  • Why do all these Australian bands, from these guys t2o INXS, have that crazy beat? What happens t2o white people when they spread out around the world and go native? And what is it about the nature of Australia that makes white people sound like this?

  • GREAT++++++++++

  • Nah this sounds great! A perfect rendition for a slow dance. yea? Its a real smooth and full sound compared to the Easybeats version.. I would rank this almost twice as well put together than the original.

  • he lead singer is similiar looking to Dean Cain (tv's superman)

  • The lead guitar is not exactly Jimmy Hendrix!

  • Surely those haridos were daggy by the mid 60s?

  • Oh and, not to mention the guitar solo in the Easybeats version, was fucking shit, this one at 1:35, much better

  • @matty007007 This version is nice, but honestly, it feels a little TOO clean for this song. The Easybeats performed this song with much more passion. There was a raw quality to it, and Vanda's guitar solo was much more interesting and sexy. While the Thorts did a good job, this guitar solo is pretty, neat, and boring.

  • @sugarplumjvl

Your right, I just listened to the Easybeats version again, allot more gritty than this one, it's a bit better I admit, but I still think this guitar solo is better, even if it is a little bit boring :P

  • Sounds allot cleaner than the Easybeats version, but their both just as good as eachothers.

  • i reckon lead singer was fukin snake bit, maybe he been chewin on a dugite.. or lickin a toadie, one thing tho! sure as shit stinks, he is havin a good time eh.

  • more thunderbird puppet than man.

  • Man...I was born in 1965...I should have been a teen during these times...seems like the music scene was more hip...

  • funny, he looks like a very young Bob Dylan (but stoned & happy)

  • @manc1206 hahaha "but stoned and happy"

  • Do you know what year this is? Pretty cool find.

  • the singer looks to be drunk and retarded

  • Very cool song........nice beat.

  • Is that Stevie Wright singing from the Easybeats?

  • @Dawn1959 No. The lead singer in The Thorts is Ray Van Ross. The Thorts usually sang other people's songs.

  • love those 60's suits

  • unplugged perform on electric instruments

  • Impressive, fresh and still very relevant.

  • What i love about these old clips is some of the old fender / gibson guitars you see in them,,, ie like in this clip an old fender L series strat

  • Tremendo !!!!!! Buenísimo !!!

  • simplemente es sorprendente!!

    MODS!!!

  • This is EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ray you Rock!!!!

  • I feel humbled but hey I'm still rockin...

  • Geez: Where did you get that from? Awesome!!! Love it!

  • I'm from Perth like these guys. There has always been a strong Mod scene here - both 60's and the revival in the mid to late 70's.

Perth is basically so far from everywhere that if you wanted quality modern music, you had to make it yourself.

Isolation still drives the independent music scene here. And it's STILL infuriatingly hard to get bands to tour here. It's both a good and bad thing

  • I sing this song to my girl, Victory, cause I like the passion and she is the most gorgeous woman in the world! <3

  • Australia makes some amazing music then and now. Never get a look in though really, so far away from everywhere they often get overlooked.

  • @thebandcoca Better believe it - the world don't know what it's missing.

  • Well bugger me, not bad at all.

  • tis ruuuuulez! rockrs and garage mods....pure oz!

  • the instruments are unplugged!

  • I don't like it :( but is intresting because is usig an stratocaster and a jass bass o.

  • that is fuckin rubbish.

  • wats the name of the song

  • For My Woman...

  • The Thorts were definitely the best band in Perth in their day - Ray, Vic, Harry, Nigel & Les - the best Shadows cover band around.

When they played as the Titanics, a girl singer by the name of Cindy used to front for them from time to time - sounded just like Connie Francis. Unfortunately she would get stage nerves more often than not.

If you listen real hard, you can sometimes still hear them playing at the Kalamunda Hall.

  • I came across this song last week and listened...I LOVE IT...I've been back four or five times since. How do I get a copy of this?

  • WOW THIS is AWESOME I LOVE IT TY FOR POST never heard it before but 10****************

  • hahaha at 2:00 it looks like nudge from 'hey dad'!!

  • This is very skillfully staged and shot, especially for a '60s TV show. And the quality of this copy is really excellent as well. Not much has survived from old TV shows anyplace in the world so it's always good to see stuff like this.

  • damn this is sick

  • Assolutamente splendido!

  • No kidding...I haven't heard this for ages....Tks. alot mate to place it on yourtube. Hummmm...What an age!!!

  • wow, never heard of this group or as a matter of fact never heard this tune. And I grew up in the 60's

  • No i never heard it either and my radio was always on.

Cool Guitar at 1:36 Really 60's music...........

  • sixtiesforever, yes, and we both have probably listened to every 60's band that has ever existed. look at their suites, pre beatle look of 65'. I'm from St. Paul, Minnesota and many bands have come up through the ranks here in the twin cities. take care partner, keep in touch

  • salv...............it's just a good old true 60's tune/that's just the way it was back than 40/45 years ago..........life was a different bread..............music changes every decade, you need to accept the fact/it's just the way it is and the way it was brother

  • I don't think salvadorsalvona meant that it was crud because it was from 40 or 45 years ago. I think he just believes that it's crud regards of what time it's from.

Just a thought. btw, I don't think it's crud, not the best I've heard surely, but certainly not crud.

  • Eh, you're an idiot, SalsaBologna. It's what the arrangement of the notes that evoke a mood that defines a sound, you twerp.

  • bello l'assolo

  • Pretty great cover. Love the deep deep deep bass on this one.

  • Un sacré bon retour en arrière, superbe chanson !

  • Very cool. I'd go see and dance to them. Nice bass sound.

  • Well Well Well Just ahows you what Aussie Bands were all about in the early 60's

Shame they did'nt go to the Eastern States.

Good 12 Bar Blues Riff. Bravo !!!!!

  • dope

  • after more than 40 years still VERY VERY GROOOVY

  • The Thorts are excellent! This is such a very cool cryptic moody song! To me, this era of 1964-67 will always be the greatest time in Rock Music history! The Thorts will live forever! Rock on! 1966 Forever!

  • Thank you, thank you. I'd forgotten this song.

  • I can Hear Bo diddley, and the easybeats, in this song good stuff,

  • My recollection of the Thorts is that they were the best band in Perth in their day, better than Johnny Young & the Shadows even. Just a shame they didn't go East, as they would have easily got a record deal.

  • fact:

    worst sentence ever.

  • @humanzee503 which one?

  • O wow ... kd lang once sang in an Aussie band

  • Hi hass62

What bands did you go on to play in after The Thorts ?

  • The lead singer looks a lot like George Young don't you think

  • He looks like Captain Kirk, actually, graduating from Star Cadets ......

  • Hi fatalblades the thorts went the way of many bands (remember the movie committments)however four of us are still alive and kicking but i am the only one still playing thanks yvesofzo for the complement

  • Which one are you? Why does the lead look so tense?

  • Thorts the way it was.

  • whatever happened to the thorts?

  • thort you'd never ask

  • great band wow

  • GREAT. LOVE IT ! Thank you so much for sharing tomtokenator :)

  • simply great!

  • indeed, mod style! Awesome tune!! guitar solo is enchanting

  • Mid sixties??? this looks like 62-3

  • Strangely hypnotic... I freakin LOVE this song!!

  • cool !

  • can't find this song :(

  • original is by the easybeats.

  • love this, all these aussie vids dissappeard....but here they r again! I do't think I have any thorts on any vinyl I own, too bad

  • I'd like to see more of this!

  • Man I love this!!!! I was born in the wrong era....grrrrr..Today`s music is so disgusting..i can listen to this forever and cant get enough...

  • Think of the bright side, you coulda been born and dead before it was made .....

  • I agree. It never occurred to me that Australia and New Zealand had as many, if not more, great bands. These guys are good!

  • Usually I'm a bit suss about Easybeats covers (There can be only one!) but these guys are great! Are there any more Thorts clips about??

  • Fantastic hass! what a great flashback to those days! great clip! and yes, hilary55, we watched and listened to the US and UK rock and roll scene back then, but we also had (in my opinion) almost as many great bands and music. The only difference really was the "machinery" to get those bands into world charts, so most simply stayed local. Every great band started as a local band.

  • The band members were trying to think up a name and would say got any thoughts? And then we decided to make it thorts instead of thoughts to make it more noticable

  • with regard to hillary's comment we had and still have a vibrant music scene in Perth western australia.

    (i'm playiung the white guitar)
