At the beginning of these videos, 'Ni Rei' i.e. kneeling bow is performed, as seen in Judo. Is this usual in BJJ too? I have been to a number of BJJ clubs and never seen any sort of bowing.
@nelsonwwefan10194 there is no time limit. if they feel you are ready they will give it to you :) but don't expect to get it in a few weeks or months unless your amazing
I have almost ALL of roy deans DVDs, Im a 10th planet practitioner and originally a gracie baja and tiningua spider guard student. These dvds that roy dean has published are better than any training that you can pay for. He covers the basics with an incredible teaching direction and helps you develop understanding of the jiu jitsu world. You can buy the dvds online and they are WORTH the money
@genjibob Only issue with buying DVDs are you dont actually have someone physically teaching you, they would be a good asset to have at home, but i'd say join a Gym for training AT LEAST once a week. Twice if you're hoping to get stripes/belts soon
grate work i recently archived the honor of blue belt the other day i know how much hard work and dedication it takes so bravo much success to getting your dans and purple belt
This is totally brilliant - great to see bjj being taught with the kind of spirit that's missing in so many clubs. And this guy totally deserves his blue belt! I practice judo,in Tokyo, at the Kodokan. After seeing this, I'm going to start doing a bit of bjj too.
Just watching gives me deeper understanding of Jui jitsu's spirit, and ground game supremacy!!! Bamm!! Booyah!! Awesome!! Nice vid, wish you had video testing, we have no BJJ schools at all!!
I would like to say that I really appreciate the way you teach and test your students. There is a mutual respect between teacher and student that I believe a lot of schools lack. I wish I could train with you. Keep up the good work.
its nice to see people who actually do this stuff training. I've been trying to learn for about 3 years with friends, but all they ever want to do is the actual wrestling rather than the training and then they get upset because I dominate them, so they won't wrestle me anymore. It'd be really nice if i had a place to practice around here.
If anyone can find one for me by chance, I live in Rapid River Michigan (49878). I've been looking for a dojo/gym for a couple years though.
I just tool my blue belt exam and it sucked it was so disorganized. I thought it was going to be like the above test, it wasnt even close. And to top it all off we had to pay $100 and at the end the instructor didnt tell anyone if they passed or failed. No belts were handed out. Wish I went to this academy.

This video is an inspiration to me. I am going to work as hard as physically possible to get this honor. It must have felt good to tap a black belt!

Nice as always Master Dean.
I'm still enjoying your music CD thoroughly. Great way to work out/train and roll.
