  • I wonder does he ever get splinters :-)

  • why cooney's guitar has such a huge hole in body? I suppose it's related with hard strumming with pick, isn't it? I have heard that classic guitar body is not suitable for such game, or am I wrong?

  • Super rhytme

    TheCARENTAN

  • thats really good:)

  • c!mon on the kindom

  • yes the pogues put it on the end of south austrlia these men are great too

  • Does anyone know the name of the first tune that they play here? Can't seem to find any Begley & Cooney CDs anywhere. Would anyone recommend Begley's other collaborations?

  • I have their CD worn out. Cooney & Begley were brilliant when they were together.

  • clarebannerman you're the man, this was the most exciting trad band in the world ever (well in my world anyway) it's such a pity they're not gigging still... who knows there might be a reunion tour. Thanks a mil for posting this.

  • Wow! I love the dramatic end. Thanks for posting.

  • I look at the guitars of Willie Nelson, and Tommy Emmanuals which show more than a little wear, and must say that the guitar of Steve Cooney is the winner! :)

  • Fantastic playing there that really uplifting polka that kicks in at 0:40 is called The Siege Of Ennis.

  • @Stargreened Also known as "Salmon Tails Down the Water" and as "The Kerry Polka" as recorded by the Pogues(1st tune on the boxed set of cd's)!

  • epic! just can't beat Irish traditional music lol nothing in this world like it

  • Sliabh Luachra music fucking kicks ass!!!!

  • True, but Begley is from West Kerry (Corca Dhuibhne), a 90 minute drive from Sliabh Luachra now, and a lot longer back when the regional styles were formed. Similar music, though I doubt Begley would say that he plays Sliabh Luachra music.

  • Hmmm...never thought of that. Thanks.

  • When I was a little girl I use to take accordion lessons. I don't know if I remember to much. He seems to know his way around the accordion though. My accordion had more bass keys.

  • thats the way, music with life... im sure anybody within earshot would be moved by such energetic playing We need more..

  • What on earth happened to your man´s guitar? I have never seen anyone perform live with an instrument in such a state. If he likes it so much, couldn´t he try and have it repaired? I feel sorry for it.

  • Wonderful lively tune ! thanks for post Mike.

  • Great! Many thanks!!

  • Fantastic! 5*. Two great musicians and a great set. Most enjoyable Mike. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Terry.
