741 Op-Amp

10k Ohm potentiometer

2 decoupling capacitors

1 MOSFET transistor

1 relay

Wire it into the X-port output driven by the transmitter push button. Connect a rocket igniter to the relay, powered by the plane's battery.

How did you get the Xport to act on the button push, whenever i test it out it is just a constant current through the wires regardless of if i push the button on the controller or not

It would be really simple, just attatch a relay to the drop motor power supply and that to the battery and a model rocket ignitor.

Magnesium has to get pretty hot to ignite, I'm not sure how much current it would take for what gauge wire etc.

I think hobby igniters use nichrome wire with some other combustible material surrounding it. Magnesium might be part of that mix.

Steel wool works great too.

as far as I know yes, all of the Xport equiped aircraft use the same waveform.

What lit the fuse?

The relays connect the 'fuse' to the main battery. The 'fuse' was just some steel wool, too much current going through it causes it to burn/melt and that lit the fuse of the fire cracker.

Hobby rocket igniters use the same thing, a thin piece of wire covered with some type of flammable material.
