i remember going to woolies for my pick n mix, dvds, cds and anything cheap that i can get my hands on and i will miss woolies a lot the other shops ain't got nothin on woolies Lol, but still i want woolies to be back! :'(
Another year still miss Woolies, specially at this time of year, still brings a tear to my eye, sad or what, grew up with Woolies never be anything like it, tho Wilkinsons is trying to copy format, not quite the same however
@TheKerryzzz Woolworth's WAS an American icon! The last American Woolworth's closed in 1997. What remains of the company runs Foot Locker shoe stores.
what a joke! It's these major corporations that are sending our farmers broke. They pay pittance for produce yet sting the consumer and send families broke. Yeah, I'll miss them alright. pity it wasn't a global closure . Bring back the family owned businesses. And to all the ignorant that rate my comment and or respond. A clear FUCK YOU in advance :)
I'll miss woolworths, and being able to ocationally walk past and call it something slightly different when a light went out on one of the letters from time to time. Quite oftern it was funny, and it was fun to do. Now it's going to be Iceland. I'm not too miffed by that, cause i like iceland.
I fucking loved woolworths, it fucking sucks that they're gone. I bought my first VHS, cassette, CD and DVD from them, it was a huge part of my life and now they're gone. FUCK YOU ECONOMIC DOWNTURN I HOPE YOU GET GANGBANGED TO DEATH!!!!
What a shame theyve gone. Just packing away the Christmas decorations-some of which my mum bought from Woolies nearly 40 years ago! Good luck to all the staff and hope they find work soon.
Its amazing that as a country we have without a second thought, ruined our British culture just to save a few pence - just shows what a shameful shallow greedy grabbing nation we have turned into - money is all and we would all sell our grandparents to make a quick buck. If I had a time machine, I would travel back to all the wars we have been involved in and let everyone know it just isn't worth defending the future. The country is slowly turning into a cesspit.
We lost our woolies today here in Newtownards, Norhtern Ireland. People can praise Tesco and Asda all they like, but in our darkest day of the troubles, tesco and Asda dint not want to know that Northern Ireland exsited. Woolies and Woolco however were always here, serving us well through our darkest days, I for one and I am not alone will miss this great store and all the fond memories it brings back, Thanks Woolies for over 50 Years in Newtownards.
i loved woolies because when i went down the high street with my mum. we used to always go in there. plus i was going to get my nintendo ds lite there, but now i can. i wish someone had the money, so they could buy it and it would still be here.
My great-grand mother worked at a Woolworths for 20 years. She will be very upset if she is alive today, seeing this happen, the death of Woolworths :'(
in ten years time the high street will pale into what it was when woolworths, our price, courts, and all the others (that will probably also fail in time) were ruling the roost. the demise of woolworths is the nail in the coffin. we'll have 2 shopping options : 1. supermarket chains or 2: the net.
It's no better here in the US... our Woolworths all shut down in 1997 and Wal-Mart has taken over: Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, Sam's Club (a Wal-Mart owned business). The closest we have to Woolies is Target, and that is a stretch at best. Instead of Wooly and Worth, we have Bullseye the Target Dog.
Two Woolworths in Milton Keynes... city centre one closes January 2nd, Newport Pagnell on January 5th. I'm gonna try and be at both on those days. It's very saddening. I hope Zavvi doesn't go the same way.
good choice of song and nice video! even though wooly and worth only came in at the end (woolies last few years) they will be rememberd forever as well:)
i wasnt just talking about woolthorths and supermakerts uk is shit fuck the govement

Privately owned businesses would be great. But Tesco was once privately owned, who's to say how big your privately owned business can become?
