Who is Better: Jushiro Ukitake or Shunsui Kyoraku

In terms of power Shunsui is stronger due to Ukitake's illness. However, I like Ukitake more.

As much as I like both of them, I'm going to have to give this one to Shunsui. His Zanpakutou has something with the colors that deals more damage or something that I don't know much about and he can come out of shadows! Also, I think his Zanpakutou looks slightly cooler than Ukitake's

they should be relatively close in strength. they're both far stronger than all other captains, except for aizen and yamamoto (both way stronger), and unohana who's on about the same level. in a drawn out fight i would give it to kyoraku only because of ukitake's health problem. looking at their stats page as well, kyoraku is slightly higher because of ukitake's health problem.

@SkyKnight26 true true. pretty much everyone, including those 2, have shown to be afraid of her. as far as ukitake vs shunsui, from their known abilities it seems shunsui has the advantage again. ukitake's ability is useful, but he's shown no unique offensive moves. and shunsui could stick to takaoni, kageoni, and irooni. doubt ukitake could absorb physical attacks.

@kondensor This might actually be an interesting fight. Kyoraku is far superior to Byakuya or Kenpachi, you can see how he was able to defeat Starrk with just a shikai. Ukitake's handicap makes this a closer fight. However, U+K are much older and work well with each other...rather than fighting amongst themselves as we saw B+K do during their fight with Yammy. Also, don't forget Kenpachi is a brute force type of fighter and those attacks don't work on KK's games. I saw we don't have enough info

1st: Ukitake is ill, In that case, he'd lose. But if he weren't , it'd be a tough fight, since ukitake already knows Katen Kyokotsu's games and the rules, so that'd be hard.

2nd: They have yet to reveal their bankais, but Kyoraku's bankai is probably something that either affects all who see it, or something not meant for others to see, something associated with sight, since Ukitake told him: Not here, where everyone can see it.

They are like a Coin one on one side and the other on the other side they are as simple as the words brothers for all ententes and purpose of the word (I don't mean actual brothers) They choose not to use their Bankai's because they use each others power, If they are forced to use their Bankai's then the same would have to go for the Captain Commander because they fought on equal grounds back during "Operation Rescue Rukia". They are of equal strength because they choose to help each other.

But then again the attack power of Kyoraku rivals the defensive power of Ukitake. I think they are the perfect couple in attack and defense when fighting together. Right now it's equal. But i think that there's more to ukitake's shikai ability. Based on what i seen in the zanpaktou rebellion arc when ukitake "fought" his zanpaktou.

I think ukitake can fire lightning bolts in addition with the absorption ability.

The two always have each others' back so it's irrelevant. If Kyoraku gets over his head (see fight with Starrk) Ukitake is there to step in and vice versa.

Kyoraku has fantastic offensive powers, but lack defense and even risks injury using his Shikai on his opponents. Meanwhile Ukitake can absorb and redirect even the most powerful Cero, but is only situationally able to attack.

Battle Data doesn't prove a damn. Each battle is different. it all depends on luck, skill, timing, And yours contra's opponents abilities. For example, Soifon would have little problem as an assassin against Nnoitra, two stings and bam.., Nnoitra aint as atrobatic as her, she would dodge his big weapon no doubt, kenpachi however would win of soifon with his raw strength but would have some trouble againt Nnoite

I'd say their power is equal. Yeah, Shunsui can use darkness and wind and all that bs. But Jushiro has more of a proficient way to use his ability. Games always protray the fact that Jushiro uses his shikai by using water,and lightning. True, but not so much. His shikai is actually used to channel his opponent's reiatsu from one end of his zanpakuto, to the other, allowing for him to use it more stronger.
