I bought the 45 of this and thought there's a good song here hidden behind reverb, uncommitted vocals and shit guitar playing (the bass is ace though)

the guitarist in this band also plays in crystal stilts so i have respect for this band. crystal stilts are AMAZIN! they sound like the beach boys plus joy division haha.

While this song is my least favorite I've heard, it's still great for what they are going for. And who said this was punk? Geez man. Not at all, he's right on point. This band is insanely weak, this faux Lo-Fi Pitchfork garbage is awful. There is no reason to produce a band in this manner except to hide bad musicianship and add substance where there is none. It's the same thing Wavves does, nobody in the band can play their instruments, so they drown it reverb to make it sound denser. This is not a band so much as an example of hipster denial.

i'm not defending this song so much as just making some general comments. some of the most electrifying and alive music is made by people who "don't know how to play their instruments." when producing music, the point isn't always to have a crisp and clear sound. that's called aesthetic preference. and most likely this band came together in a particular scene. if you've never belonged to a scene, well no wonder you not only not relate but also have such reductionist views regarding "hipsters."

Wow, Litherland is missing the point. You are the pretentious one, dumbass. The mix of this song is awesome, and creates a wall of sound. It's the style they want, get over it. While this song is my least favorite I've heard, it's still great for what they are going for. And who said this was punk? Geez man. Check out the video/song "When I'm gone.", you might like it better.

Not at all, he's right on point. This band is insanely weak, this faux Lo-Fi Pitchfork garbage is awful. There is no reason to produce a band in this manner except to hide bad musicianship and add substance where there is none. It's the same thing Wavves does, nobody in the band can play their instruments, so they drown it reverb to make it sound denser. This is not a band so much as an example of hipster denial.
