This video made me cry a lot more than I already was, I've been bullied ever since I was little in primary school until in college I'm five months away from being 18 and I wonder how long this hurt will go on for. I want to say that bullies can be nice people sometimes when they are not feeling so bad. They just bully to make themselves feel better. They can be nice sometimes
if someone makes fun of you, or if 50 people make fun of you, you have to remember that you are on a much higher level than them. They have more problems than you think. Bullies are not people to believe, especially when it comes to stuff about you.

Physical abuse is mental abuse. If someone beats you up then you're going to wonder why and you're going to start thinking you aren't good enough. Rape is physical abuse and that messes with peoples minds. Pyhsical is just as bad if not even worse because its messing with your body AND your mind. I like what you're saying, but physical abuse can hurt you just as much as verbal or even worse. At least if you're being mentally abused there is some way out if you don't let it affect you.
@kellen378 If you have at least one family member or friend then you are here for a reason and you are worth something. No one is worth anything more than what the people around them think they're worth, because ultimately worth is a concept people think of, and I'm sure that that friend or family member thinks you're worth so much.
Hey, Tyler. Here's what I don't get. Whenever you post a vlog like this, people comment on it, and most of them are positive comments. But whenever I post a vlog of my own, people barely comment on it, and when they do, they're not really positive comments. Does that mean I suck at vlogging?

Its not necessarily who we surround ourselves with, but who we come across in our lives. People who just show up. A LOT of people tell me I'm ugly. A lot of guys mostly. People I don't even know have called me ugly. I've started to believe it. I don't know if I will ever get over thinking that, but thank you Tyler.

Tyler, good words. Another perspective is that you are in control of your life and only can be hurt by another's word if you choose to be. You are in control by choosing to walk away from the abuser and not listen to their vile words...
I can think of one such person who messed with my mind. He accused me of cheating at games. Now this person does not even know me and "refused to acknowledge my existence". Then he game on to a website blog, and was absolutely gay. He said that I told him that I cheated, which I didn't. He want on to say that it was my word against him, blah blah blah. Is he an idiot or am I an idiot?
Wow, this worked so well for me when I was bullied some years back.
As soon as I realized I was being bullied (I actually didn't find anything out of the ordinary, it had been going on for so long) I just stood up and left. I just found the courage to say "No, I don't want to be around you" my world turned around. And even if it is a family member you should definitely try to distance yourself. Go to a boarding school or move out if it is that bad or you could just try to work late :/
Why give credence to someone who may not know you, not have your interest in mind, doesn’t have a stake in who you are, or not care about you? It should be appropriately discounted.
I do agree with being selective of who we have around us. It’s ironic that one of the choices we have as free people gets squandered for the sake of not wanting to be alone or psychological comfort. Make judicious, deliberate, and meaningful choices of friends, lovers, and others and this will be less of a problem.

This one girl she always made me feel that I was never good enough and that there was something wrong with me. I have ADD so I've always struggled with being different from my disorder. She put me down and made me not want to go to practice (this was at a synchro team). Then one day I realized I'm better than her, I'm smarter, nicer, prettier, and don't have to put others down. You know what Tyler you are so right! The other day I wore this new shirt that I had just got to school. I was really nervous about it because I normally dont dress too well so it was something new for me. The first person I saw was my best friend who told me I looked great and made me feel tons better. Words hurt only if you let them get to you. The cyberbullying is a double edged sword. Cyberbullying has become an excuse to censor the internet and keep people from voicing their thoughts and opinions. While we must combat bullying and harassment it must not be at the expense of freedom of speech.
I have experienced a lot of abuse in my life but the mental abuse was always the worst. It wasn't just the way it killed my self esteem. It was the way it warped my view of the world. I had a family member who told me countless times a day that I need to love and be loved by men to be complete. The same person would tell me that every guy friend I had loved me and should be dating me. It made me obsessive and warped my view of reality. Took a long time to undo the brainwashing
For all that struggle with bullying, realize that the person who is bullying only have one problem he/she feels less worth than you. And through putting you down he/she thinks that he goes up the leather. But the opposite is the case, because what you send out is coming back to you.

I just wanted to say thank you for making this video, I've been a singer since I was about 13/14 and the thing is, I've been mercilessly bullied in high school, some of the most traumatic things happened to me in high school and music and singing has always been my way of getting out of it and ppl at the school said i wasnt good enough and . . . *continued on next comment*
I um, I have a problem in my life right now. My closest friend hasn't spoken to me in a while. In a couple of weeks. I have no idea why he won't and the most reasonable explaination is probably the kinda thing where something makes you happy, but ends up destryoing everything (we had a dateish-y thing and since then, things have been VERY awkward. I try to talk to him though)
I feel lonely and without a proper explaination, my head is a mess. I feel he doesn't want to be my friend anymore.
Let me just give you a very significant example. There is a period of my life --about 2 years-- of which there is NOT a single photograph in which I agreed to appear. In a way, it looks as though I had been dead for two years. This can be seen as a consequence of that mental abuse you're talking about :)
Besides, in January, I smiled in a photo for the first time in 12 years.
if an individual can't figure out all the points you've brought up on their own, then honestly, i'm just apathetic towards their plight. call it narcissistic, in a social manner, but you have a brain, don't be stupid [+1 mental abuse]. admittedly, if in a situation where an individual asked me for help regarding their mental abuse/abuser, i'd have no issue with it.
p.s. i can feel it, "you've never been mentally abused" comments are coming my way.
i had a friend who is no longer with us because or bulling i was also severely bullied I used to go home crying everyday and one day i just had enough i lifted my head and i confronted this girl i remember her calling over all her friends to defend her and i told her she was a coward picking on the short small girl . Another time the bulling went to far was on a choir trip this girl told everyone I wasn't easing and that I had a eating disorder .Im Healthy and the haters can suck a egg.
Girls and boys in my class have been bullying me for about 8 years. They tell me that im ugly, gross, sometimes they hit or push me. Ive visited at therapist when i was in 3th or 4th grade it helped a little bit. My mom died when i was five years old to cancer and those people in the class always talks about their mom to me.
Im usually so shy that i cant even answer those things. But im so happy that i have my dad.

This is actually the year I completely healed from my mental abuse from the cruel comments from girls in my classes to insults from my ex boyfriend to my and my mom that blames me for her issues. I've always been bullied, but it stopped during 7th grade. My confidence took time to regain. I'm a Sophomore in high school now and have loving friends and a caring and protective boyfriend. My life turned around drastically this past year. I hope others can find healing and shelter from abuse.

Tyler, I'm being abused for being asian and I could barely speak english. How do I communicate with people if I can't even communicate well with them? I try and tell them a story and they don't understand, sometimes I feel like making friends with asians that speak my language, but I can't cause they all speak english :(
@Marie15017 Hey I'm sure no one really means to hurt your feelings, they simply can't understand you. And learning another language is hard, but I'm sure you'll get there. You seem to be adequate at writing in english, so, perhaps when things are too difficult for you to say, you can write them. :)
The stigma around getting help for mental abuse is so dated- It's better to get help and not have your whole outlook impacted by your abuser than to pretend it didn't happen or that it didn't affect you- the effects can be subtle or blindside you years later. If you don't do something about it, the abuser WINS. No one wants that.
i really agree with you tyler! thank you so much for a new video! i used to get bullied also, not really with people hurting me, they would just verbally bullying me because of my last name. my last name is Labudda, and people would always call me Labuddy, or Labuttcheeck. it really bothered me as a child growing up, and i always feared going to school because of this. But, as i had gotten older, i just let it roll off of my shoulder, because in reality, i'm a better and much stronger person.
My parents always said think before you speak. How will your information help the situation? Is the person talking willing to listen or do they want to talk at you instead of with you? If they do not want to listen to you it is best to just let it go. No one has to get the last word in. My mom also said treat people like you want to be treated and if you cannot say anything nice don't say anything at all.
I was bullied from grades 1-5 for being overweight and I think that is what caused my deeply set body image issues and me feeling like I'm not good enough which led me down the path of self harm and eating disorders

All my friends told me he was fine and I should stop holding a grudge against him, but I could never forget the things he said to me.

This one girl she always made me feel that I was never good enough and that there was something wrong with me. I have ADD so I've always struggled with being different from my disorder. She put me down and made me not want to go to practice (this was at a synchro team). Then one day I realized I'm better than her, I'm smarter, nicer, prettier, and don't have to put others down. So today, I pity her, I really do she missed out on being my best friend for longer than a year. Thanks for this video

You know what Tyler you are so right! The other day I wore this new shirt that I had just got to school. I was really nervous about it because I normally dont dress too well so it was something new for me. The first person I saw was my best friend who told me I looked great and made me feel tons better. Almost immediately after, another girl came up and said "Amanda looks like a whore!". It made me feel sick and I havent worn that shirt since. I hate that I let it get to me.

I have experienced a lot of abuse in my life but the mental abuse was always the worst. It wasn't just the way it killed my self esteem. It was the way it warped my view of the world. I had a family member who told me countless times a day that I need to love and be loved by men to be complete. The same person would tell me that every guy friend I had loved me and should be dating me. It made me obsessive and warped my view of reality. Took a long time to undo the brainwashing

For all that struggle with bullying, realize that the person who is bullying only have one problem he/she feels less worth than you. And through putting you down he/she thinks that he goes up the leather. But the opposite is the case, because what you send out is coming back to you.

I um, I have a problem in my life right now. My closest friend hasn't spoken to me in a while. In a couple of weeks. I have no idea why he won't and the most reasonable explaination is probably the kinda thing where something makes you happy, but ends up destryoing everything (we had a dateish-y thing and since then, things have been VERY awkward. I try to talk to him though)
I feel lonely and without a proper explaination, my head is a mess. I feel he doesn't want to be my friend anymore.

Let me just give you a very significant example. There is a period of my life --about 2 years-- of which there is NOT a single photograph in which I agreed to appear. In a way, it looks as though I had been dead for two years. This can be seen as a consequence of that mental abuse you're talking about :)
Besides, in January, I smiled in a photo for the first time in 12 years.

if an individual can't figure out all the points you've brought up on their own, then honestly, i'm just apathetic towards their plight. call it narcissistic, in a social manner, but you have a brain, don't be stupid [+1 mental abuse]. admittedly, if in a situation where an individual asked me for help regarding their mental abuse/abuser, i'd have no issue with it.

i had a friend who is no longer with us because or bulling i was also severely bullied I used to go home crying everyday and one day i just had enough i lifted my head and i confronted this girl i remember her calling over all her friends to defend her and i told her she was a coward picking on the short small girl . Another time the bulling went to far was on a choir trip this girl told everyone I wasn't easing and that I had a eating disorder .Im Healthy and the haters can suck a egg.

Girls and boys in my class have been bullying me for about 8 years. They tell me that im ugly, gross, sometimes they hit or push me. Ive visited at therapist when i was in 3th or 4th grade it helped a little bit. My mom died when i was five years old to cancer and those people in the class always talks about their mom to me.
Im usually so shy that i cant even answer those things. But im so happy that i have my dad.

This is actually the year I completely healed from my mental abuse from the cruel comments from girls in my classes to insults from my ex boyfriend to my and my mom that blames me for her issues. I've always been bullied, but it stopped during 7th grade. My confidence took time to regain. I'm a Sophomore in high school now and have loving friends and a caring and protective boyfriend. My life turned around drastically this past year. I hope others can find healing and shelter from abuse.

Tyler, I'm being abused for being asian and I could barely speak english. How do I communicate with people if I can't even communicate well with them? I try and tell them a story and they don't understand, sometimes I feel like making friends with asians that speak my language, but I can't cause they all speak english :(

The stigma around getting help for mental abuse is so dated- It's better to get help and not have your whole outlook impacted by your abuser than to pretend it didn't happen or that it didn't affect you- the effects can be subtle or blindside you years later. If you don't do something about it, the abuser WINS. No one wants that.

i really agree with you tyler! thank you so much for a new video! i used to get bullied also, not really with people hurting me, they would just verbally bullying me because of my last name. my last name is Labudda, and people would always call me Labuddy, or Labuttcheeck. it really bothered me as a child growing up, and i always feared going to school because of this. But, as i had gotten older, i just let it roll off of my shoulder, because in reality, i'm a better and much stronger person.

My parents always said think before you speak. How will your information help the situation? Is the person talking willing to listen or do they want to talk at you instead of with you? If they do not want to listen to you it is best to just let it go. No one has to get the last word in. My mom also said treat people like you want to be treated and if you cannot say anything nice don't say anything at all.

I was bullied from grades 1-5 for being overweight and I think that is what caused my deeply set body image issues and me feeling like I'm not good enough which led me down the path of self harm and eating disorders

All my friends told me he was fine and I should stop holding a grudge against him, but I could never forget the things he said to me.
