If a child runs from the police and into a busy street, that child can cause multiple vehicle fatalities before he is subdued. If that child has a weapon and cannot be easily talked down, he endangers his life and everyone else that is involved.
So basically, if a child obeys the police, they don't get tased. Same as everyone else. Obviously the cops must try to be gentle on each arrest, but if they cannot catch or safely subdue a dangerous child, that lil punk needs a shock.
I think you should consider all of the lives that have been saved by the use of a taser. The taser is a less lethal weapon, and if it were not for tasers, some cops may have been forced to use the more lethal method...called a gun. So think about that before you start flapping your lips about how a taser has killed people.

Unless the are aiming directly for the shoulderblade area, death will be garaunteed, either instantly, or 3 days later. I agree it neutralizes a target, but a shot to the kneecap will as well, and if i can shoot a bounding deer from 300 yards in the eye socket, I'm sure a cop can shoot a criminal at 50 yards in the knee. Cops just don't care enough to work on it.

@rycon246 depends on your definition of conehead I suppose, but it's part of the police academy training; not to be confused with the funny TV one :P It's part of the taser training program that allows upcoming or current officers to learn how effective tasers really are. This way, it prevents wide-scale fatalities from over-tasing and gives the officers a better view on how to use them. teh moar u kno!
