  • Cool !

  • Hush!!!!! Great song !!!!!!![~_~]

  • It's nice to be rich enough to have supergroups over for a bit of a suarez! Couldn't do it nowadays - bands are too greedy.

  • Look guys, there are two Elvises here!

  • Both Hugh and Deep Purple still rocks, that´s quite amazing.

  • after the performance they had a fuckin crazy party there...

  • Damn good performance, I love how its so clear and sounds like you're there.

  • What would Jim Morrison say..? Dan O'Niallain

  • This song is an absolute classic- one of my top ten favorites. Long live classice rock.

  • Trim.

  • It looks like an Austin Powers movie!

  • @xuxis2008 Well, it was the 60's!

  • @xuxis2008 No. Austin Powers movies look like this.

  • SEX, PLAY BOY AND ROCK AND ROLL

  • DP at their quietest ever !!

  • whatdayamean?? that's some bad ass hair!! Did the band look nervous?? I don't know...all that pussy...just sayin.'

  • That is absolutely frightening! Was it hallowe'en?

  • The terrifying and nightmarish part is that Hugh Hefner and a lot of these Playboy Bunnies from 1969 will be joining their predecessors in Hell for All Eternity. Perhaps, they better convert to the Catholic Faith Immediately. Do Not Delay...Dan O'Niallain

  • LOL Were they all wearing wigs? That is some bad hair dude.

  • I don't think I've ever seen so many bad haircuts in one group. Sterling work gentlemen.

  • The 60s was the Decade!!

  • I can't believe that members of Deep Purple thought their house was haunted in 1968 when Jim Morrison was still alive...Dan O'Niallain

  • Hugh is one man that has had a good life

  • リッチーがこんなに明るいの珍しいなw

  • For the love of God, turn Jon Lord's Hammond UP!! Whoever did the sound on this should be shot and pissed on. I wonder what Rod Evans did with the roll of provolone after removing it from his trousers?

  • The haie is EPIC!!!

  • @shockblast79 Hair*

  • A band actually playing live on a TV show in the 60's? Fan-friggintastic.

  • I'm sure Hefner made sure these boys got some nookie.........

As a teen, we use to hang out outside the Playboy Club on Sunset.

We got to meet many famous celebs and musicians.

Sometimes we even got some nookie................

  • They're like cartoon characters in this vid! They should have done a Saturday morning cartoon, or a variety show. "The Deep Purple & Friends Variety Hour". And Hef? He's the man...fugagetaboutit.

  • Which version of the band is this? Mark 1??

  • @sglandon Yes it's mark one.

  • All those people were on Acid.

  • SURREALISTIC! The way people dance makes me remember an Austin Powers movie!

  • The reason pipes never caught on.

  • Girls you've got to tell Hugh Hefner that he has to go to Catholic Confession to a Priest, or he'll end up in hell instead of purgatory...Dan O'Niallain

  • wow before i saw this video i forgot how old deep purple was lol

  • I saw them in concert many moons ago. Great band!

  • One of my favorite performances to watch...and I wasn't even anywhere near alive back then. My mom may have just been born, haha.

  • so fucking good

  • Ian missed this.. :P

  • I now like the blonde with the striped orange next to the organist, who thinks the playmate next to her might be "wigging out" and the "bleach blonde" in the green outfit with my all time favorites Barbi Benton and the girl in blue gray at the end of the video...Dan O'Niallain

  • great song

  • RODEVANS the voz of heavy metal

  • thumb up if you re a virgin

  • I really seriously think that Ritchie is a wizard. How he was moving, so smooth and actually looking quite wicked. He is hypnotizing and at the same time scares me to death.

He's looking quite hot in this video too. And yes actually, that is the first time I have said that about him...

  • richie solos are so cool

  • Blackmore's do is crazy. Makes him look even smaller.

  • Damn, Hugh Heffner is so young in this, and gotta love the gold pants

  • At the 1:55 mark--note the 'famous' Ritchie Blackmore 'Go to Hell' look he gives every lead singer he works with!

  • What was wrong with the original singer? He was a FABULOUS cross between David Cassidy and Elvis Presley!

  • Ok, Lord, its time to GROOVE THE KIDS!

  • Besides the sexiest girl in this video, the one in blue-grey outfit, I also like the famous Barbi Benton who probably thought that girl was a bitch for "stealing the show at the end" and I also give an honerable mention to the 2 Blondes in green and orange...Dan O'Niallain

  • Besides the sexiest girl in this video, the one in blue-grey outfit, I also like the famous Barbi Benton who probably thought that girl was a bitch for "stealing the show" and I also give an honerable mention to the 2 Blondes in green and yellow...Dan O'Niallain

  • a real "HUSH" for Ritchie... almost no guitar heard... who could imagine what he REALLY COULD DO with it!

  • LOVE this! Thank you!

  • Nice Hair-Do's, HA!

  • Where're Roger Glover and Ian Gillan?

  • @caravaggio31 This is 1968, before they joined.

  • @caravaggio31 not in the band and rightly so

  • Nice to see Gazoo picked up some work playing bass for Deep Purple after the Flintstones gig was up.

  • Comment removed

  • Is that Barbi Benton, in dark red, with the groovy dancing and the beautiful smile...? Dan O'Niallain

  • Some great hair going on here...

I can only aspire to have such hair...

  • I'm surprised that Playboy didn't become the only place Rock and Roll Groups wanted to perform at...Dan O'Niallain

  • I love Deep Purple, but I really prefer MKII. Still, this is badass.

  • best song ever!!

  • Willing to bet there was some LSD dropped at that party!

  • classic. i love this shit. imagine how much bush is in that room!

  • I can't believe, once again the Playmate with the blue-gray "outfit" wins the show with her seductress dance...Dan O'Niallain

  • the critics slated the early MK1 albums but there were some gems if you looked hard enough, Hush is one of them

  • this version sounds weird. i watched this video better and it sounded just like teh album version.

  • That girl in the blue, at the end, says "she wants to see me go where the Angels Are...Hollywood put her in film again..." Dan O'Niallain

  • "I think it would really groove the kids..."

  • always loved the relaxed atmosphere of this program, like a bunch of old friends hanging out in a room together...very nice. wish this series had ran longer, though we're lucky to have so many episodes. so many fantastic artists appeared on this series.

  • Half of them are wearing wigs! LMFAO!!

  • Get a load of those yellow pants he's wearing!!! lmfao!!

  • who's that woman in the green at 1:22? she's sexy!

  • You have to watch out for that Playmate in the blue gray outfit at the middle part to the end. She's most likely a seductress and a temptress. Either that or she's looking forward to some booze and a her "bo-bo". What kind of "angels" she made them see is for you an me...The Legendary Dan O'Niallain

  • @oldiesbutgoodies67 Are you stoned?

  • lot of beauty chicks there

guess they aren't beauty anymore nowadays xD but I would be fine if I was born 40 years earlier :D

  • Heavy metal was still in its diapers at this point in rock history.

  • OMG WHERE IS THE REAL DEEP PURPLE THE SONG IS GREAT BUT WHERE IS THAT TOUGH HARD RİTCHİE ,JON AND IAN THİS CANT BE DEEP PURPLE =)=)

  • check out that guy on the hair playing drums.

  • amigos me provoca comerme una fruna o una vaca vieja jueeejejejejejeje o mejor tomarme una crush con una catalina jejejejeje

  • PLAYBOY!!!

  • Funny to see RB wearing green onstage. He has been quoted (much later) saying he would never wear green while performing .

  • Shagadelic

  • Beautiful women dancing to rock = WIN

  • wow! u just can't recreate those original clothes! and a young version of mr. repulsive as well!

  • man...jon lord's fkn cool.

  • The Bass player & drummer gotta b wearing wigs!!! C'mon.....that hair is unreal!!! No one's got hair that BIG....

  • Some people have really high pants. They are the high-pants people.

  • HUSH!!!

  • not impressed with the singing at all. makes the think the album recording is vocal tricked.

  • hughe what a player

  • lets all the do the black guys dance!

  • Holy fucking Rock and Roll hair... Bands in the 80s thought they had rock and roll hair, but Deep Purple in this clip... that's like 10,000 Hiroshima bombs of Rock and Roll hair devastation. I doubt the combined powers of Ratt + Cinderella + Poison could defeat the hair of Deep Purple from this clip...

  • You've got that right, Hairspray and hairdo's evolved from the 60's to 80's. They look like an Elvis Wig on Steroids.

  • Love this clip, coolest ever. What a fantastic singer Rod was/is!

  • Everyone there got laid after!

  • Groovy. Period.

  • I think most of the guys in the band were using more hair dye and hair spray than most of the gals in the audience. That one guy was practically wearing a helmet! Oddly, the women in the audience seemed so natural compared w/ the gals of today. Lucky for the USA the mod look for men never really took hold here. But yes this is a very good song that stands the test of time and still sounds good today.

  • Hugh Hefner on guitar,, dont miss this one!

  • This vid is a real treat!

    Thanks uploader

  • i was 3 months old when this was recorded. not as good as the studio recording but damn what a piece of pop culture history!

  • blazin to this song agian ;)

  • I gotta get me some of those yellow pants!

  • @JamKar1 Holy shit, I thought I was the only thinking that! XD

  • this would be so much better if rod wasnt wearing those pant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lmao

  • hefner = the godfather of pimp

  • this is an awesome song. not as good as the recording though. how many of those girls do you think slept with hef? check out my bands songs as well if you like catchy stuff click on the blue word to your left to hear us

  • im blazing to this right now[: smoke up toke up

    est. JAN of 91

  • Playboy After Dark had some great groups on, and a very personal atmosphere, like your living room. Although, Hefner was not very dynamic, not a good speaker, kind of presented this "Im better than you" persona, which I found Tres annoying. watch the One with the Grateful Dead, it really grooves,..... Man.

  • very funny hair

  • Cuando Ritchie sonreía.... jajaja

  • @wdmounger ROD has all the moves down and hes a great singer

  • good song, some good music to blaze up to

RIP Bamby my bamboo bong, I had many good smoke sessons with that smooth hitter,2007-2009

  • Better than Ian Gillan.

  • This Video should be in the next Austin Power's movie!!!

  • I'm taking a big toke of BC Purple right this second. This is the kind of music to go with it. Epic.

  • @feloniuschunk true

  • I love Deep Purple, but the singer needs to pull up his gold pants just a *little* higher ;)

  • @ccboz hahaha

  • This would have been better if everyone was n00d.

  • Are those double stroke rolls?

  • Rod Evans is KING! the Original lineup! A GREAT CLIP!

  • Thumbs up if you're singing "Na nana na" with Rod.

  • @Eldryzif Voted down

  • These old color videos of Hef's "Playboy After Dark" from '68 to '71 are pure magic -- its just having a time machine!!!

  • That doesn't look like Ian Gillian singing

  • @tomada36 'cause Gillian at the time was not still DPs' singer

  • i have never seen this!

    o lord the hair

    rip it ritchie

  • This is cool! Another guitar god on the rise!

Long live rock'n roll yeahhhhhhhhhh !

  • bellissssiiimmmooooo questo video sono proprio giovani

  • Thats the real deep purple

  • Epic

  • Battlefield Vietnam :D

  • And now the 10s are here, and its the end of the world again - obama, global warming, 2012, facebook addiction... I wonder what will make the 2020s the worst generation ever. Hover boards?

  • @Marty01Mcfly As if we teenagers don't break our skulls enough as it is with skateboards...Now can you imagine hover-cars replacing regular cars? People have enough trouble driving in two dimensions, don't add a third one!

  • @Marty01Mcfly naw man the 20s r gonna be awesome well im gonna try to make it awesome im trying to make a sound combining cream and deep purple

  • I can now understand when people say that every generation says they are the worst generation. Because when the 60s came along, people thought the world was ending because of all the cultural breakthroughs - drugs, sex, rock music, weird dresses and hairstyles. Same in the 70s, the war, watergate, more drugs and sex, the 80s with metal, game boys and spiky hair, the 90s with grunge rock, baggy jeans and cameron crowe movies, the 00s with bush, 9/11, war(s), utter lack of good music and movies...

  • @Marty01Mcfly Its a progressive thing.

  • 4:01

That black dude is going at it like there's no tommorow.

  • ha ha Blackmore is crazy :D

  • This is awesome! i was born in 1973! always been a deep purple fan.. I have the modern recordings of this song.. one of my all time favourite tracks!! Thankyou for the culture!!

  • thumbs up for the ONE black guy in the video

  • Another You tube Gem!

  • Ian Paice and his blue glasses formed Deep Purple

  • Bright gold spandex in '69? Believe it baby

  • This emo band sucks, just like all other bands of today. They're trying to be like th 70's, but there simply not good enough. fuck this band and their emofaggot hair!!

  • @yitzchak13 You are probably the biggest idiot I have come across thus so far. Apparently you know nothing about music nor history nor respect. What a waste of protoplasm and air.

  • @yitzchak13 i guess you don't know who hugh hefner is either, but that's ok because when this video was made your parents weren't even born yet. THIS IS 60'S ROCK HISTORY AT IT'S BEST!!!!!

  • @yitzchak13 they are trying to be like the 70s? they ARE the 70s you dunce

  • Did they have any problems with the hairdresser?

  • Too bad this wasn't during the Gillan and Glover years they could have played Highway Star and just trashed the place.

  • HAIR VOLUME: check

  • ritchie is a very good guitarrist

in this video he looks fine and comfortable

    bless

  • DEEP FUCKING PURPLE MAN!!!!!! ROD EVANS , AMEN!!!!!

  • dig those groovy duds babies!

  • WoW! Great archive video! Funny to listen to Blackmore in his early years. LOL! He kinda sucked then. Glad he turned into a Monster Guitar player later.

  • @denmar1998 I agree with Blackmore 'sucking' somewhat......I saw some real early footage of the band when they first started....Blackmore really sucked then....I will agree that he vastly improved

  • @denmar1998

You need to do some reasearch my friend.

Sucked !! - Blackmore was one of the countries leading session players, played on thousands of tracks and many hits. Played in the backing bands for many major touring artists, not to mention his gigs with Lord Sutch etc. Go lookup the Joe Meek years or see what Pete Townshend said about the young Ritchie.
