  • its sounds like a Solina

  • The new VP-770 can suck my-

  • I don't know why but this reminds me of Blade Runner nice job

  • Strings are good, but I still prefer strings on the Eminent 310 and Logan String Melody II… It's probably a matter of personal taste ;-)

  • I want this ensemble... for free...

  • It killed me until I figured it out, but the very beginning sounds like the intro to I'll Wait by Van Halen!

  • awesome!

  • The keyboard of the mkII is better to mplay, and the vocoder is more clear, it's my secret weapon synth , i love it !!! i will use it in my next production and i will make some video for youtube soon !!!

  • Try to talk like Soundwave!!! Here's what Soundwave would sound like if he sang... mAtw95CLq4I&fmt=18

  • Beautiful sounds--such a classic instrument.

  • great little machine. I'm sure it was used on the Bladerunner soundtrack.

I've got this model. I have heard the MK1 was richer sounding. My VP330 is broken, needs an overhaul. Love it to bits tho.

  • @oxygene65 : no, on "Blade Rinner" OST the synth you hear is the Yamaha CS80.

  • @discodelirio Actually BOTH the VP-330 and the CS-80 were used on the Blade Runner Soundtrack

  • @jukingeo yep. the vp330 does the background string sections on a lot of pieces, while the CS 80 does the expressive brass leads & sfx

  • Is it possible to sync this to anything?

  • how many note polyphony does it have? Very cool sounds!

  • full polyphon

  • Sounds like an oscillator dream!

  • How are you getting the Vocoding (speaking into the mic) to come out so clear? I have a Roland VP330, and whenever I try doing Vocoding i always have a pain in the ass trying to balance the volume levels between my normal voice and the vocoded one... any tips? Cuz you have the pure vocoded voice being output, I can't get it that clean D:

  • Do you have the MkI or II version? The MkII (that 'retrosound72' is using here) is the cleaner-sounding version. The MkI is richer more lush sounding and is the preferred version for collectors and musicians.

    I'll take BOTH!!! Soundwave...here I Come...

  • i think it's 'cause he records it straight from the output of the synth into his camera. So, no ambient noise

  • you need to pronounce when vocoder and over exaggerate your voice

  • damn, that string sound is just perfection.

  • 3:08 gets me drooling every time! some day, some day..........I have watched this so many times, I never get tired of watching and hearing it, cheers marco

  • Buy me! buy me! ;)

Mick, I can understand that good. Before I my VP330 bought, I heard the vangelis albums bladerunner and seeyou later again and again and again. I hope you find a VP330 for a good price. cheers

  • Great!

Can you say that VP-330 strings are EXACTLY the same of Paraphonic RS-505 strings?

    Thank you!

  • yes, the strings are the same

  • It sounds like Heaven.

Does vibrato control the strings section too or is for vocoder and human voice only?

  • vibrato is only avaiable for vocoder and human voice section

  • The ensemble effect is always engaged for the strings section?

  • yes

  • Very nice sound. It reminds me the song Read My Mind by The Killers

  • I think this is the model Frank Welker used when he voiced the original Soundwave back in the 80's.

  • what a beautiful sound ! ! !

  • I have a mk 1. awesome pads! too bad I don't have a mic though!

  • thanx for posting this!

i own a Roland RS09, sounds very alike

    doesn't have a vocoder though

  • my kind of heaven...just you moving the pitch shift tripped me out, then the vibrato!

    thanks for posting.

  • Well, alaggan, the flanging is courtesy of a mono somewhere, a great quality of the VP330 ensemble is a fat chorused sound with not much of a flanging, because there are mixed and counterphased outputs, so you have wideness with low wooshing ;-)

  • Fabulous flange effect on the strings. I'd like to hear the VP-330 with some external modulation.

  • One of the greatest music tools of all times, well done!

You now only deserve to test a Yamaha CS-80

  • Nice Sound!

    I wanna you to post

"Elka Rhapsody 610" and "Arp Solina String Ensemble"!

  • thank you

  • Just Wonderful

  • thx :)

  • hehe what's the steam blowing red dot doing at the end?

is it a tribute to the "oh superman" video or transformers Soundwave's red nose after the new years party?

    ;)

lovely sounds though can't get enough of this machine!

    happy new year!

  • happy new year!

    thank you

  • Are you running any sort of FX with this? or is this all the Roland?

  • no external fx

I add a little bit reverb on the robot voice part

  • lush

  • oh pretty

    stop it

    stop it

your filling me with too much pleasure and happiness!! :) ;)

  • I wonder what the paraphonic envelope response is. It seems that it doesn't kill a long release when you play any new notes, am I right?

The earlier RS101 and RS202 had independent Attack/Release envelopes for each of their keys, but I'm led to understand that the RS505 and onward used the more common setup like the Arp/Eminent models. What do you think?

  • Bei nicht gebundener Spielweise werden die Hüllkurven jedesmal wieder neu gestartet, während bei gebundene Noten ausklingen können.

  • I speak maybe 30 works of Deutsch, and most of them concern pizza, cigaretts or vulgar acts. Sorry. :D

  • If you could have ANY vocoder in the world, what would it be? I want to do a post of this little puppy. It sounds lovely , especially the pitch bend!

    tara

  • Only the VP-330 :)

  • AMAZING!!!

  • thanks :)

  • nice instrument it sounds like a eminent,i loved the voice part.

  • thanks :)

  • Very nice demo and great sounding VP-330!

  • thank you

  • awesome, kinda reminds me of decades by joy division, although i think they used something different

  • thank you

  • That was awesome!

Isn't there a new Roland Vocoder out now...?

I wonder how it would compare with the old...

  • the new digital VP-550

but the sound is very different

  • Digital FAILS to do vocoders justice...ONLY analog is GOOD for vocoders!!!

  • well done! I think also JMJ used it somewhere

  • yes

on the Oxygene Live Tour 2008

  • wow... instant "The Bounty" :) excellent

  • This sounds... so epicly amazing.

Did pink floyd use this? It reminds me of them a little.

  • used in Pink Floyds A New Machine

    thanks

  • Actually that's the Roland SVC-350 Vocoder!! David Gilmore or the other guy said this in an interview. They used the 'Ensemble' effect and turned the 'Balance' knob to center (half-way between voice and vocoder).

  • excellent!

  • thanks a lot

  • Blade Runner hells yes!

  • awesome, I always wondered which synth made those cool blade runner sounds. very nice instrument!

  • yes

    Yamaha CS-80 and Roland VP-330

    thanks

  • @retrosound72 Sounds like the same two synths that Don Airie used on the Mr. Crowley intro...The VP-330 comes in on the second time through, right after the CS80 does it's trademark stepped portamento.

  • hehe nice demo

  • thank you :)

  • COOL!!! Truly one of the BEST vocoders EVER made!! The voice of Soundwave (this or the MkI?)!!

  • thanks (:

  • You're welcome.

  • Great flashback inducing demo. Thanks much.

    Wayne

  • thank you Wayne :)

  • KKKKKIIILLLEEERRRRRRRR"

  • o yes :)
