no it does not require internet.. It does have Internet explorer but you don't have to use it or sign up for a data plan

it's not as bulky as people say it is its actually quite lite, the internet is prittay good, camera is alright.I sold mine since i have way to many phones, if you're wanting to buy it search for Samsung Blackjack II.
