 18 darter I guess... Smiffy, I earn £500,000 a year so an afternoon with Dave Chisnall in Frimley Green doesnt appeal to me if I'm honst. Plus he looks like he really needs the money. However the Luge isn't as cheap as darts, there are air fares to consider, track time for training, the kit, the maintenance of the sled etc so I think it's only fair that I move sport. Plus the women are a lot hotter than in the darts.
@auto98 No, read what I said. I did two 9 darters in row. I'm calling that an 18 darter, you call it what you like. The game is so easy, no wonder drunks play it, it makes it more interesting. No one could miss that board sober.
@auto98 No, a successful interpreatation of what's in front of you depends on your IQ. Please go back to school and concentrate this time. There's a good lad.
@HitMeQuick See, the thing is that if you were trolling, you wouldn't so easily admit to it, because that would make you a failure as a troll - clearly you were initially just lying, but when you weren't believed you dropped back into the safety of "i was winding you up"
@auto98 Troll is a word that means something to you, not me.You failed to spot the bait because you take everything far too literally. You're a fan of darts, this is not unexpected. I imagine you would have much in common with Dave Chisnall - a man so dumb he has not yet conquered successful shaving - or speech. Auto, there are places for people like you...Canada for example. There people take everything at face value. I wish you well navigating life, just remember not to look left or right.
@HitMeQuick Of course, if you had this much vaunted IQ you keep going on about, you would realise that if you say something as a wind-up, and it is not true, it is still a lie. But as you don't seem to realise that, one must assume that you don't know what you are talking about.
@auto98 You realise your argument is shared by one of the thickest contributers to youtube since its inception. Dear old Smiffy down there. I think he may actually be the guy from the Beano.
@HitMeQuick Do you know what "logical fallacy" means? In this case you have managed both an ad hominem attack on "Smiffy" (being thick, even if he is, does not make you wrong), and also "Mr X is stupid, you hold the same views, therefore you are wrong". Come back when you can make a logical argument.
@auto98 For the benefit of everyone else on here I suggest we both leave it. Enjoy the video everyone, it was a fine and important moment in the history of the game. Update: I now have 40 nine darters. None of which, oddly, has ever been televised.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I don't know why this doesn't happen every time a dart player steps up. Have you seen how close they stand to the board? And they practice all fucking day! This really should happen as often as a strike in bowling.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I just have - I got 5 treble 2o's in a row but then the dart board fell off the wall when the dog poked his head round my bedroom door. However if I sould practice ALL DAY WITHOUT INTERRUPTION like dart players do I reckon I'd be making 9 darters most days. Again, I emphasise, have you seen how close the board is?
You should get practicing then, theres £5million to be won on the circuit this year and its always going up. And i play darts the throwing distance is 7ft 9.25. Anyway i guess you'll be world champion soon when you will be hitting 9 darters most days.
Not sure I follow the drinking reference there Maxshard. And the dungeon ref is rather obvious and unoriginal. Have you thought about going into shelf stacking?
I'm sorry Hitmeuick. Your comments demonstrated such an ignorance of the skills required to play darts at this level and also contained a bowling reference, so I incorrectly assumed you were American. I apologise to them.
I also therefore assumed that you would understand the commonly used request to barmen by American drunks in a hurry to get their first drink....it is of course Hit me quick bartender!
If your hitting 9 darters every day maybe you should try out for the world championships, you could make alot of money. But we wont see you there because your not hitting 9 darters most days. By the way the board is 7ft 9 away from the player, that isnt really that close. You know nothing about darts.
Why would I want to take a pay cut to stand next to Dave "I lost my only braincell and I can't talk and I'm gonna go treble 18 instead" Chisnall? I would rather poke my eyes out with needles.
Update: I now have 26 nine darters in the bag, but It's getting tedious so I'm moving on to a more challenging sport. I dunno, the luge looks easy enough.
I'll tell you why. Because your talking out your arse. Pretty much everything you have said its stupid lies and its quite sad your pretending to be someone your not on YouTube. If your as good as you say you are with 26 nine darters (apparently), then that means you would easily win the world championship which means you get £100,000, or £200,000 if you won PDC. So your earning more than that? You can make up better shit than this, lets at least make it believable...
Great to hear tony green going wild at this. Righly so. Awesome darts. 9 dart finishes seem to happen several times a year now, but to think it hadn't been done for 6 years - and then onnly once before - is amazing. Wonder if he was as composed on the inside as he looked? doubt it.
When john lowe got a 9 darter in 1984, he got 100k! first televised 9 darter ever!

Nicky Varachkul was another great U.S darter from this era. Conrad Daniels was good too, but it was like watching paint dry when he was throwing !
