  • You are telling us about musical theater? Sheeeeet girlfriend. Wrong, tree and wrong bark.

  • my uncle was playing bass in thiss video

  • is she gay? why are the comments related to gayness? i'm confused

  • fabbo, fabbo, fabbo and this is coming from a straight guy!!!!! Yeeeeaaaahhhhh

  • Sublime love j adore love merci love merci ma tendre Amie Josea.+5****** love karine

  • Lovely, truly one of the best of Gloria...

  • I'm more familiar with Shirley Bassey's version and I feel Bassey's version requires more voice technique because it has more vocal range. This one sounds rather dated. I assume Gloria was just doing it for the moment. Shirley's is classical and timeless.

  • good song but love it more by shirley bassey

  • the band sucks

  • i love this song!

  • it is the best song for confidence! gloria is the Diva of Confidence! i love Adam Lambert as well as the whole Asia, we dedicate this song to Adam!

  • cwecub fuck up you gonna start sayin straight people cant listen ta teh viallage people next...pft..

  • What if it was written for gay people???!!! I don't see a problem in likeing this song although it "wasn't written" for straight people, as you said.

  • it's the gay national anthem, so you straight people stop acting like it was written for you. It's one of the main songs from the musical La Cage Aux Folles and it's about a drag queen not being ashamed of his life

  • get a life!

  • But this song was only sung by Gloria, she's not written it, because I AM WHAT I AM was written by Harvey Fierstein for the musical "LA CAGE AUX FOLLES", which it's one of the most knowing gay-musical in the world. A film with the italian Ugo Tognazzi called "il vizietto" and ispired by this musical won a lot of international prizes, as David di Donatello or Golden Globe.

    So, SHUT UP!!

  • @QUEEN1992MERCURY actually harvey didnt write it jerry herman did...so SHUT UP!!

  • We did, dearheart. Both the lyricist (Harvey Fierstein) and the composer (Jerry Herman)--both of whom I've worked with--are big ol' nelly queens.

If I wanted to be snarky, I could say that the high degree of remakes of existing songs by the disco set--and by its urban-music successors r&b and hip hop--point to a serious creative bankruptcy.

If I wanted to be snarky.

  • As a gay man, anything that gets our songs out there is a good thing, IMABHO. Besides, if straight women get to sing our songs and make them their own, we get to sing THEIR songs and make them OUR own.

    Fifty Percent, anyone?

  • i was there wot a night we had some fun

  • This song is one of the best to bring happiness and confidence. Thanks Gloria!

  • She is the best..... This song is the one thing I always go back to when I feel down or in doubt.... Its girl power on steriods.....

  • agreed :)
