I hope Killzone 4 would come... And if it were, they should add an Helghast Campaign :I Why do we always hawe to be at the good and boring team with the bad and uncool armour, when the cool people, with the cool uniforms are the ppl we fight agianst?! :I
@VAKRangerwieldVAK and the isa are really the bad guys in killzone. They go into vekta and take it from the helghast because they are greedy, then take helghan, the only home the helghast have left like fucking assholes. Id like to play as the good guy for once.
The ISA are a 'civilization' of stinking rats! They would kill each other if it meant getting a larger share of the pie and oh how they celebrate their false freedom.
The Helghast represent a true order for humanity, work, self-respect, honor and independence!
@Celticlight1 And they're also Space Nazis. Jagged black symbol set against red background. Authoritarian leader who's a good orator and grips the shit out of the podium. Cool black uniforms with pseudo-Nazi symbol armbands. Oppressive dictatorship. Belief in their race's superiority(KZ1). Fancy military parades (KZ3).
I seriously doubt the game's designers intended the red-eyed, deep-voiced, merciless monsters to be sympathetic characters. They're generic evil guys.
I wish Sev was the Helghast spy and in kz4 we would finally fight as the son of Helghan, and finally kill that freak rico, i hate him so much after death of Garza. And i hate ISA after killzone 2 multiplayer.
If you were convinced by Visari, facism just worked its magic on you. No matter what the liberals say, you can never completely get rid of the appeal that a "blood and soil" mentality holds. Nationalism is built into human beings. We are tribal creatures. It also helps that Rico acts like a prize twat.
Is their some kind of code that films and games have to stick by were you aren't aloud to show humans being the villians or the aggressors?, like seriously the Helghast are only defending themselves after being exiled to that shitty ass planet because the UCN couldn't except the fact the the Helghan Corporation was making more money on Veckta.
@CursedEarthTV It's just a copy past of the rising of nazi germany, which rose up because of the economic crisis, aggravated by the Verssailles peace treaty that forced Germany to pay for war damages, denying it defense forces, seizing industrial potential of the country. Then Nazism made it way. And the ISA is simply USA minus one U, plus one I.
@DorianEudesSeverin Good parallel. There's definitely a hint of Soviet Russia in lumped in there too; after all, the Helghast DID revolt after being worked like slaves and economically starved to mine a very harsh planet
We are the Glory Of The Helghan We will DESTROY THE TERRIBLE MICROSOFT ON OUR LIFE AND MAKE OUR NATION OF SONY MORE STRONGER THAN MICROSHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would rather have Radec alive than Rico. Rico is such an asshole and got so many people on his side killed. I'm glad he got punched in the face. I always shoot him at the beginning of every level. Radec was a badass and was an asset to his side. Rico is just a dickhead who think he is black but he isn't.
I havent played any of these games or know anything about them but are 1,2 and 3 in order? or is there different story lines for each or do you have to play all of them to understand the story?
Hehe I believe thats the idea. The people of Helgan are kind of like the Nazis, however in this game its ironic because they are the ones who have the right of way (The ISA invaded them and is trying to wipe THEM out, not the other way around like it was in WWII).
@Stewarts9090 : Did you forget the events of Killzone 1? The Helghast invaded Vekta (ISA) first, which started the Second Extrasolar War, and eventually the events of Killzone 2 & 3.
@cccpKAZIMIRcccp : No, they took Vetka from the Helghan Authority / Corporation. The survivors then evade capture by moving (exiled) to the planet Helghan. Eventually, Helghan loyalist civilians begin an "exodus" to Helghan as well.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 I hope you aren't saying the Helghast are the good guys. From the very first game, they were gunning down civilians and "re-educating" dissenters. In the second game, they continued being generically evil guys, and are still evil in the third game. The Helghast are the most OBVIOUS Space Nazis ever made. Unless somebody just makes actual Space Nazis.
If I were one of the game's designers, I'd be pissed about the amount of people rooting for the Space Nazis.
@goodbyecat1 The Helghan Corporation settled Vetka and Helghan. They became so prosperous through their own ingenuity and constitution that they declared independence. The nice thing for the ISA and the UCA to do would have been to grant them their hard earned independence, but the ISA instead waged a vicious guerrilla war until the UCA came into system and annihilated everything. The "Helghast" were then banished to the toxic surface of Helghan.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 I understand that, but the ISA aren't doing anything bad in the Killzone games, whereas the Helghast are committing war crimes and being just plain generically evil. Just watch Killzone 1 and 3's openings, and it should be perfectly clear that during the events of the games, the Helghast are meant to be Space Nazis/Evil people.
The support of the Helghast among Killzone fans is generally a revulsion against the black and white morality that the entire media industry loves to sell (and the public loves to eat up). Killzone is given a realistically morally grey setting and yet portrays one side as evilly as possible as if to be a parody.
In the end, the Helghast are loved because they are respectively resourceful and tragic (the perfect villain) while the ISA are generic and skin deep good guys.
If the Nazi's had won, they would have exterminated their enemies such that 50 years later they wouldn't need to do anything wrong either, just like the ISA.
Killzone bends over backwards to portray the Helghast as "Space Nazis" and the ISA & UCA as the good guys (e.g. giving them well styled fohawks in the midst of every battle); but the appeal of the grotesque, tragic, ingenious underdog vs. the dashing, powerful, hypocrite is nonetheless obvious.
@goodbyecat1 the ISA commited did commit warcrimes, and so did the UCA, the ISA and UCA send the Vektans (now Helghast) to Helgan where they thought they'd die off, how is this any diferent then the nazi deportation camps and syberian labourcamps? and when the Helghast finaly reached enough militairy strength they tried to take back their home, how is this any diferent from the liberation of Europe in WW2? if you do the right thing and it's dismissed as evil wouln't you be angry?
@AzariahKyras The Allies (not including the Soviet Union) didn't "re-educate" their enemies at home, they didn't storm through Europe massacring civilians for no reason, and they didn't execute essentially every single prisoner captured in the entire war. The Helghan IN GAME however, do all of the above. And being restricted to a hostile planet is hardly akin to being kept in a prison camp under threat of death if you try to escape.
@goodbyecat1 read up your war history, during the pacific war, almost every japanese resident in america was sent to a camp because they thought they where spies, and a little over half of those japanese came out of the camps alive.. barely, and now with the signing of the NDAA the army can arrest/torture and execute whoever the want, wherever they want and whenever they want. not to mention the "Solaris incident" where the ISA incinerated the planet from orbit killing bilions in the progress
@AzariahKyras Yeah, there were internment camps in the US, but not "a little over half" of the Japanese came out of them. Virtually every single one (with a few exceptions) came out alive and fine, albeit not financially.
And no, the army cannot execute whoever they want. I'll believe that they can arrest/torture virtually anyone, but that has nothing to do with this anyway. We're hardly even close to being as bad as the Nazis.
@AzariahKyras As for "The Solaris Incident", I haven't finished KZ3 yet but I've been lead to believe that it ends with that happening. Which would mean that, up until the Space Nazis are entirely incinerated, they're still generically evil antagonists.
@goodbyecat1 the ISA and UCA started the war when they wanted Vekta the UCA tried to buy the planet from them (for industrial and mining purposes), the Vektans (now Helghast) didn't want to sell their only home so the UCA send in the ISA to take controll of the planet, half of the Vektans managed to escape the other half was practicaly enslaved by the UCA, they even had a gun to the head (the orbital space station in KZ1) should the Vektans revolve they'd be dealt with.
@AzariahKyras That's all cool and everything, but by the time the games start, the Helghan are now an invading army of merciless and pissed off monsters. The Palestinians have an understandable reason for wanting to take back Israel, but does that make it right for them to bomb buses full of innocent people? No. And it's not right for the Helghan to behave the way they do in all three console games. All I'm saying is, they are meant to be clear cut bad guys.
@goodbyecat1 they where meant to be the antagonists, not evil, living for an ideology is never evil, if that is so then you can call every deed in human history evil, imagine your homeland suddenly being attacked by an overwhelming force and then deported to some shit ass rathole, just because the attackers want minerals and workers to feed their warmachine, the helghasts follow an ideology of righteosness endorsed on them by Scolar Visari, just because 1 man is evil, his followers are too?
@AzariahKyras "Living for an ideology is never evil"
Not even when that ideology is "We should exterminate all the Jews, they are inferior"? I'd assert that living for an ideology definitely could be evil.
And his followers are evil because of every single thing they do in every single game. Seriously, have you even played the games, or did you just read about all this backstory stuff? Watch any given video from the games. "Killzone 2: Templar's Death" for example, in the sidebar
@goodbyecat1 So you're saying every single Nazi soldier was evil because they were forced (key word FORCED) to leave their homes and shoot innocent people? And, besides, like Azariah said, these are the same people who banished them from their homes just for minerals...
@MrZilla999 I'm just assuming that the "The Nazi Doppelgangers are the good guys" sentiment stems from some expanded universe book or something. Unless of course it was cited somewhere in the three primary games of course, but I don't think it was (correct me if I'm wrong, I never got the chance to play the first one)
Basically, if something goes so drastically against everything else in the series, to the point that the makers have to make something this OBVIOUS, then it isnt canon
@MrZilla999 They are evil, whether they were forced to enthusiastically run into battle gunning down civilians without mercy or not. The Nuremberg trials agree with me.
The governing body of one group of people doing something to another people years ago doesn't justify them being completely and utterly evil to those people and their own people(Watch the KZ3 Intro) forever.
They should get over the fact that they lost their planet and stop butchering EVERYONE they come across.
@AzariahKyras And it applies to literally ANY cutscene in which the Helghast have dialogue. If the Helghast are speaking or doing something in game, there's a 100% chance it's something completely reprehensible and evil, to help the players dislike them more.
IE Bombing their own city and blaming the ISA, shooting construction workers, killing people for uniform violations, executing dissenters, Killzone 3's ENTIRE opening cutscene (where Helghan is shown as a DICTATORSHIP).
@goodbyecat1 yes Visari made it into a dictatorship, but not all Helghast are evil, as shown in KZ1 and KZ2 (KZ1 with that Helghast turncoat and in 2 where the train driver stopped the train) and somewhere in the end of KZ3 a Helghast soldier says to the prisoners "nothing personal, just orders." and just because the ISA/UCA say "all Helghast are evil" just because the leaders are psycho, now that's just wrong. but I have to agree on the part where Helghasts have... extreme punishments
@AzariahKyras And I doubt that during the events of the games, the ISA are basically wiping out entire ethnic groups on their planets.
Basically, if the cutscenes of all three main games are screaming in your ear "HEY, LOOK AT THESE RED EYED NAZI LOOK-ALIKES, THEY'RE AGGRESSIVE, THEY'RE RACIST, THEY'RE MERCILESS, THEY NO DOUBT CONSCRIPT AND EXECTUE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE, THEY'RE GENERICALLY EVIL SPACE NAZIS!", then chances are they are NOT meant to be sympathetic.
Shit, I have an Xbox 360 and even I'll admit this game looks freakin' good, good enough to rival Gears of War, and good enough to beat the living shit out of Halo.
My people... Sons and daughters of SONY... This much I vow. The history of these days will be written in blood. By crushing the armies of Microsoft, by seizing the games they thought to turn against us, we were fighting for our very exclusives. But if there are those who would deny us peace, refuse us our rightful place in the Gaming Industry, then...we will unleash such TERRIBLE VENGEANCE, THAT GENERATIONS OF SYSTEMS YET UNBORN, WILL CRY OUT IN ANGUISH!!
Microsoft may steal our titles but they cannot break our spirit even now they advance on our home genre to seize by force what they cannot claim by right They cannot imagine what awaits them We will CRUSH THE INVADERS WITH OUR SALES Though they sweep over our titles like the sands of winter, never again will we bow before them, never again have to pay to use online play We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares. They will know Gaming belongs to SONY. *Sorry ran out of characters D:
the opening speeches are probably the most emotionally wrenching, like anger and horror and impression, of any video game kinda like the epic cutscenes in halo (music makes things great)
@davrosmax Presumably it took a long time for the full force of the air to hit the Helghast since they had all those medical facilities in the first games's intro.
They might have also terraformed it slightly.Dunno.
Every single time they promote Helghan so well and make me hate the ISA. Why the fuck do they force us to fight against the side I love and they promote with the side that disgusts me that were forced to play as?
Don't really see why helghast are supposed to be 'bad guys' listening to the opening sequence for the first game it seems like the helghast are the victims
Actually they ARE the victims, the ISA stole Vekta, wich was THEIR planet, just because it was rich of minerals, and now these BASTERDS conquer Helghan...
@stabproofsheep that's the point of propaganda, lol. it's supposed to make you side with them. there's propaganda from both sides in these games and that's what makes them so amazingly great, they're realistic as far as the story goes apart from the sci-fi part of course, lol.
I hope Guerilla Games have something veeeery good to take over Scolar Visari's moving speeches. My first experience with the Killzone series was though this very same rendering. It didn't make me a Killzone fan, never been and never will be... I have always been a very proud Helghast
the previews looked way better then this intro, why do people always have to ghetto things up with annoying characters and personalities that probably wouldn't even exist in the future. I bet this game is amazing, but i hate the generic stupid characters that are in every game.
its just a metaphor the helghast are Nazis Germany they were oppresed then went against what they were told to do by everybody else Killzone 2 is World War 2
sorry to pick nits but you can't actually compare it that easily, since germany has been oppressed because they started world war 1 for the austrians.Helghast did'nt start the first vektan war. That's the crux for all the game's story...
@DragonRapist98 NOt really apart from the beginning and end this game has no story to speak of. Something there are really trying to improve on in 3. Halo has a far better story
Helghans ARE human! 200yrs ago some people left earth and tried to find other planet to live. When they understund the air is unbreathable. They wanted to strike back to earth. Thats why gas maskes
Helghans ARE human! 200yrs ago some people left earth and tried to find other planet to live. When they understund the air is unbreathable. They wanted to strike back to earth. Thats why gas maskes
not really precise Yes they are humans forced away to live on a diffrent planet the planet changed their bodies
first it weakend them but in the end they grew STRONGER
they had to put those mask on because they had difficulty breathing at first you can clearly see in the trailer that no ISA trooper wears a gasmask and some helghast can live without it like visari they wanted revenge for their ancestors for being driven away not for clean air
Well at least the soldiers and people of the ISA are human. I mean look at the helghast they're like stormtroopers from Star Wars except the helghast are like a trillion times worse than them.

AzariahKyras 1 week ago
@AzariahKyras "Living for an ideology is never evil"
Not even when that ideology is "We should exterminate all the Jews, they are inferior"? I'd assert that living for an ideology definitely could be evil.
And his followers are evil because of every single thing they do in every single game. Seriously, have you even played the games, or did you just read about all this backstory stuff? Watch any given video from the games. "Killzone 2: Templar's Death" for example, in the sidebar
goodbyecat1 1 week ago
@goodbyecat1 So you're saying every single Nazi soldier was evil because they were forced (key word FORCED) to leave their homes and shoot innocent people? And, besides, like Azariah said, these are the same people who banished them from their homes just for minerals...
MrZilla999 1 week ago
@MrZilla999 I'm just assuming that the "The Nazi Doppelgangers are the good guys" sentiment stems from some expanded universe book or something. Unless of course it was cited somewhere in the three primary games of course, but I don't think it was (correct me if I'm wrong, I never got the chance to play the first one)
Basically, if something goes so drastically against everything else in the series, to the point that the makers have to make something this OBVIOUS, then it isnt canon
goodbyecat1 1 week ago
@MrZilla999 They are evil, whether they were forced to enthusiastically run into battle gunning down civilians without mercy or not. The Nuremberg trials agree with me.
The governing body of one group of people doing something to another people years ago doesn't justify them being completely and utterly evil to those people and their own people(Watch the KZ3 Intro) forever.
They should get over the fact that they lost their planet and stop butchering EVERYONE they come across.
goodbyecat1 1 week ago
@goodbyecat1 ISA SCUM :)
MajeD7Sama 1 day ago
@AzariahKyras And it applies to literally ANY cutscene in which the Helghast have dialogue. If the Helghast are speaking or doing something in game, there's a 100% chance it's something completely reprehensible and evil, to help the players dislike them more.
IE Bombing their own city and blaming the ISA, shooting construction workers, killing people for uniform violations, executing dissenters, Killzone 3's ENTIRE opening cutscene (where Helghan is shown as a DICTATORSHIP).
goodbyecat1 1 week ago
@goodbyecat1 yes Visari made it into a dictatorship, but not all Helghast are evil, as shown in KZ1 and KZ2 (KZ1 with that Helghast turncoat and in 2 where the train driver stopped the train) and somewhere in the end of KZ3 a Helghast soldier says to the prisoners "nothing personal, just orders." and just because the ISA/UCA say "all Helghast are evil" just because the leaders are psycho, now that's just wrong. but I have to agree on the part where Helghasts have... extreme punishments
AzariahKyras 1 week ago

@davrosmax Presumably it took a long time for the full force of the air to hit the Helghast since they had all those medical facilities in the first games's intro.
They might have also terraformed it slightly.Dunno.

Don't really see why helghast are supposed to be 'bad guys' listening to the opening sequence for the first game it seems like the helghast are the victims
stabproofsheep 1 year ago
@stabproofsheep
Actually they ARE the victims, the ISA stole Vekta, wich was THEIR planet, just because it was rich of minerals, and now these BASTERDS conquer Helghan...

@Skorndar: watch the ending bro, Helghan will have their revenge :)
AltairKamahl 1 year ago
@stabproofsheep that's the point of propaganda, lol. it's supposed to make you side with them. there's propaganda from both sides in these games and that's what makes them so amazingly great, they're realistic as far as the story goes apart from the sci-fi part of course, lol.

its just a metaphor the helghast are Nazis Germany they were oppresed then went against what they were told to do by everybody else Killzone 2 is World War 2
chowder508 1 year ago
@chowder508
sorry to pick nits but you can't actually compare it that easily, since germany has been oppressed because they started world war 1 for the austrians.Helghast did'nt start the first vektan war. That's the crux for all the game's story...

@TheHartmanis
not really precise Yes they are humans forced away to live on a diffrent planet the planet changed their bodies
first it weakend them but in the end they grew STRONGER
they had to put those mask on because they had difficulty breathing at first you can clearly see in the trailer that no ISA trooper wears a gasmask and some helghast can live without it like visari they wanted revenge for their ancestors for being driven away not for clean air
Dregunof 1 year ago
@TheHartmanis yes they are human but the atmosphere on the planet is slightly diffrent First it weakened them but in the end it made them stronger
they have to wear those mask because the have been exposed to it for a long time
that's why you see no ISA trooper wear gasmasks
they don't fight for Clean air they fight for revenge for being exiled from earth All HAIL Helghast
