  • You the awesome man ever Thank you so much

  • A guitar string works great for this, specifically a fatter one like a 5th or 6th string. They are flexible yet springy so they go around bends well and spring back. Bend the tip into a very short hook shape

  • Awesome video! Thanks!!

  • Thanks so much, that totally worked!

  • @FriesIWant Awesome.

  • Great video! Fun explanation too :) thank you for sharing!!

  • @GonzifyYourself Thank you very much.

  • I have a bottle cap stuck in mine and now it won't drain at all. I let my cat play with the cap and she ran to the tub and dropped it down the drain!

  • I just want to say thank you! I live in an apartment and didn't want to risk damaging the piping (and then being charged for it) by using chemicals to unclog the drain. I watched your video and your method worked perfectly; I was able to remove the clog completely! So, thank you!

  • I have this same problem except the water level is so high in the tub that I cannot even see the hole anymore. I guess I need to get a bucket and remove some of this water before I can get to work on the clog.

  • Wire will work on a really easy clog, but if it's built up over time you probably need a snake. And don't mess around with some pathetic Z crank thing, a 25' snake-in-a-can-on-a-drill costs $20 or $25; nothing like hearing that thing buzzing its way through the pipes. It should go in through the overflow though, that first bend after the drain is a bitch!!

  • Im about to vomit after this one... now i have to clean my own drain, thanks bro

  • Good God man! Get some gloves O_o

  • O_o Good God man!!!!!! Get some gloves

  • I tried this method in my tub, however beneath the little screen that you remove, there is a crosshair about 1 inch down that makes it very difficult to maneuver the wire hook around or even pull up big clumps of gunk. Any tips for this?

  • @AztecWarrior4U No not really, just to try try and try again. Otherwise you'll have to remove the trap and that could be a big pain in the rear.

  • @DominickDiy Yes, I was afraid that would be the answer! Looks like I'll just have to be patient! Thanks

  • @AztecWarrior4U make sure your hook is small enough, I had that problem too (though I used a coat hanger).

  • Eurgh, good thing I wasn't eating when -- oh, wait.

But seriously, good little technique. Will definitely be giving this a try this weekend.

  • that is beautiful

I used this method and WHOA! I found an elephant and a spoon O.O

  • I'm curious why drains must have all those "traps" in them... why couldn't they be designed so that everything - water, hair, gunk and all - just slithers right down into the sewer?

  • @drhippogriff it blocks the smell from the sewer from getting into your house

  • @drhippogriff Traps block sewer gas from coming up.

  • @drhippogriff Additionally, the trap under the sink keeps your wedding ring from going straight down into the sewer!

  • You could poor a chemical down, but manuel labor always saves money, wooo whooo give me something to to do.

  • @bma852 You could do that. But I like the wire trick when it can be done.

  • Ill tear apart my p trap before i poor chemicals down my spout to destroy my septic system. It's fun anyways, I always love to see what comes up, mostly my girlfriends pubic hair...

  • @bma852 lol too much info dude

  • u inspired me to get off my ass and fix the clog

  • this vid is spot on, fixed my clog, had a freakin plastic shaver cover in the trap rofl

  • @nmelkon1 Thank you very much.

  • Great stuff Dom!

  • Great tip Dominick! If the wire trick doesn't work you can try removing the overflow cover. If there is a trip lever like the one in your video, the internal stopper is often covered with hair and gunk and can be cleaned off. If not, it offers a straighter shot to the trap for the wire trick. Again, great video and great website too :)

  • STOP USING CHEMICALS AND STAET USING BRUTE FORCE, TASK A PLUNGER. PLUNGE AT IT FOR 15-14 SECONDS and wah hal lahhhh

  • it eats the hair , may not be super fast but it works

  • just poor sum bleach down there

  • @comtech93230 Bleach "SH @ 5% " wont do a thing except clean mold or mildew. It wont have a effect on hair at all.

  • did it with a wire hanger and works great, thanx

  • I like the snake-in-a-can devices that can be attached to a cordless drill; they sell them at HD and Lowes for about $20. These can get a clog up to 25 feed down the pipe and are great for drains which have become slow after years of buildup throughout their length. I'm also not a fan of strainers; they probably keep the clogs that build up closer to the top, but they also catch some hair which would otherwise make it out of the house and make it harder to keep the tub clean.

  • i did this, pulled out some hair and now it is more clogged.... how do i fix this?

  • Ugh, I'm off to do this. Even though it's going to be my hair, it's still going to be gross. Great video!

  • Nice shirt! Thanks for posting this quick fix. Sure beats using liquid plumber once a month at just a fraction of the cost. Cheers!

  • @Frizzied Thank you very much. Yes it's cheaper and better for your drain system.

  • I like the part "Obviously, not from my hair".

  • @ptyk LOL Thanks

  • That's not that disgusting....I usually pull up 3x longer soapy hair infested from mine...same method as yours.

  • @AccuracyMarked This is very true, LOL where do you think all my hair went.

  • eww gross

  • good,, works well.

  • I just watched your video and unclogged my shower drain! Thanks for the help! Where do i send the check?...LOL!

  • i didnt know having hair was a "problem"

  • i couldn't stop looking!!!! at you shirt of course!!! man this video is all about the shirt man!

  • @davidgomezstudios I still have that shirt. When ever I wear it people can't stop asking where I bought it. The truth is I needed a T shirt in a hurry, so i ran into a Wlamart and bought it for $4.00

  • Thanks Sexy !!

  • best way is wire coat hanger with hook at the end

  • lol that was easy :D since im the culprit of the clogging on my home's bath, i have to unclog it. Im gonna try this on the weekend thanks :)

  • @LinWilliam Thank you. Yea you can always go bald like me then you can blame it on the wife like I do. LOL

  • lol did all that hair come out of your head? love the shirt by the way

  • @Bahzad23 Yes it is, but not all at once.

  • I can't get my drain cover off because it is shaped like a saucer with a knurled knob on top and does not unscrew, is not a reverse thread and I can't pull it out with any reasonable amount of force. I must be missing something obvious. thanks for any help.

  • lol I can't stop looking at your shirt......o_0

  • thank you so much. this helped alot :)

  • @TheNewQueenB LOL glad you like it. I bought it at Walmart for $6.99

  • I just dump 1/3 gallon of bleach and it eats up the hair in minutes. Cost less than $1.50 at any grocery store.

I don't like to play around in that rotten crap.

I've had my share of sickness sticking my face in toilets and sewer pipes. Yuck!

  • Best. Video.

  • Thank you very much. As you can see it wasn't my hair, lol

  • @DominickDiy lol. thanks for the video. gonna give it a try :-)

  • Sure thing

  • Awesome always nice hear.

  • thanx but

    please wear gloves

  • Hi Dominicdiy, I got a problem here, with a shower drain, its flooding alot, and Im in a small apartment, it seems the kitchen and bathroom sink are link and if I used both of them they seem to be pumping the water through the bathroom shower drain. I purchased all sorts of drain cleaning items. and I use a hanger and clened and it still clogged. can you please recommend anything? I heard maybe some of the pipe might got some harden clunk.

  • Sounds like you have a bad clog. I think it may be time to snake out the lines... Please ask questions on my site. As I can give you way more detail.

  • i got sand all in my drain pipe and now it clogs the whole thing and i don't know what to do .... pleas help

  • Great video 5/5

  • Dominick, That was GREAT. LOVED you're reaction to the rat thing you brought out. I've got a tenant that's suppose to do this to her tub as part of the lease agreement but she refuses. So this is EXACTLY what I was looking for to go over and fix it for her instead of paying a plumber $125 to snake the ENTIRE line! Instead I can try this and Hopefully make everyone happy. Again, GREAT VIDEO!!!

  • I have the type of drain that you step on to plug it. It doesn't have any screws that I can see... so how do i get it out of the way?

  • Please ask on my site as I can go into more detail there. askmediy.

  • @meow0meow7 im having the same problem, did you ever find out how to do it?

  • @thisisgame Just take the plus thing and twist it counter clockwise until it comes off (which may take forever.)

  • The chemicals are extremely basic. They will basically destroy anything they come in contact with. I'm debating on wither I should kill the fishies or do this disgusting, nasty procedure with me and my roommate's bathtub.

  • @crazysoccerman14 be a man. chemicals dont work that great anyways.

  • at 2:26 u just pulled a dead rat out of the drain lol!!!

but still nice video...helped to unclog my bathroom drain

  • Thanks a lot. I just fix the clog according to the video

  • My shower drain is clogged, the water just wont go thru at all..it takes like 2 hours for about 3 gallons of water to go through. I tried unclogging it with the snake but it doesn't pick up anything. I dont get any hair or anything, and the snake goes in about 4-6 feet. I tried with many differnt snakes many times, and draino doesn't help at all..what do you think I should do?

  • Hi, I would love to help you. Could you please go to my site askmediy. so I can help you better.

  • how do you get a peace of plastic like for instance a razor protector out of your drain?

  • A long pair of needle nose pliers should do the trick. Or you have to remove the trap, if you can get to it.

  • maan,.. my shower drain is clogged up with hair, and soap etc.. i really DO NOT want to do this.. i looked down the drain today and literally nearly through up.. :( it was disgusting.

i'll force myself to try this tomorrow. sigh...

  • Yup that's what it looks like.. I know but someone has to do it, lol.. Good luck..

  • Very clear and helpful. Wish I had looked it up before buying the Drano (and tossing the receipt). Thanks.

  • Thank you very much. glad I could help. Who hangs on to receipts anyway, lol.....

  • I think this is an excellent video. Saved me a lot of bucks during these economic times.

  • Thank you very much...

  • glad I could help, yes these days times are hard for all of us. No matter who you are or what you once were...

  • Hey, its cousin IT. :P

BTW: if you rent your home, chemical drain openers are commonly banned in the lease agreement, due to that reason of plumbing damage they cause. :|

  • thanks! good tip!

  • mmmm yummy. keep playing in that dirty body water....yea

  • my tub IS COMPLETLY CLOGGED. the water wont budge and i have been plunging for hours and it is NOT WORKING - HELP!

  • I can help you a lot better if you come over to my site. For back and forth questions and answers. for starters how old is your tub. I need to know the design of it. The age will really help me with that.
