  • best sounding line of Japanese silverface receivers imho. I had a KR-6600 and Boston A-200s for a long time and the soundstage was ridiculous. I haven't heard holographic presentation like that since.

  • @binarysolo0101010101 looks good... sounds good... sure wish I'd gotten one in 1977...

  • My porn can remember when I hit the mute button, why can't youtube???

  • @djparnate lol ali g classic quote

  • i have a 9400, wish ihad the handles. its a real back breaker

  • нет слов-красавчик

  • I knew s guy who had this receiver hooked to a set of JBL speakers. It was a powerhouse!

  • now I want to listen to my Sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band album! :)

  • They don't make em like this anymore. Analog even sounds better than digital sound IMO. I have the KR-7600, with a 300 watt per channel power amp, to go with it and nothing sounds better. Kenwood rules!

  • have a 9400, nice unit. the rack handles are a nice touch.

  • Does your kenwood have a lot of bass too? I am running the KR 7400. Depending on the amp I add bass sometimes, on the kennie if you set bass on neutral, there is so much bass already everything sounds like a sub, if you add bass, forget about it.

  • When someone says "Stereo System". THIS is what I expect.

  • The KR-9600 is the last receiver I ever bought (August 1977) and it may well be the last one I ever buy. Had the phono pre-amp repaired by RESISTANCE REPAIR in Berkeley around the early 90's and that's all it ever needed. After you're used to 160 watts RMS, why would you buy a newer receiver that probably clips when you get it anywhere near 80 db.?

  • Got one myself, bought new----just failed though but I will see about fixing it!

    Why was it on Mono?

  • Great Receiver, my father had one! I loved it

  • Yeah, I'm glad I hung on to mine... They just don't make 'em like that anymore! :-)

  • 160wpc whoa! i bet that is like 500watts in today cheap receivers.

    btw nice receiver :)

  • They were more or less for appearance and are not standard rack mount spacing. The KR-9600 measures about 24" across. They are really useful for moving or carrying the unit, though, as this beast weighs close to 60 pounds. :-)

  • Now THAT is cool!

What's with the handles on the front? Was that rack mountable, at some point?
