I watched the movie. It was an awesome movie, it tells how the Algerians fought the Frecnch to gain their freedom. French were facists, they were bunch of scums. The murdered more than one million Algrians. They say French fight for freedom and liberty, thats bullshit. Anyways, that movie was a great movie, and I loved it.

Is it wrong to think that a movie about Fighting for freedom and exposing the ugly face of western occupation cant' win an Oscar ? i mean the day the whole world was celebrating the end of WW2 ,Algerians were brutally massacred (45000) and hundreds of thousands of arrested and lost people, all hat because Algerians were celebrating their promised freedom after fighting with France against the Nazis !!

This looks like pseudo-Hollywood crap. If you are at all interested in the Algerian revolution, see Battle of Algiers. It was actually made shortly after the actual revolution with an awesome score by Ennio Morricone. A very moving picture.
