@arc309 dont be an idiot. online poker is run on algorithms and the cards are 'shuffled' using their rng which means each and every card is predetermined for each position no matter who actually takes part in the hand. doesnt anyone make an effort to gain knowledge before making stupid comments about things they obviously know nothing about
@kevo1985 You're mistaken... online poker is run on algorithms/RNG, but there's no "shuffling" in the traditional sense -- each time there's a need for a card, there is a separate random number generated to produce a card. There is no preset deck order (except on Stars which uses a completely different, preset deck order than all the others).
So if the sitting-out guy was in the hand, it would have changed the timing by a fraction of a second and produced a totally different random outcome.

Lets all up the pot. YOu have the small blind, $0.5 big blind $1, someone that raised $2.5 more +the 1 dollars, so 3.5 and one person that calls. So 3.5+3.5+0.5+1=$8.5 pot. Now, YOu see that number in the middle it tells u the pot size, If we agree with your theory then the pot is missing $1 dollar.

agree with JROWE. if the guy had been sitting there, the cards would have been dealt differently and most likely no bad beat. so in either case, he would lose out no matter. question here is for the table to recognize the bad beat being possible with the absent player and tip him something for it. that is why he should still get paid out from the site even not sitting there because someones actions or inactions created the situation therefore deserves credits.
well the site technically didn't pay the table out of their own money, what do you think the rake is for? if anything, they don't profit as much because of paying out the bad beat. they don't even have to do the bad beat if they were that stingy for profit. but what if allowing a bad beat enables more profit than not having one. I think the main message here has been put on the rail. Point in matter is there wouldn't have been a bad beat if the guy didn't sit out period. All I'm saying is some credit should be giving to the guy who allowed the bad beat to happen in the first place. He is clearly being overlooked when in fact he was crucial in allowing it to happen in the first place. Without him, no one would get paid. I'm sure the table would give up a small percentage. Something is better than nothing.

you do bring up a good point. then maybe a tracker recording the percentage of hands you played, how long you've been there etc. etc. and define certain limits because case in point it just wouldn't have happened without him being absent. maybe allowing some sort of tip for the players if they feel inclined to do so. if someone sits there at one table for 2 hours and his stack is going up and down and happens to leave for a few hands to use the bathroom, he should have some part in it.
CarbonPoker certaintly ain't paying him. Neither are any of the players. If you won some money playing poker, you don't go and give it away because "it wouldn't have happened if they weren't sitting out". Doesn't have to be the bad beat jackpot any, just any hand in general.

@alexut576 ummm no actually, you are mistaken. The amonut that is shown is the raised amount, he didnt raise 2.5 he raised 1 dollar. Lets assume your theory is correct and he raised 2.5. Lets all up the pot. YOu have the small blind, $0.5 big blind $1, someone that raised $2.5 more +the 1 dollars, so 3.5 and one person that calls. So 3.5+3.5+0.5+1=$8.5 pot. Now, YOu see that number in the middle it tells u the pot size, If we agree with your theory then the pot is missing $1 dollar.

@riggs23007 it is the bad beat jackpot.. the only req to hit this jackpot is to have X hand beat.. normally it is quads of like jacks(depends on site) or better must be beat to activate the jackpot.. the quads can be losing the whole way but you still get the jackpot

the bad beat jackpot is when you lose with quad 7's or better. However they are just describing a bad beat as a hand that is almost certainly a winner gets beaten which is shown here....how often does he think he is up against a higher straight flush....sure enough he didn't get drawn out on but that is not the point

All the one guy had was a pair of queens and a straight flush draw and a straight straight draw. If any 8 would have hit the board on the river the guy with 89 would have won with 2 pair. A straight flush getting beat by a higher straight flush is ALWAYS considered a big bad beat, hence the 1.2 mil jackpot payout. You fish. Play at my table any time lol.

agree with JROWE. if the guy had been sitting there, the cards would have been dealt differently and most likely no bad beat. so in either case, he would lose out no matter. question here is for the table to recognize the bad beat being possible with the absent player and tip him something for it. that is why he should still get paid out from the site even not sitting there because someones actions or inactions created the situation therefore deserves credits.

I think the main message here has been put on the rail. Point in matter is there wouldn't have been a bad beat if the guy didn't sit out period. All I'm saying is some credit should be giving to the guy who allowed the bad beat to happen in the first place. He is clearly being overlooked when in fact he was crucial in allowing it to happen in the first place. Without him, no one would get paid. I'm sure the table would give up a small percentage. Something is better than nothing.

you do bring up a good point. then maybe a tracker recording the percentage of hands you played, how long you've been there etc. etc. and define certain limits because case in point it just wouldn't have happened without him being absent. maybe allowing some sort of tip for the players if they feel inclined to do so. if someone sits there at one table for 2 hours and his stack is going up and down and happens to leave for a few hands to use the bathroom, he should have some part in it.

CarbonPoker certaintly ain't paying him. Neither are any of the players. If you won some money playing poker, you don't go and give it away because "it wouldn't have happened if they weren't sitting out". Doesn't have to be the bad beat jackpot any, just any hand in general.
