  • just what I was looking for, but to be honest, the proper name for the book as stated by Professer Knowby in the first film is "Naturon Demonto"

  • Thanks bro I just made one and it looks awesome!

  • NICE, MAN!!! :D

  • ?? i dont get this :D heh

  • good job man

  • Patrick, you win the Backyard FX host position? I think you should have.

  • @neofriends Thanks alot. Nope I didn't win, but I think they picked the right guy for the job. Thanks for saying so though.

  • That's awesome dude

  • awesome work!

im gathering the stuff to make my own to go

    with my figures.

  • Thumbs up if you are an evil dead fan and made your own necronomicon after watching this.

  • kool

  • How would you recommend adding more pages?

  • @megamormonman I've been successful with just hot gluing new pages directly to the spine. It's a little tricky though. Gotta get just the right amount and just on the very edges of the pages.

  • How would you recommend adding more pages?

  • i like the pop up book part, very creative my friend

  • Thank you! :D

  • great job! I followed your instructions and made my own! I am a huge evil dead fan

  • what about pig flesh? i think thats the next best thing

  • Part 1 of 2

Great vid, shows how to get a great look on the cheep. But, ive found that with a little bigger of a budget you can get a great look without having to enroll in the Tom Savini FX school. All you need is a pre-made/pre-bound '300pound' weight watercolor paper journal/sketchbook. (300lb paper is durable so you can age it accordingly and stain it with watercolor paints for a parchment look, and it has deckled edges(frayed).

  • Part 2 of 2(Continuation)

Modeling Putty Wax and form the face that you wish to use, really work it into the surface(textured surfaces work best) let that get dry if you use water to get the putty workable. Once dry, paint a coat or 2 of clear-drying acrylic gesso(used to seal surfaces in oil paintings), let that dry, then spackle/paint on the desired color you want using oil paints(when they dry they should have the feal of a somewhat sticky/malleable flesh-like surface.

  • This is a great tutorial. I made mines already for a movie prop/costume.

  • Soy sauce looks and smells more authentic than tea bags. Any time you need fake parchment, soy sauce is the way. Burn the edges lightly and bake in an oven for 3 min for a nice crinkly texture.

  • ooh Soy Sauce!!!! GREAT IDEA!!!!

I'm working on another evil book prop. I'll give soy sauce a try. Thanks for the tip! :D

  • hey, np, I tried teabags myself and they don't cut it. Soy sauce is faster and easier. Oh and don't bake on "high", lol, I assume you'll be aware of that. I used soy sauce for fake treasure maps myself, but hey, anything to help someone crafting a Necronomicon :D

  • Hope this isn't a dumb question, but at what temp. did you put the pages in the oven???

  • Well, obviously not high. The paper will burn. You need it hot enough to dry the sauce but not hot enough to burn the paper. My suggestion is to watch the procedure closely and use a low-ish heat. Sometimes you do want to burn the paper a bit, but an oven isn't the way to do it, use a match.

  • That is the single most badass thing ive seen someone make. Stay up.
