damn girl, that was some awesome coaching. i've always had problems with the time from extension to catch, but that made it very clear about speed and drills on how to do it. gonna try it out in the pool tomorrow.
Good question. My coach told me once that my hand swept too wide; I try to keep my hand tracking directly under my shoulder, while maintaining a high elbow. But I have a friend who suggested I sweep even further in (more beneath my chest). Biomechanically, I honestly don't know which is correct; I suspect that it has a great deal to do with what works best for you. I've tried it a couple different ways, and this is what works best for me.
your fingers do not point at the bottom of the pool and your forearm is not parallel to the wall. this contradicts what i have seen else where. why is this (not saying your wrong).
Clearest explanation that I've viewed. Thanks for sharing.

This was VERY helpful - as soon as I tried the drill I could feel more power and efficiency in my stroke. Thanks!

Thanks that was a very useful explanation of the quick-catch drill. I was practicing the wrong way :)... as in "quick" to for the entire stroke :)
