This is a beautiful and touching and heart rending song. A standard of excellence in composition of lyrics, music and of how well it is sung and played has made it a oft covered song, but this remains the first and best version. Alejandro Escovedo does an amazing performance of this live and a studio cut, but this is my favorite. I am glad that it lives on in other versions as that means that it is for the ages to appreciate. :)
