lip-sync is for films only. classical dancers should use face and hands to express the lyrics! The mouth must remain shut as song and dance are never performed by the same artiste!
Very good, although the dancer on the right is always a step or two behind in the very beginning, which REALLY stuck out to me. Also, like Ramona said, working on the grace in your torso would definitely improve this; your torso seems quite stiff for much of the dance. Your hand movements are very graceful, though, and THANK YOU for actually having facial expressions when you dance! I am so sick of seeing people who look bored during Indian dance.
Very strong performance in terms of confidence - the dancers in the back looked very graceful and well-poised. Nikita, you are a very elegant and confident dancer, though some facial expressions look loud. Connecting with the audience more would help that.
For the most part I enjoyed it. Your form is very good. From a dancers point of view, you hold back (maybe bc of your style of kathak) on your arm extensions and your upper body (abdomen) does not seem to be the source of your movements. Dance was great but as a great dancer these little things would really improve your performance. I see you know more is less. Hope you appreciate the critic.
Thanks for commenting on my performance. your comments are quite encouraging Nikita. Check out the video I just posted where i originally performed kaahe chedh.
The character Chandramukhi, played by Madhuri Dixit, does mainly kathak (the character was a courtesan, and they generally performed kathak. As a bonus, Madhuri Dixit is trained in kathak.)
very good job! one of the best dancers i've seen so far! when you dance to those kind of songs, you get into it and you just become a part of the song and the dance itself! very good job!
I think this song is from the movie Devdas. It's a slow classical dance.. she is expressing her feeling through her facial expression and hand movement along with the song. She's good, she really good... I give her credit..
We saw Nikita perform on Dreamgirls of Bollywood in Sydney. We thought she was all right. I'm sure with dedication and hard work she'll get somewhere. By the way, this dance could have been done really well.
Nice dance .. i just wish i could have seen the footwork when your dancing cuz Kathak is focused on the footwork.. You should do a dance to Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya and any mujra songs from the old Umrao Jaan movie..Dil Kya Cheez is my fav btw ..
Hello Miss nikhita...this is with Mandana...I really enjoyed your workshop and I wish i lived there taht I could join your wonderful group..and Miss Gwenda..you are just wonderful and i m proud you are my teacher in Belgium..xxxxxxxxxxx
good luck to you all and best wishes to your other friend that i have forgotten her..also best wishes to Karen and vereybody..
Yes, i agree with you Pushpanjali, she has very nice face expressions. And yes, nice nice costumes.. But her dupatta was giving her really lot of troubles.. i would be totally upset with this and unable to dance properly if this would happen to me on stage..she seemed not much disturbed with this..
the Girl is very beautiful!

So are the dances in the movie devadas mostly kathak? I tried to find that type of dancing but I only could find hard core classical indian dancing!!

My cousin graduated from Kathak... it's mostly footwork and facial expressions.. mixed with body movement, then why is this so slow.
bad song choice.

Nikita is very good, I like her facial expressions. That is what makes the dance beautiful, not just the choreography. Nice costumes.
