  • The solo in this song is fantastic.

The bass lines are pretty simple and basic & the drummer is something else.

  • "I've got lights in my brain, girl

We'll have fights in the rain, girl."

  • good stuff!

  • This is Really different from their other stuff.

    man, they are eclectic!

    =)

  • HEY fnnichols..thanks ...thot that was SM that opened for Hendrix at Masonic Temple in Detroit though wasnt sure ..had their 8 track ..their live performance was outstanding.

  • @fnnichols Yes, yes, yes, yes! (Volume 2's very different, though also very great).

  • Thanks, Marco. Got it now - the wonder of You Tube. It's from Volume 2 which I've got but because the tracks run together, couldn't work out what was what.

  • Actually It's Volume One : The Song's written by Kevin Ayers he left after Volume one and replaced by Hugh Hopper.

But Maybe you confused with the edition mixing Volume One and Two

  • You're right, my mistake. Tx.

  • Which album is this from?

  • Great Lullabye Letter clip. What's the name of the SM song with the line 'something in the nature of a lullabye letter'?

  • 'As long as he lies perfectly still'...

  • Well youtube is something amazing if you kan find stuff like that !!! thanks guys for posting!

  • Imagine what Syd Barret could have accomplish with this dudes, only if he weren't stuck with blues...

  • only if he wasnt stuck with roger waters

  • I believe he was not stuck with Roger Waters, just see who is playing with him in bass and keyboards in the solo albums, yep, Gilmour and Wright.

What I meant to say is that Syd Barrett was much of a blues guy and Soft Machine more jazzy, Syd and The Soft Machine played together but parted ways very sudden because of Syd being a blues guy.

  • Really good music..

Experimenting with them today actually, trying to hear their sound bcoz sombody told me if I like Pink Floyd I had to hear this..

Dragging colors in a drone in the brain.

  • I am looking for ages for the song "A certain kind" from SM. Had the LP with this song when I was 15 years old, lost it along the way....

When anyone comes across it, would make this dutch lady a happy one...

  • Saw Soft Machine open for Jimi Sept 1968 - UNBELIEVABLE show. . .and we weren't even stoned! They changed the course of our lives. .

  • Hendrix was so blown away with these guys he had them tour ith him saw that gig at Curtis Hixon in Tampa.A Mind blower orange barrels and purple micro dots.

  • One of my very favorite bass parts of all time; chords, no less! Kevin was great on this album! So were they all, actually. Thanks for the posting... I'll have to find my vinyl copy of this album; its been such a long time since I heard it... Now that I know what I am hearing & how it was done, it all sounds so new! More videos please!
