  • ya man dont be so critical of yourself, you look awesome with ur form, who wouldnt be semi slow with that kind of weight at ur size anyways, good lift, keep up the good work :)

  • slight arm bend. Good clean.

  • Looked real good to me nothing wrong with that good job !

  • great power clean. only critique: the bar starts awfully far away from the midfoot. pull it closer so the shins don't have to move as far to touch it, don't drop the hips quite as much, and you'll get a much faster first pull (and, hence, easier second pull). the closer the bar moves to in-a-straight-line, the more efficient the pull; this can't be accomplished if you've got to pull it BACK (to center it) in addition to up.

  • damn... and this is with fatigue? i couldnt imagine what it looks like when you're 100%... damn nice work bro

  • when i do this my elbows do not come up as much. Why is this?

  • @biggsforwin You have to actively whip them around fast; it doesn't happen automatically. And keep your arms completely free of tension. No "pulling" on the barbell.

  • @madaozeki I mean the exact position his arms are in at 0:42 where they are parallel to the floor

  • @biggsforwin "his" arms are "my" arms, actually, since that's me in the video :) 0:42 is the end of the video, so I guess you mean when I'm standing up all the way? Keeping the elbows high is crucial for making a strong rack position for the barbell. If you can touch the back of your neck with your fingers, then you have enough flexibility to push your elbows up like that. Put the backs of your hands on your shoulders and point your elbows straight forward. That's the position.

  • @biggsforwin PS Do a YouTube search for 'front squat tutorial' and watch the first video, which is mine. It talks about high elbows and demonstrates.

  • @biggsforwin you may also need to think of letting go of the bar and just keeping two or even one finger on the bar in order to rack it. depends on your wrist flexibility and the relative sizes of your humerus and forearm.

  • that was a perfect power clean. looks just like the way i do mine at school.

  • wtf wheres the flaw?

  • I agree with the other guys to me that looked like a really good technical power clean! Like you said speed of execution could have been faster but it depends what you were lifting and it aint gonna be fast after what you had just done lol good job!

  • im pretty new to power cleans and when you said it wasn't pretty i thought to myself i have a long way to go because that looked pretty good to me

  • @teamjinsoku The technique was OK, but the speed was slower than usual, due to a ton of fatigue. Thanks for the comment :)

  • i didnt see anything wrong wit that either.... the response to bob was NOT a waste of my time.

  • @trackstarbud24 Ha! Thanks for the comment :)

  • wow wat a waste of my time watching this shit

  • @bobbobby583 Thanks for the helpful and productive comment. I'm sure your time was MUCH better spent contributing this incisive and razor-sharp observation.

  • ha what a response!

  • dude there was nothing wrong with that speed at all

  • yea, that wasn't too smart. Why so many reps though, are you in crossfit or something? Most Oly lifters including myself would be horrified at even thinking about that kind of rep count in a single workout, and especially in that amount of time.

  • Was challenged by a Crossfitter :-) Normally I stay as far away from that as I can, but it was Christmas and it was fun. Considering I'd never done anything remotely like it before, I certainly held my own!

  • That was pretty much a perfect power clean, good job.

  • power cleans aren't all about how fast you do them, just how your technique was, and your technique was fine to me

  • what was wrong with that? Your form was fine.

  • You are as stronger than me and I have 45 pounds on you!!!

  • damn, thats a better clean than ive ever done. kudos

  • Your form is impeccable, sure the clean could be a tad bit faster but the catch was amazing.

  • You're too hard on yourself that looked real good

  • You should try doing 120% of your body weight !!!

  • Ha! Well I'd probably only get about 60-75 reps in 30 minutes with that amount of weight...

  • That is incredible work you do. 215 reps amazing! I wish i could know how to power clean, snatch and whatever develops the strength. Do you run sprints or distance? You probably run like under 10 for 100 meter dash. All that work you put in make you stronger and faster. Could provide more videos of how to preform these olympic lifts. Thank you very much!

  • someone doesnt know a thing about sprinting

  • Might be slow but its better form than some of these high school and college football players who claim they can power clean.

  • This was a very slow power clean. LOL!

  • Thanks for your fine comment :-) If you've seen my other powerclean vids, you'll realize how slow this was in comparison. looking forward to more great comments such as this one!

  • thanks for your pointless comment

  • really? 215 reps of behind the neck jerk? lol thats about 18 sets of 12 reps. THAT would be a video i would like to see.

  • Haha now THAT'S a better response :-) That's why the powerclean was so slow; it had nothing to do with the slo-motion reply, that was just an afterthought... no vids of the whole competition, but I have a "prep" vid in my vids area. I did the 215 reps in 30 minutes with about 55kg (121lbs). I did sets of 3 every 20-30 seconds and a few sets of 4.

  • it was slow but u got it up there so dont even worry bout it you know u have to explode man i know u want them power reps if your goin to put how slow your clean was on youtube

  • any tips for cleaning man?? looks like u got it down pact

  • Check out my other vids. There are some tutorials in there. Or PM me and tell me about your training and I'll see if I can help.

  • Looks like you just slowed down the vid...

bu as a fellow fan of the POwerclean,

I'm not gonna accuse you of anything

  • The 2nd part of the vid is in slow motion :-D But the first part is still darn slow compared to my usual lifts.

  • Nice lift, despite your masochistic tendencies:) So are you now at an Olympic lifting-friendly gym? Or is this setup just temporary?

  • Thanks Yoon :-) This is actually my old gym down in Philly that I used to train at. Check out the IronSportGym YouTube channel they've now put up to see the kind of freaks I used to have the pleasure of training with ;-) I managed to get on a platform about 6 times in 2008, in 3 different countries. Hopefully 2009 will be kinder!

  • I have seen worse!

  • prettier than most :)
