  • OH YEAH!! FINALLY!! Now I can turn left. Before I could just turn right. Thank you for this very usefull lesson!!

  • i thought u were not supposed to croos hands

  • thank you this is large help for me, wish there were more videos like this because nobody wants t teach me how to drive because i dont look 16, It sucks.

  • this video was so helpful!!! whenever I'm in the driver's seat I'm always calm until there's a turn coming up ahead and than I totally start freaking out. so when it's my turn to take a left or right turn I suck big time. I don't know how to explain it. but I just get really scared when it comes to turning. but thanks to this video I think I actually get it now. no one really taught me the proper way to turn. so kuddos to whoever made this video. much appreciated!

  • i have a habit of letting the weel go outta fear of turning to much ( i know stupid) i wish i wasnt such a pussy on the road :(

  • One thing I don't get about this video is why would you need to turn the steering wheel back the other way when you're finishing your left turn?

All you ever need to do is turn the wheel left and at about the midway point of the turn let go of the wheel and let it spin the opposite way on its own and your car will straighten out on its own.

  • @JDubs878 if you have your license already you might get away with that. if you just let the steering wheel go in the middle of a driving test you will lose points or a possible fail because they will think you don't have steering control. if you already been driving witch a lot of experience drivers do they forget what it was like when they first started or what they went through to take the test and end up developing bad habits. such as letting the steering wheel go driving to fast etc.

  • @JDubs878 i know these things one because i just started driving to because i been driving often and a while more then some.

  • @Knowledgebornify

I passed with no problems on my driving test with letting go of the steering wheel during a turn because its common practice here. Basically when you let go, your hand hovers just over the wheel so that you can quickly grab back on when you need to

To me, it makes ZERO sense to turn the wheel the other way to straighten out when your car automatically does it for you. Its absolutely unnecessary and could even cause problems.

  • @JDubs878 lol i see what your saying but where iam from you lose points and fail because of not showing steering control. if i told someone out hear let go of the wheel and let it spin back on a test/turn they would look at me like iam crazy lol. it could be just a matter of different rules in different places. if that is a common practice there it is considered a bad habit hear. plus who ever passed you was only one person try it with different instructors and you may fail or lose points.

  • @Knowledgebornify think about it if your making a turn and you just let the wheel spin back suppose your not paying attention and a situation happens unsurprisingly now you panic and your first thought is what? because your use to just letting the steering wheel turn back on it's own. i don't know about you but that method doesn't work for me at all. yes it is a common practice in general but on a test i would not tell a person to do that you half to go through the motions.

  • @JDubs878 in other words how ever your instructor or who ever it is teaches you the things you need to pass the test follow that. the over hand method was what i learned. at first i thought the same way you thought why the fuck i gotta do all of that lol. after i learned the method it wasn't as stupid or as hard as it seemed. i still slip into the let the wheel go hear and there :) it comes more natural to people. after you have your license then you can develop your driving style more

  • @JDubs878 until then people should go by the book. after that be safe follow the rules and do what the heck ya want lol it all a learning process. oh and excuse me for the dam novel i wrote.

  • Thank you very much for such an useful lesson

  • I dont use hand over hand. theres never a turn that needs that big of a damn turn... I just look at where im turning and turn as i go.

  • @raymanlegy Same. But apparently my driving instructor says I'll fail unless I learn it. But I learned the way you're saying so I'm frustrated, our teacher never explained it, he thought it'd be second nature. My turns are flawless but I don't use the "proper technique." Telling me to turn hand over hand is like telling me to speak spanish when I only know english and french.

  • @tara2berry2 lol. As long as you take your time turning and less about thinking about turning you'll do fine. I find it when i think about parking my car I always mess up, but if i just park the damn car I do fine. I've been driving for about 5 months now.

  • woow my driving instructor needs to explain it clearer !

  • @sadichigo2 really? Just drive dont even worry about the technique its like second nature to your body. Just look at where you're turning and turn as needed. Dont look at your hands :O.

  • i like your jello hand:)

  • the best demonstration there is

  • "Do not wrap your thumbs around the wheel but keep them out as shown"......Bravo!!

  • I love this guy

  • I drive with one hand on the steering and the other on the shift knob or on the

    door

  • best illustration i've seen so far, thanks.

  • i go over the yellow line

  • the only problem is they arent allowed to teach 10 and 2 holding positions in drivers education places. they teach 9 and 3

  • @xfreakyemoness yeah. apparently it's the "modern" way, but it seems safer for 10 & 2...

  • Clearly explained. I like it.
