Im getting soooo fed up with people sayng who´s the best guitarist..... Come on guys, you may have YOUR favourite player, but that doesnt mean he´s the Muhammed Ali of all guitarplayers in the world.
Lets face it, there are a huge amont of great guitarplayers from past to present that have contributed to the evolution of this great instrument, so lets enjoy them, instead of always have a war about who´s the greatest. ;)
Joe is a monster player and puts on a very entertaining show. Some guys are amazing players but just wail away without being able to engage the audience. I think that sets Joe apart, he really puts on a show.
Tired of all you cranks comparing a 34 year old amazing rock/blues guitarist to 50, 60, and 70 year old musicians that weren't THAT good at Joe's age! Get a life! Or at least listen to more of his CDs and you will then begin to get the grasp of this man's musical range. He can shred better than Vai, more soulful than Trower, Hendrix, BB King, Santana, Clapton, etc. and the cherry on top is that he is NOT a stuck up brooding @ss. He's a NICE GUY who will help anyone who asks.
@4arial Just so you know, Hendrix didn't even live to 34. You can't really compare someone who was one of the first people to do everything he did, to someone who was born in a new generation of guitarists where it was a lot 'easier' to learn.

If you are willing to judge a guitarist of this caliber on the first video you've seen + if this is the first you've seen/heard from Joe Bonamassa........... then you know nothing about GUITAR
I've seen both live. One difference between Eric and Joe is Joe plays tighter than Eric on stage. Eric is immensely talented, but has a tendency during live shows to lose his focus during leads and wander off too much, and the tempo of the song is lost. For a guy who is so technically "unflawed" in the studio, Eric can be sloppy live. Love em both though.
I was just asking if this is his best. If it's not, maybe he has more to offer. If this is all he's got, I'm sorry. I've certainly heard better. Don't judge by my redneck name. Johnny Hiland is better than this and he is from Maine. Oops. There goes your theory right out the window. Jack Pearson certainly is better and he is from Tennessee. Location matters not, Ability is everything and there are those with more than this dude.

How can you people even compare this guy's playing to EJ's? EJ sounds much better, and does not need to show off in order to attract audience. He just lures them in with his "magic".
man ! they are both amazing ! i have seen both live ,eric is legend , but joe will be soon. they both tear it up and make great melodies for us to enjoy.
Give me a break! EJ is a great guitarist, but has no charisma, stage presence, voice, or songs. JB is just as skilled on guitar, but has also put together a show, and songs that people (other than guitar players) want to hear. You've obviously never seen him live, because he puts his heart and soul into every show. A monster guitar player, singer and showman. EJ is a monster guitar player.
@frennis That's not entirely true, a lot of EJ's songs require deep amounts of concentration to play, so that could be why he doesn't have a large amount of stage presence, but either way, could you see EJ prancing around the stage yelling at the crowd? And he has a nice voice, but I don't see how anyone could compare these two, Eric is not a blues guitarist.
@Fendershred50 If he plays blues, then he's a blues guitarist. You may as well say Joe ISN'T a blues guitarist because he plays and composes in other styles.
@Fendershred50 Eric Johnson is sort of a blues guitarist, in the same way bonamassa is. EJ has some blues tracks where he sounds a LOT like bonamassa (or i suppose its the other way around). Still, they share a lot of common ground

If this is the best Bonamassa has got, then he's truly not as good as I had heard. He's good, but certainly not the best I've ever heard.

@rockinredneck57 if you can't say if this is the best he has got then don't judge by one peformance, your name says all.
