Quite your whining people. It has been proven that lifting will not stunt your growth. Also, he is not overweight, he just has huge muscle mass for someone his age. He probably is technically overweight, but it will be all muscle, not fat.
I've been Powerlifting since I was 13 and now just got into crossfit at 15? Ive grown from about 5'5 to 6'0 in that time soooo it stunts your growth? Naaaa.
@Hiphopisntdead1 Have you seen me saying anything about your height? Workin out at the gym, and powerlifting are not the same. Learn a bit about the human body, powerlifting isn't healthy for a young body.
Because it stumps a kid's growth in height because their muscles are not meant to lift weights that early in life. Have you ever seen Lee Priest's height? Did you ever see what he looked like when he was 14-15 years old?
@rmccay88 The plural of anecdote is not evidence. You're going to have to do better than that...better as in show me the contents of 1 scientific study supporting your claim. All you've relayed to me is hearsay. Lee Priest?!! Seriously, that's the best you've got. Let's back up our claims with the most extreme example imaginable.
So when you have kids you're not going to let them carry heavy objects, or help assist you in moving anything heavy until they are 16?
@UnIosingRanger no educate yourself, lifting with improper form which is common amongst new lifters can in fact stunt growth. i see people in my gym who squat with terrible form, and you know what, they're all short!! im not even joking
@DJDALESS2 Strong source. "but the guise at my gym are short when they squat omg!1111!11" Srsly. I'd rather look at studies of 1000 of people than your view of 10 or 20.
@brbafkgtg well i would love to do an SRS and find out the truth because i think i would be correct, unfortunately i don't have the time to carry out an experiment of that magnitude.
@falloutzombi123 Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
maybe mix in some cardio? bad for a kid his age to be lifting weights...stunts growth. should be focused more on body workouts...eg Pushups sit-ups pull-ups etc. that is how the underaged/developed should start out. however he is putting up weight for an 8 year old
im just ashamed for all the cheaters who insult and hate this poor kid
he is incredible and im sure all the haters who insult him for his glasses or his bodyweight are not able at their ages and especially at 8 to lift this weight
so just shut up fuckers and u will be able to speak when u will be able to lift
@RiddleHD I'm just saying i could ve bench as much as him when i was 8, and donuts, please, i only eat your moms pussy, you little fucking kid, fuck your little ass up.
Some faggies here are saying that they lifted more when they were 8, 8 years old is GRADE 2-3 you idiots. It ain't Grade 7-8. I couldn't lift the bar when I was Grade 7. Now I lift 200 pounds. People starts gaining more muscles around grade 7.
yeah this little kid is nothing. When i was 8 My brothers trained me, i did not touch a weight until i hit puberty, and i could guarantee you that i would've benched as much as that kid. He's going to be short, and fat, thats the end of it.
@ghetoskittles65 u hit puberty around what 15? thats 7 years more then this kid, the bar weighs more then him. shut the fuck up and go bench your donuts
fuck this bullshit power lifting at 8 me and my cousin used to carry food for the animals like herbs and water sometimes twice our own body weight. for like more than a mile and uphill. i don't know about bench pressing but i bet our military pressing was way better when we had to push the the loads of food up a wall so we saved ourselves a trip around to the entrance.
this kid wont be massive because he is destroying his muscles and bones right now, he is too young to be lifting, he is still developing. This is bad for him.
@coolcatrich research to back your claim? i suppose kids shouldnt run, climb, wrestle, or hell even walk for fear of hurting their joints or bones... HOW about this.... during early growth spurts kids heal at a much faster rate than adults can ever dream of. Seems to me that as long as his form is maintained, this is a perfectly healthy sport for him to be involved in... better than sitting at home staring at the tv... any chance that is the reason his father got him into lifting?
Not only are they brave enough to type shit on the internet, but they have the balls to aim it at an 8 year old. Real masculine atmosphere going on right here.
out of anything a father could aspire for their kid to do to at such a young age, why would lifting be at the top lol. Psh, who needs a kid who can play an instrument or play a contact sport or something when my kid can lift stuff! wooooo! that'll help on college move-in day lol
@Blinx482 because none of the major sports benefit from strength? being stronger doesnt make a kid better at football, baseball, and basketball? How about wrestling? no way being stronger than other kids his age could possibly assist him to be better at that partcular sport.... gotta love the abundance of ignorance!!!
@pt191145 Strength training may help kids at that kind of age, but you are looking at a boy who is powerlifting. He's lifting more than he weighs probably and at that young of age when he is in the process of developing and growing, tell me how that is beneficial later on. Sure he'll grow, but ever thought about in what WAY he'll grow? He's better off waiting till he's at the peak of his growth in his teen years, then start training
@Blinx482 show me any research that has ever proven that a child's growth is in any way affected by powerlifting.... show me any research that shows lifting (relatively)heavy weight has any affect on a child's growth and development.... I'll save you the time.
@Blinx482 there isnt any! a simple web search results in several research based articles that debunk the MYTH that heavy lifting (when done correctly) has any negative affect on a child's growth and development... That said, just as with adults, the moment form breaks down the risk for injury to joints and other tissues increases.
That's impressive dude. I have a similar story, Im 16 and have been lifting for nearly 12 months now and have had gains of 160 pounds on my max bench. I'm sure you know what you are doing but if you hit a plateau, try doing weak point training. Helped me.
@ChronoTriggerMusic True but fat allows you to lift more. You take an unactive 200 lb person and make em bench and they'll still pump out 135, you take an unactive skinny person and theyll probably be doin around 95
@tommunist10 Fat does not make you stronger. That is bullshit. Fat is dead tissue. However, when people put on fat, they also put on muscle (if they're working out). That's why they tend to lift more. Calories+ = fat+ & muscle+
@Kavehisftw I disagree. Recently all of this year's freshmen at my school started going to the gym. All of them are copies of each other. They all play the exact same sports, they all eat the same type of shit, they all sit on their asses and watch tv all day long. The two fattest ones lift more than the two normal weight ones who lift more than the two skinny ones. Yet on isolation exercises like the preacher curl they all lift as much as each other. This is why i think fat helps.
@Kavehisftw na, it's cool, i looked it up. Provided with scientific details and, well, logic (why do you think there's different weight classes in lifting/ why do all powerlifters have a high % of body fat) being fat provides you with more leverage helping out some main exercises such as squatting, benching, and most other pushing exercises. Thanks for your opinion though, even though it was wrong.
@tommunist10 Seriously man... You're so wrong.. There are different weightclasses because they have different ammount of muscle and different natural size. Only powerlifters in the highest weightclass have higher bodyfat. Because when you build muscle, you automatically gain fat. That's why bodybuilders have bulk/deff periods. in the higher weightclass, having more weight doesnt matter, and they wont bother deffing down, since they'll lose muscle aswell. send me the science facts, lol.
@defender8314 No, what i said was benching at 8 years old is bad for your body and you have to wait until your muscles mature. I never said sports for kids is stupid, i've played football since i was 8.
@Jakekimch Thats impressive.. way to pick on little kids... lemme stoop to ur level here. I am a girl been lifting 6 yrs I just maxed 215lbs bench... my first max in highschool when I was 15yrs old was 110 bench. I am not saying I am the ish.. the point is that there is always someone better... this kids set a NATIONAL RECORD! I would say he is doing pretty good for himself fat or not.
@Jakekimch Im 15, started lifting in January, and went up over 100 pounds on bench in 10 months. Im hitting 210-215 Max right now. I would hope you bench more than an 8 YEAR OLD CHILD. Smh.

@tommunist10 It's really not about what you think or don't. Fat does not make you stronger.

Thanks for your opinion though, even though it was wrong.
tommunist10 1 month ago
@tommunist10 Seriously man... You're so wrong.. There are different weightclasses because they have different ammount of muscle and different natural size. Only powerlifters in the highest weightclass have higher bodyfat. Because when you build muscle, you automatically gain fat. That's why bodybuilders have bulk/deff periods. in the higher weightclass, having more weight doesnt matter, and they wont bother deffing down, since they'll lose muscle aswell. send me the science facts, lol.

@Kavehisftw You're right but being fat shortens the bench rom, too.

@defender8314 No, what i said was benching at 8 years old is bad for your body and you have to wait until your muscles mature. I never said sports for kids is stupid, i've played football since i was 8.

@Jakekimch Im 15, started lifting in January, and went up over 100 pounds on bench in 10 months. Im hitting 210-215 Max right now. I would hope you bench more than an 8 YEAR OLD CHILD. Smh.
