@cdubmeyer I don't know why people ask this or care if I'm a guy or girl or not, does it matter? I think the only person who should care is significant other, and it's not hard to guess what gender I am (sorry it's a semi pet peeve of mine). Sorry for the walls of text, but I thought I'd elaborate on something I said... so I can try and lessen confusion. About the main scenarios (that ends at level 46), what I meant was that the scenarios prior are probably going to be untouched, and people starting at ps3 launch will see the same thing the PC players had.

I played this game from release. I played it for 6 months. I told everyone in my LS and everyone I came across that they are going to wipe this game and start new. Nahhh Nahh.. that's all I heard. When 2.0 hits after every thing is said and done... it's going to run alot like FFXI. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone is going to be pushed to start over. All new crafting... all new skills... all new classes... all new story line... all new UI and battling. Sorry to say. Ppl wasted there time.
@CakePieWhy what's the point of playing a character that's never did any of the original story line from lvl 1. The story is going to be completely different. The world is going to be completely different. When 2.0 hits a lvl 50 character in any class will be hollow. It will have no experience with any 1-49 lvl quests and story line quest. The game you bought when it was released is going to be completely different from ps3 and 2.0 lol. So starting over is a must really.
@Jaynuss13 Why would being level 1 or 50 be any different on 2.0? It's not like you won't be able to do the quest. Plus playing the game and experiencing/seeing the changes is pretty nice. You're pretty much making an assumption of what you feel it's going to be like, but to each their own.
If you feel the need to be level 1 to enjoy a game, then feel free though.

I will be starting a new toon once 2.0 goes live to try the game out since it will be F2P again for a couple months. The best memories I have of every single new MMORPG that i have ever played were at low levels. I don't want to miss out in the new Eorzea. :D
and to point it out the game has improved so much since release i played aion and aion 2.0 or whatever it was called when they re-released it and now ffxiv is just about on par with gameplay etc but not content which will come in time (hopefully)
Also the fact that when i played WoW, id make a character with a name i love and the way it looks play a class to level 50+ get bored then wanna try something else, i then have to make another character or delete that character if i wanted the name back then start over with nothing. The fact you can do everything with one character was a fantastic feature in ffxi i loved it i have 5 lvl 95's on one character! (not played it since the level increase). But thats just my opinion like all of this.
I do not understand the justification of LichKingLives statements on this, yes they are making improvements yes the game was a disgrace (played it for the first hour of buying on release then threw my disc out of my window) but the thing is Square Enix are making it better and i look forward to when they add the job system into it. And about the payment system yes paying for extra slots might sound silly but on one character you can do every job and craft so there is no need for another Char.
Thanks for posting this. I look forward to v2.0. I played FFXI and having to quit the game at level 36 is something I regret so much. I miss my Paladin. So many years have passed, I've reminisced of that game a lot.
@LichKingLives nah they wont delete your character. I haven't payed for FFXI in a long time and my characters are still there.
The "justification" for payment for each additional character, is that "you can do everything on one character" mainly being able to play every job on one character. That brings its own issue, like SE's lack of job balancing (which is also frustrating). Realistically, in a game like FF most people wont make additional characters (but I would if fee wasn't in place)

@LichKingLives SE hasn't made any great games recently, but I believe they made decent one. Most of their games are have good aspects to them (I really enjoyed 12's and 13's battle systems) but they can't seem to make a game like the SNES glory days of FF6 where everything about it was good.
I'm not sure if SE will ever make an amazing title that everything about it is great ever again, but it is something to hope for.

@LichKingLives That being said, FFXIV has a lot of potential imo, especially in Japan (I doubt they are going to get a huge NA market ever) I'm sure SE knows this, and 2.0 may be the chance to turn things around. I am really interested to see if they pull out a miracle and make this game successful.

Is the battle system still as boring as putting my legs up, staring at numbers and bars rather than the game screen and just pressing X? It was like that for me during obt i was rly dissapointed. The graphics are gorgeous tho
@Kiyamlol The battle system has gotten better imo, but it still needs a lot of balancing. Battle itself is more dynamic, they added combos you to lower your recasts or have weapon skills take no TP. Some of the conditions for the combos involve hitting the WS at the back of the enemy. Each WS has its own condition. I found it more enjoyable.
PUG MRD and LNC get the shaft for the amount of endgame they get to do now :/ Game needs balancing. Maybe Jobs will fix that.

I was told not to get to excited, but I watched a (kind of) interview on their youtube account, and things they said their gonna put in I really like doing in games. I've never played WOW or Aion, but I've never heard of them having things like cooking, and housing. And I enjoy playing a game and not having to fight. I do FFXIV's prices are unreasonable though.

As someone who has not ragequit FFXIV after its nightmare of a launch, and as a continued player, I'd say most players are people who are waiting for it to become the game it was MEANT to be, and don't want to be left behind by the time it gets there. Personally, I'm pretty bored with the game, but when 2.0 comes, I want to be prepared with decent levels and decent gear, and I also actually enjoy the storyline, which will become unplayable after 2.0.

*** My only real concern is, will the numbers be up to par with subscribers when it is released. The original release was nothing short than an EMBARRASSMENT to the once mighty RPG juggernaut SQUARE. Even if the new development team (which is doing a excellent job and great communicating with the fan base) manages to fix the game how will FFXIV's reputation be repaired.
@crazybongo5 Square can't do much to repair its image, and in some ways they might have made things worse by inviting the community to be apart of the games design. SE had no prior experience working with its community in this way and so much had to be built to accomplish this aspect of game design. I feel this accomplishment helped SE become a better developer. Time will tell us if they learned from the experience.
It appears as if SE junked the title and created a new game in its shadow.
I hope and pray that FFXIV 2.0 will be everything that i hope it will be. Being one who did ffxiv beta,alpha,release i was very disappointed and heartbroken. How i so wished to return to those memorable days of FFXI with the good friends, friendly community, and (COUGH*) decent game play. There's a lot of basic functionality that is totally lacking (AH, Delivery System to think of things off the top of my head) that are completely lacking. @gearsofshock No other MMO's (that I can think of) have the lag that FFXIV does. Dealing with your inventory is bad because you can actually realize that the response time of your inventory is slow. Its better now then compared to launch, but it still is really slow. Also things such as server side lag, where you will do things on your screen, but the server will not pick it up. For example dodging Iffirt plumes, you will dodge on your screen, yet the server will not pick it up, Boom, Dead!
@LolPedoSmile It is hard to say. Its not bad for being free now, but game play isn't great. The fact that the story line and world is going all crazy for a one time events pretty cool... but other then that it doesn't seem totally worth it unless you really want to get a head start for version 2.0.
During 2.0 Everything is going to change. They are redueing the game in a different graphics engine, as well as making a new server client, so it should be a lot faster.
@WotgAshiee I meant like attacking wise doesn't seem like a fastpase action rpg unless 2.0 changes all that and makes the movement/attacking faster which would be amazing imo. But thanks for the response.
@LolPedoSmile Part of the problem with the whole game right now is really just the server side lag.... If they alleviate that it should be better. They changing all of the map layouts, Its a pretty extensive change that's going on. Id suggest not playing until 2.0, when they are relaunching the game.

I just bought FFXIV so I have some free time left to get a feel for the game yet subscription fees are right around the corner and game changes are in the works.
@HawkEyeA53B reviews on the changes are somewhat mixed, but most of them have been positive. FFXIV is really going to be a brand new game in the next year it seems. I personally think the changes will be good for the game. Paying a monthly fee will suck, but they had to make us pay sometime.
I'll sub just to find out when 2.0 is out. I haven't touched the game in ages and will only resubscribe to the game when it's finally decent.

Square-Enix apparently already registered the name Final Fantasy XIII-3. In fact, if you look at the true ending of FFXIII-2, it ends by saying "To be continued" or something, meaning they are trying to make a sequel out of it. Who asked for it? No one, but since SE is too dumb, they think people want more of this garbage.
Square-Enix needs to realize that putting some fancy movies in a game no longer sells the game. They have been doing this for more than a decade.

@LichKingLives That being said, FFXIV has a lot of potential imo, especially in Japan (I doubt they are going to get a huge NA market ever) I'm sure SE knows this, and 2.0 may be the chance to turn things around. I am really interested to see if they pull out a miracle and make this game successful.

Though I'm pretty sure you are trolling quite a bit, I do agree with some things to an extent. People who don't realize FFXIV was a failure at launch => now are delusional. The subscription #'s and the negative press say it all. If SE can't get more people to play, this game will disappear off the face of the earth, and relatively soon.

normally what is it 12.99? and for extra ones 2.99 a slot? you d not need multiple characters, problem is you are playing with different companies, Se needs the money output because they need to make money back, from their failures. ff14 has not made money back and now it will.
this is not better than aion atm, you are correct it had a rough start, it does not have a ps3 release yet.

@Kiyamlol The battle system has gotten better imo, but it still needs a lot of balancing. Battle itself is more dynamic, they added combos you to lower your recasts or have weapon skills take no TP. Some of the conditions for the combos involve hitting the WS at the back of the enemy. Each WS has its own condition. I found it more enjoyable.
PUG MRD and LNC get the shaft for the amount of endgame they get to do now :/ Game needs balancing. Maybe Jobs will fix that.

@LichKingLives If you check the staff on the website it says names of people who have worked on what I mentioned. I was told not to get to excited, but I watched a (kind of) interview on their youtube account, and things they said their gonna put in I really like doing in games. I've never played WOW or Aion, but I've never heard of them having things like cooking, and housing. And I enjoy playing a game and not having to fight. I do FFXIV's prices are unreasonable though.

As someone who has not ragequit FFXIV after its nightmare of a launch, and as a continued player, I'd say most players are people who are waiting for it to become the game it was MEANT to be, and don't want to be left behind by the time it gets there. Personally, I'm pretty bored with the game, but when 2.0 comes, I want to be prepared with decent levels and decent gear, and I also actually enjoy the storyline, which will become unplayable after 2.0.

*** My only real concern is, will the numbers be up to par with subscribers when it is released. The original release was nothing short than an EMBARRASSMENT to the once mighty RPG juggernaut SQUARE. Even if the new development team (which is doing a excellent job and great communicating with the fan base) manages to fix the game how will FFXIV's reputation be repaired.

@crazybongo5 Square can't do much to repair its image, and in some ways they might have made things worse by inviting the community to be apart of the games design. SE had no prior experience working with its community in this way and so much had to be built to accomplish this aspect of game design. I feel this accomplishment helped SE become a better developer. Time will tell us if they learned from the experience.
It appears as if SE junked the title and created a new game in its shadow.

I hope and pray that FFXIV 2.0 will be everything that i hope it will be. Being one who did ffxiv beta,alpha,release i was very disappointed and heartbroken. How i so wished to return to those memorable days of FFXI with the good friends, friendly community, and (COUGH*) decent game play. There's a lot of basic functionality that is totally lacking (AH, Delivery System to think of things off the top of my head) that are completely lacking. @gearsofshock No other MMO's (that I can think of) have the lag that FFXIV does. Dealing with your inventory is bad because you can actually realize that the response time of your inventory is slow. Its better now then compared to launch, but it still is really slow. Also things such as server side lag, where you will do things on your screen, but the server will not pick it up. For example dodging Iffirt plumes, you will dodge on your screen, yet the server will not pick it up, Boom, Dead!

@LolPedoSmile It is hard to say. Its not bad for being free now, but game play isn't great. The fact that the story line and world is going all crazy for a one time events pretty cool... but other then that it doesn't seem totally worth it unless you really want to get a head start for version 2.0.
During 2.0 Everything is going to change. They are redueing the game in a different graphics engine, as well as making a new server client, so it should be a lot faster.

@LolPedoSmile Part of the problem with the whole game right now is really just the server side lag.... If they alleviate that it should be better. They changing all of the map layouts, Its a pretty extensive change that's going on. Id suggest not playing until 2.0, when they are relaunching the game.

@HawkEyeA53B reviews on the changes are somewhat mixed, but most of them have been positive. FFXIV is really going to be a brand new game in the next year it seems. I personally think the changes will be good for the game. Paying a monthly fee will suck, but they had to make us pay sometime.
