  • Comment removed

  • The second link is broken, how can i download the .command?

  • i receive an error when i want to run the script on my desktop :-/

  • what about if you have lion? there's no option for expose and spaces in system preferences? :S

  • thanks, works perfectly!

  • Can this somehow be used to change between tab on Safari instead of Spaces?

  • I learned Quick tip to get this to work for you guys. Instead of "cd /Users/michaelbreiner/Desktop/smackbook" from the copied text, change it to "cd ~/Desktop/smackbook" That is the problem, when you change it to this, it should now work. i also had the same problem as the people with the no such file or directory part. By typinig the one i did, it locates it in finder, then skips to that desktop sidebar one. It is a little complicated but works for me. and i have lion. Also Beast vid! Thanks!!

  • @DaAwesomePwner Thank you for your simplification. The video has been updated to incorporate your suggestion.

  • Hey Man, I did absolutely everything you did and I enabled acess for assistive devices and in terminal I get, {No such file or directory}.

Help? Copied The Text. Did Everything.

  • when i open the application smackbook.app it opens terminal but no window opens up

  • works perfectly! many thanks!

  • i have done till 3.00 ( i hv not understood "from where to copy and pase description" please help

  • i have done till 3.00 ( i hv not understood "from where to copy and pase description" please help

  • Thank you so much! :D

  • I'm giving this a thumbs up purely for Blink-182 being used and not some awful death metal that seems to always be edited into these videos :)

  • nvm i fixed it thx for the tut works perfectly!

  • when i open smackbook no writing appers! do u have any idea what happend?

  • the second link doesn't work.. is there an other link where i can download it?

  • @LuczBeauty Try the new second link and tell me if it works.

  • holy shit is actually worked

  • It's weird, when I play this video, I hear this crappy music. My smackbook starts changing all sorts of shite.

  • hey ...my mac doesn't change when i smack it....i've done everything just the way it should be done.....any idea?the writing appeared and everything but it just doesnt work :(

  • @ppjjlop Two things: 1. Did you enable access for assitive devices? 2. Open up terminal, (the one that minimizes) and see if it says ams tracker present and instilized somewhere. If it says no such file or folder found, then there is something that you have done wrong.

  • @bobretsmith well....everything was ok...it actually worked...sort of....it started changing every sec....without smacking it, so i had to close the smackbook.app...and i havent tried again.( sorry4 my english)

  • @BlueShirt7 Also what isnt working? You need to be more specific for me to help you.

  • @BlueShirt7 the text is a little different because i updated it after i made the video, and didnt feel the need to remake the video.

  • why is the text in the information box different from what you copy in your video?!

it doesn't work. help me please!

  • worked perfectly thanks dude 

  • The second link isn't working

  • @TheGeekInBlack it doesn't take you to a website. it opens a download. is it doing that?

  • @TheGeekInBlack same here

  • Okay. My real problem with this is that it only correctly interprets my smacks as left or right about 75% of the time. I opened Seis Mac and looked at it. Smacking your mac to the left or right doesn't give very much of a definite direction towards left or right, this would be fine if I were only using two separate screens, but I like to keep my screens 4 in a square. In spaces if you go left or right too far it goes to the next line, if it didn't do that I could perhaps mod this 4 up and down.

  • @PYates77 Open smackleopard.command in text edit and scroll down to "ASCII character 28" and "ASCII character 29" Swap the 28 and the 29. That should fix your problem

  • Hi. To change spaces, I set my mac to use command and arrow keys, instead of controll... how can I change the source to do that?

  • I love this but I just hate hitting my macbook :( lol

  • Thanks it works with me

  • thx dude :) works like a charm :) but can i change the sensitivity?

  • i did it, the writing appeared and everything, but, when i smack it nothing happens? HELP!

  • it's not working for me..! Help!

  • This works for me thanks. Though every time I smack it does something different. Oh well atleast I can impress my friends. Nice work.

  • thanks....

  • I changed it to 40 ,because everytime I would move on my bed ,

    it would change spaces.

  • a good idea is to change the location of the smackbook folder when making the applescript app to /smackbook.app/Contents/Resourses/smackbook/ that way it is all in one app and there is no extra folder.

  • Actually, the lower the number the more sensitive. You can play around with it. 25 was just a good average sensitivity.

  • Your really kind for showing us this, I got it up and running. does the 25's stand for sensitivity? Higher the number the more sensitive?

  • Hey dude you fail this does NOT work.. -.-

  • @AppleUploader I just did it, worked fine. So, you fail.

  • dude this is efing awesome!!! thanks to you and michaelbreiner i have a good reason to beat my mac xD!!!

  • Are you sure you typed your user name correctly including all capital letters a spaces?

    Richard-********-MacBook-Pro:Richard richard$ ./smackleopard.command

-bash: ./smackleopard.command: No such file or directory

    Richard-********-MacBook-Pro:Richard richard$

that happens when ever i do it with out the stars of couse

  • Hi, I've did according to your instructions. And I have a problem. Instead of me smacking my macbook, it switches the spaces on its own. And I have to force quit terminal. Any solutions for that? Thanks.

  • @JustinMac92 Did you change the 30's to 25's? Or something lower, because if you change the number to something too low, then the fan will make the computer change spaces.

  • @bobretsmith But I'd changed it to 25 for both.

  • @bobretsmith I managed to find the solution. I had to change to 40s instead of 25.. But anyway, really appreciate ur help. Thanks. Subscribed. :)

  • @bobretsmith LOL, i set mine all tht way to 4o before it got to a desirable pace.

  • @bobretsmith I have one of the new i7's and I got it working, but I think they must have changed either the location or maybe just dropped down to a single sensor because it doesn't behave quite as it should right taps are left taps sometimes... eh

  • @PIXELjunke try changing those 30's to 20's or 15's instead of 25's. That should increase the sensitivity. you'll have to do everything over again.

  • thanks alot man great job

  • where did you get the applescript code from? @3:03.. you just pasted something in there that you didn't show what you copied..

    Thanks

  • @simonhead666 it's in the video description. you have to click the double down arrow to see it.

  • @bobretsmith super kool!! thanks

  • when i save the the thing i haft to copy and past to my desck top, i dubble click it and it doesent open in terminal :S what am i doing wrong?

  • is there some way to minimize the terminal from the scrip editor?

is there some code to tell terminal to minimize automatically?

  • @pytoche you just click the yellow bubble in the upper left hand corner of the Terminal Window. I will look in to an automatic terminal minimization.

  • @bobretsmith Hehe thank you for your very fast answer! but i was searching something like this:

tell application "System Events" to keystroke command + M

To minimize automatically.. then your script would be better, didn´t you think?

  • @pytoche I sent my guy a message, so he's going to look in to it. He was the one who wrote the original AppleScript. I'll be sure to tell you immediately when the new version is available. Thanks for Watching. Please check out my other videos, and Subscribe.

  • @bobretsmith Thank you.

  • @pytoche I figured it out. The AppleScript text to coppy in the description has been updated. Thanks for your suggestion, and thanks for Subscribing.

  • @bobretsmith Just one thing!

I got an error when i try to run the text to copy-

AppleScript Error, System Events got an error: Acces for assistive devices is disabled.

To fix that just go to System Preferences > Universal Access > check Enable access for assistive devices. once you have enabled that, when you touch your mac the windows will minimize without errors :)

    Thanks bob!

  • @pytoche oh ya! I had to do that. Totally forgot. Thanks again!

  • i works like a charmmm :)

    i got this error

    2010-02-14 12:41:56.681 osascript[582:60f] Error loading /Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Unit Types: dlopen(/Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit

  • idk why your geting it. it looks like your computer is trying to use adobe for something and it shouldn't be. try adding an account and doing it in that account. if it works, is a setting in your account, if not it your computer.

  • amazing! it works. it doesn't seem to always get it right when i smack the book but thats ok. thanks alot though!!

  • redo it and instead of changing the 30s to 25s, chage them to 20s or 15s

  • my terminal doesn't open

  • @gammaray850 maybe you already had it open..

  • no it says "you are not authorized to use this application. the administrator has set your shell to an illegal value." so now i have to use x11.

  • um...this didn't work for me :/

  • check that you typed the user name right. In finder, next to the little house under places is your user name. you need to type it exactly as it is there. All capital letters need to be capital.

  • Uh yeah, I'm not a total noob, of course I did that right. I double checked everything. It still didn't work

  • Are you sure you saved the apple script thing as an application? is the smackbook folder on the desktop? did you delete it?

  • check that your sudden motion sensor is enabled under hardware in system profiler.

  • Yes, I told you I double checked everything, I did everything in the video correctly and of course my sensor is enabled.

  • what kind of mac do you have?

  • Late 2008 MacBook 5,1 with Alu Unibody & OS X 10.6.2
