  • Are their claws really sharp?

  • You may still want to have his odor gland removed. Just to be on the safe side. :)

  • @threeby8887

His were removed when he was a baby.

  • very funny creature I have skunk too it's a lovely stinker

  • very funny creature I have skunk too it's a lovely stinkers

  • Awwwww ... Buster sure is a cutie - I'm absolutely nuts about badgers! In the wild they are SUPER moms!

  • he is soooooo cute xD

  • Where can you get on im in North Carolina and i havent found a breeder or anything i have the cages an toys an everything it needs an even a vet who will take care but havent fount the skunk yet

  • Sorry, I don't know where you can get one. We got Buster several years ago and that breeder is no longer online. Good luck!

  • Absolutely gorgeous!

I have owned 3 badgers and currently own 10 Ferrets and the yare very similar animals in many ways.

You just know when they play and when they are serious... You just know it.

If you dont know, you get to find out in a very quick and very painful lesson... And then you know.

    LOL

  • Looks like he plays the way cats do.

  • awwwwe, is sooooo cute. I don't know if they make good pets but this is adorable. Looks like a good pet and loves grandma. so cute.

  • He was playing Then. P.U

  • I think some one needs declawed hehe

  • He's really cute! :) I'm just curious, how do you tell whether he's just playing, or whether he's seriously upset? (I don't doubt that he's just playing, mind you, I'm just wondering how one tells.)

  • @Schneelocke

When he's seriously upset, there is no doubt! He makes a horrible noise and goes into attack mode.

  • isnt it bad if the fur is yellow

  • Yes, we think it was a reaction to eating eggplant, of all things. Happened twice. We don't give him eggplant anymore and he stays white. :)

  • aww you're such a cool grandma! i thought it was funny because his scent glands are removed but he's trying to spray... i think. are they good pets? my mom is like "NOO THEY'RE WILD ANIMALS, DANA. THEY WILL BE NOT NICE AROUND THE PETS, NO!!!!!"

  • :) He's been a great pet and is super attached to our daughter. I think they are only good pets if you get them really, really young. He mostly ignores our dog but he doesn't like the smell of the sugar gliders.

  • @christym113 can i have ur skunk

  • @honor21221able

    No ma'am! :)

  • @christym113 awww please

  • @christym113 I'm sorry but what is a "sugar glider"? LOL Very sweet pet! May I ask: would you say does your pet skunk act more like a dog- or like a cat?

  • Buster definitely acts more like an inside-cat. He spends most of his time curled up sleeping. He uses a litter box pretty reliably. A sugar glider is a tiny marsupial (kangaroo, opossum family) originally from Australia. Looks a lot like a flying squirrel but has big eyes because they are nocturnal. If you do a Google search you'll see some great photos. Thanks for asking!

  • @Strawberry1139

He's not actually trying to spray. It's a play threat. Even wild skunks do that with each other.

  • That Grandma Is awesome!!

  • why thank you! :)

  • @christym113 Your Welcome:P

  • "put your tail down~ nothin' ain't happening there" < LOL

  • He doesn't fart? it's amazing to have a skunk as a pet. Have you ever smalled his fart?

  • omg it cats like a cat! so cute!!! ^^

  • What does he eat ? I have never seen "Skunk Food" at the pet store ? Did he ever get mean ?

  • He eats a lot of veggies, chicken, tuna, and he has some vitamins and such as well. No, he's never been mean. He's always been treated with love and affection.

  • hes a dust mop!!! lol!!!!

  • i have a baby skunk for sale..very niCe,well mannerd,and FUN..email me at kylekeg@yahoo.com

  • OMG he is such a cutey! Playful just like this kitten I took in off the street.....hysterical..

  • What a beautiful beautiful skunk, he plays just like my Magick, I just adore skunks :-)

  • Aren't you afraid he's gonna spray you or shit on you or whatever Skunks do?

  • I LOVE HOW SHE SAYS OWWWW! hahaha

  • Awww this is adorable and he loooooves his grandma! Thanks for postin this, truly a joy to watch :)

  • acts exactly like a cat pretty funny

  • Awe, makes me miss our big guy that we had named Goober... We miss him, but I believe that with the reintegration to being independant with his natural instincts that he is doing awesome in the wild... Hopefully hes making lots of babies this year!!!

  • Yeah and what happens when it gets scared for real? Have fun bathing in tomato juice.

  • time to turn off the camera .. i don't wanna show all the people me SMASHING your little head in !!!! lol J/k he looks like a handfull!!

  • thats so cute and funny

  • He looks a little chunky.

  • It's amazing how much skunks play like cats do. cool video!

  • Very cute. My grandma always wanted one of these.

  • aww he's very cute. he would get along very well with mine ;)

  • So cute! I love skunks, and would love to have one but they are banned in the state of IL where I live. Until I move to a place where I can have one legally I will be happy watching the videos posted by the lucky owners who get to keep these fascinating creatures!

  • haha he bit u hahahahahaha

  • Grandma can always make a STUFFED ANIMAL should their relationship don't work out.....

  • Argh! Never!

  • @christym113 how old was he in this video?

  • about a year old

  • @fotograh that was messed up

  • domestic skunks are very cat-like as far as trying to draw an analogy. They are very affectionate, playful, but require more attention to diet and health. Both have sharp as shootin' claws and teeth! However, NEVER, EVER, NEVER hit one.

    they remember.

and they will get you back.

    because they're frikkin smart.

    ;-)

  • Yep, right on that analogy, and of course, never, ever, never hit any pet!

  • @christym113

Absolutely! I've only heard that they are keen on payback - never been on the receiving end (I've never been a practitioner of corporal punishment, and a squirt gun works better anyway), but I like the idea that they determined to express themselves in the face of poor human behaviours. It's more 'determinisn' than defiance. :-)

  • @DasUberwurst

this skunky plays like all my animals... which includes the biting :P

  • Time to turn off the camera? I think that is code speak for, "OK, I was stupid to get a wild animal and try to tame it because now it is attacking me and I think I am going to have to shoot it."

I know Kunks are cute as heck, but in the end it is still a wild animal and can forget it is a pet. I wonder how many people end up seriously wounded from Kunk bites to the face and stuff?

  • *Sigh* Nope. While I am sure some skunks who are not treated gently may not grow up to be docile and loving, our Buster has no idea of being wild - he's affectionate and playful and super laid-back.

  • Okie doke :)

  • @christym113

hell my dog plays like that and bites me like that along with my cats...

HOW IN HELL did dogs become domesticated in the first place?

    by not listening to

  • @christym113 Your skunk is soo cute, I realy want to get a baby skunk, i found out its legal were i am and ofcourse need the permits and appropriate cage in the backyard, could you tell me how to find a skunk breeder? I need a bit help, I have been researching on how to take care of a skunk for a while now :) any information will be very helpful and appreciated. Thank ya, and cute video :)

  • Sorry for the delay in replying! My daughter found the breeder online but it was five years ago and that breeder is no longer online. I don't know of any other breeders unfortunately. I'm sorry! Good luck.

  • @spudnutsncoffee

I think domestic skuns are different from wild skunks... they have been specifically bread for being docile and relaxed (albiet playful sometimes). They are not captured from the wild and brought into the house.

I think some people ask "well didn't there have to be an original, wild skunk way way long before to create these skunks?"

Of course, but the same goes for all animals. Dogs, cats, cattle etc have much more wild descendants

  • @spudnutsncoffee My cat does the exact same thing as he did, holding my hand with all legs and biting. It's just a form of play.

  • @spudnutsncoffee Yeah He's just playin. Some skunks play a A LOT harder then that and will still turn around and cuddle you the second they realize you've had enough rough housing. They are awesome pets, better than cats IMO

  • @spudnutsncoffee

how did dogs get tame in the first place?

from loving people who didnt listen to your kind of advice.

  • She definitely owns a skunk

  • If Elly May was there, she'd make a hat out of U!

  • Nooooo! Ellie Mae loved animals! She didn't wear them! :)

  • He's not playing, he's trying to hide from you, spray you (gland removed obviously), claw and bite you to leave him alone.

  • Sorry, you're wrong. Totally playing. Completely well adjusted little fellow. Older and lazier now, but still playful when he feels like it. Sorry you haven't experienced it.

  • hahaha cute skunk....

  • This is so cute man he plays just like a cat thats so wild!

  • cute cat

  • Does that really hurt? Wow... BUSTER IS SO ADORABLE!

  • Well, his teeth are kind of sharp so when he gets a good playful clamp on you, it does hurt! But he is only playing.

  • Skunks are commonly known to be a better pet than a DOG OR a CAT!!! A vet can take their stinker sac out it butthole V W A H L A H a really sweet and fun Pet.

  • hahah he plays like my cat does :)

  • He's so cute!!! I'm trying to find a skunk breeder near me, having a bit of trouble trying to find one though!

  • They are so adorable, however, I've heard even when the odor glands are removed they still do produce an offensive odor. Can anyone (owner) vouch for that or is it b.s., I'd like to look into owning one.

  • I can tell you frankly that sometimes, when startled, Buster will put his tail up and is probably instinctively trying to spray, but all that happens is a mild - and I can't believe I'm writing this - skunk fart. Doesn't smell good, that's for sure - but whose does? :)

  • Thank you so much for the response. I am seriously considering owning one, they are truly adorable.

  • Heh. Skunk fart.

  • @twilson11208 They still have an odour, but it's not as bad as you'd get from a de-scented ferret.

  • @mephitidae REALLY?! I've found that pet ferrets STINK, so that's a bit of a deterrent for keeping them as a pet.

  • @sennatrem Ferrets do stink! Does a pet skunk smell bad too?

  • @sennatrem pet ferrets do not stink. It is all the owners. You wouldn't even know walking into my house that I have 5 ferrets.

  • If its stink thingy wasnt removed, it be a tomato bath for you :D

  • there just like cats lol!!! but with longer nails and teeth!!

  • where did u get him? I have always wanted one as a pet...I live in maine and I want one so bad! I have a family of them in my back yard and they are really sweet

  • My daughter bought him from a breeder she found online. He really is a sweet pet!

  • Can you hug skunks, and are they nice?

  • Buster loves to be hugged, cuddled and petted. He couldn't be any nicer.

  • BUSTER: Hah, now I got your shirt grandma.

Aww man, so active and happy, I want one too...

Oh well, I hope I can get one in the Future when we're not so busy anymore, my parents are almost every day away for work, I'm alone with two dogs (second reason why I can't have a pet skunk), but I'm bored very fast. If the dogs don't wanna play, they just sleep, not even walking around. That's lazy, which I'll become if I don't have a lil' furry which is very curious. xD

  • I should warn you that at three years old, Buster is EXTREMELY lazy! He sleeps almost all the time.

  • Ironic, EXTREME. :'D

Heh, I also have read some comment that you replied that BUSTER loves being hugged, it's a cuddle animal. And I love them. <3

I want to hug a special pet too, and I mean pet skunks. Sadly, I can't. =_=

  • I wouldn't play very rough with it because then it becomes mean and aggrestive. I always nevered played rough with my pets and they all turned out nice.

  • He liked to roughhouse when he was very little as all frisky little baby animals do. All my animals are very nice and gentle, too, and loves nothing more than an snuggly afternoon nap with me.

  • Skunks are so cute :o Id really like to have one but they are illegal as pets in sweden =/

  • Gee, that would be nice. A cat, or a dog... Just a little matter of my allergies, and liking to breathe. I'm also allergic to feathers, so a skunk was exactly what I thought I needed... And I wouldn't trade any of mine for the world.

  • Hahahahaha, that's sooo funny!

He plays just like a cat!

  • I read that you should protect your hands when playing with skunks XD

  • we certainly love ours, and I hope you are just as happy!

  • haha the last bite he didnt want to let u go, hes cute as hell though XD

  • How do you remove the stinker? I'd want a pet skunk but I just don't know who removes it or how they do it.

  • Buster came to us from a licensed breeder who had the gland removed before he came to us.

  • I'm 26 and I just found out today that there is a such thing as a pet skunk. After 30 minutes of researching on the web, I've decided that I'm going to get a permit and find a breeder so I can buy one.

  • I'm so jealous, wish I could have a pet skunk!!!

  • that ones got a LOT of white lol

  • Are skunks as soft and fluffy feeling as they look? They are beautiful animals.

  • When we first got Buster, his coat was kind of coarse, but now it's very thick and soft. Very cuddly!

  • i saw one at my local ice cream shop and is was the cutest thing ever!

  • Buster came to us from a breeder who had his stink gland removed before we got him. He eats a lot of veggies and cottage cheese and chicken - he eats healthier than we do! :) He is a wonderful pet - very sweet and cuddly. It also helps that he uses a litter box!

  • He's just like my puppy! I want one... hahaha how do you go about having them destinkered? And what do they eat? They seem like they'd make a really nice pet. Adorable!

  • Hi Buster, my skunk Thumper says hi

  • Buster says hi back!!!!

  • It's not a good idea to play rough with skunks. If he bites you, that's okay, if he learns to bite and bites another, it is his death warrant.

  • Hah, Buster is about as dangerous as a marshmallow. But thanks for your concern.

  • cuuuuuuuuuuuuute <3

  • i dont think he likes that. why else would he bite you

  • He loved it. He was a little baby then, always ready to wrestle and play. Just like a kitten or puppy. Now he's pretty lazy. :)

  • Haven't you ever played with a puppy or a kitten and got bit? He's just a little baby skunk..of course he'll nip...

  • so fluffy...i just wanna snuggle. there are alot of baby skunks around my house for some reason. i saw one this morning in my backyard

  • hes adorable * 0 *

  • Thats a cute skunk I always wanted a pet skunk!

  • <:) ouch lol

  • I've heard that about raccoons, too. Buster is three now, and just as cuddly as ever. He can be a bit grumpy when we interrupt his naps but is never, ever mean.

  • I've heard skunks make much better pets than raccoons as they don't turn wild when they're older like said raccoons. True ?

  • a little question..

it that normaly that skunks put the tail up..??

  • Absolutely! It's their number one defense response. They are ready to spin around, put the tail up, and shoot their stinky stuff at would-be predators (with amazing accuracy) at any second. Buster's stink glands (for lack of the proper term) were removed when he was a kit but he will never lose that instinct.

  • thanks :)

    i like the skunks :)

a friend in chicago has 3 skunks

    greeting from Germany

  • Wish i lived in the USA then i could have a pet like that lol, all we got are cats and dogs in the UK, you even have pet squirrels!!

  • your little baby is so happy!

  • your little baby is so happy!

  • That is a really cute skunk! He looks like he's about as playful as a hyper little dog.

  • I just tried to send you a message that was too long for this box, but I'm not an approved friend. Can you add me as a friend so I can make you feel better about your decision?

  • About 11:30am, yesterday, while walking my dog, I found a tiny newborn skunk writhing around next to a curb, on the street. It's mother probably accidentally dropped him there, while trying to move him, the night before. The sun was beating down on him, so I brought him home, & called animal rescue. I then drove to the animal rescue place where a woman said she could take care of it. I wish I had kept it. How much does it cost to have the skunk glands removed & what/how could I have fed it?

  • Ohh it's so cute and playfull! Look at the little feet!!

  • i want one sooo bad

  • I really love skunks, but im not sure how sharp their teeth r, does a sknuk bite hurt any more than a dog bite?

  • I've never been bit by either so I can't say! His teeth are sharp but he never bites except gently in play.

  • oh well thats good, so they'll just bite playfully like a dog?

  • I'm not a skunk expert but, judging by the video, I'd expect it to be more like cat play bites than dog play bites.

Very cute, looks very much like the way I wrestle with my cat, including the "ouch, ouch" parts. LOL

  • Funny it shows his ass all the time :D

  • I will be laughing if she gets squirted!

  • they remove the stink bags lol...

  • the end is so funny! 'time to turn off the camera'!!

  • It's just so delightful and heartwarming to see how animals (and birds), no matter what kind, have a love of play. My squirrel has a whole repertoire of games she wants to play, every single day!

  • ROFL this is hilarious! its citters like these that you would never expect to have such playful personalities! but as it turns out they like playing just as much as a dog or cat! my bird is similar she rolls on her back and grabs your fingers to stop you from tickling her lol :)

  • His scent gland was removed when he was very little.

  • y dont he spray u?

  • That was so sweet. Made my night. :)

  • :) Thank you! if you get a chance, please meet my squirrel - I have a video of her, too - I've turned into a regular Ellie Mae Clampett! :)

  • Aww skunks are so cool!

I love how he's hiding behind his tail, so cute and playful :)

  • HAHA grandma got owned :p

  • He sure did! :)

  • lol buster won! grandma had to turn of camera to get him off of her XD

  • ok skunkie got a lil excited!!! my cat does that, im like "ok chill kitty the claws hurt"

  • Grandma got beat. Go Buster!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Too funny. I never knew skunks could be pets. Very interesting.

  • Ive always wanted one. Thats really neat to see.

  • I want a pet skunk so I can play tricks on my brother. ;_;

  • Is it true though that there nails are sharper then cats?

  • No, I wouldn't say that his nails are sharper than a cat's. Skunks use their nails for digging, not attacking. Now my squirrel is another story... his nails are terribly sharp!

  • I always wanted a pet skunk but they are illegal in Connecticut. I used to feed squirrels on my front porch. They would come and sit on your lap and yes there nails were very sharp.

  • I'm from CT too but it doesn't matter because alot of people have them illegally. I know of a gentleman who sells them and he told me the most important thing is to give them the rabies shot at 4 mths old and again every 2 years. Also they require a booster (which he supplies) the tricky part is finding a place that will sell you the rabies shot and every state is different. Other than the shots if you keep on the DL you have a great pet for life (8-10 years)

  • Hehe, he's really cute! He did seem a bit annoyed to me at first, but the second part where he's tugging at your sleeve was adorable. :)

  • sucks I always ran into wild skunks when i use to live in sacramento CA. now i want one for a pet. are they agressive? nicer then a dog? a cat? hmm lol

  • Buster has been "fixed" so he is not aggressive at all. He is more like a cat than a dog in that he naps a LOT. Very cuddly, too.
