It isn't sharp in the corners as it is a issue with the lense. Fix it up in the Nikon software you got with your camera and it will fix it up. Play around with stills with straight edges and you will see what I'm talking about. Just abou the only negative thing I can say about the lense, but is fixable.
The blur is because of depth of field,using a wider angle lens and being very close to the subject, focus on the subject and you get a shallow dof

i hate bees . stepped on one in cancun . but wow the close up lens on top of the kit lens look actually pretty cool

I used close up lenses on top of 18-105mm vr. This is a reason probably why is not sharp at the corners. Thanks
