  • If you don't watch old movies, (and I mean the black and whites AND the silents), you are missing some of the most talented and beautiful women ever committed to film.

Those who don't seek the past are doomed to forget it.

  • I think most of these gals are pretty well known to fans of classic movies. The people who don't like old movies, who cares about them.

Glad you had my favorite obscure actress, Sally EIlers (at 1:35). Now she really IS obscure, but anyone who knows who she is is automatically cool.

  • Are the clips in alphabetical order? (You're right, I don't know most of these actresses.)

  • wonderful video, whats the movie at 0:55 and at 1:17 and 1:21 and the one at 2:17

  • @MlleDeFontanges

    0:55-'Hideout' (1934)

    1:17- 'Unconquered' (1947)

1:21-'The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg'(1927) (I believe...I may be wrong...it IS Norma Shearer, and it IS a silent film!)

    &

2:17-'Seven Sweethearts'(1942) (My all time favorite!!)

  • great vid,but cuh-razy ironic its about forgotten actresses, and most of their names arent given.not a critique, just an observation...

  • @lovelee182 Thanks for the observation...but I put all of their names in the description box. I don't find it necessary to put captions on the actual video. I have my own style of doing them and I like to put the names separate. If you would like to know who was at a certain spot, I can tell you.

  • A glorious tribute, especially to probably my three top all-time favorites: Jean Peters, Linda Darnell, and Eleanor Parker.I am crazy about each one. But more than anything else, I just fell in love with that some...

  • the good ole days. glad I lived it.

  • three of these were in 'the final four' screentests for scarlett o'hara: paulette goddard, joan bennett and jean arthur.

  • @BSTO88 that was perfect ! a great selection of stars who were well known and recognised during their career span but for some reason are not at the top echelon of those we think or speak about today as you said...they are slightly off the general public's radar ! I would added Irene Dunne, Elaine Stewart,Carol Landis, Ann Blyth....but I am quibbling...you did a great job and I 'got ' what you meant !

  • LOVE MIKA BTW... I really do want to marry him

I wish the producers put the titles of the films in the captions... that would have been a nice touch.

  • Quite on the contrary almost all of those actresses are recognizable. Maureen O'Sullivan, Joan Bennett, Paulette Goddard, etc. are quite well known. If anything if you go back to pre-1920s is when you'll start running into actor/actress names and faces that present day people won't recognize.

  • I don't consider these actresses forgotten! Millions still love and revere them and their many cinema accomplishments. These stars are spectacular and would give the so called actresses today a run for their money!

  • Gosh life is very fragile mysterious and time makes our looks and bodies creep down, I find that strange, but ahh that's life I spose, thanks for this. One actress that seems to have kept her body and looks in her 70s is Kim Novak, I think it's because she had a plum of a life and no heartbreak. I think all the wear and tear through one's life affects how you look and age. I saw a photo of gene tierney (sp) in her late years hard to believe same woman, but she had tons of heartbreak shock tmt

  • as they appear I NOTED --JANET GAYNOR PAT NEAL JEAN ARTHUR PAULETTE GODDARD KAT GRAYSON LINDA DARNELL PRISCILLA LANE JOAN BLONDELL

NORMA SHEARER TERESA WRIGHT IVE LOST TRACK NOW TIERNEY BROOKS AND TAYLOR NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. BUT THEN YOU CANT HAVE EVERYONE--- INCLUDING BETTY GRABLE'S LEGS.!!!

  • Patricia Neal, Kathryn Grayson, Eleanor Parker are also among my favourites. And don't forget Edwige Feuillere ! ;)

  • Lilli Palmer - ETERNAL

  • BYE THE WAY YOU MISSED OUT LOUISE BROOKS, SURELY THE TOPS

  • THESE GIRLS ARE NOT REALLY FORGOTTEN. i AM EIGHTYONE YEARS OLD AND COULD NOT RECOGNIZE ABOUT THREE OF THEM. I AGREE THAT NAMING THEM THROUGH THE VIDEO WOULD ONLY TAKE AWAY THE BEAUTY OF THEIR VISAGES . YES RENTATRIP (WHAT A SILLY CALL SIGN) HELL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THESE BEAUTIES. GROW UP!

  • @johnopone I am 21 years old and I recognise 95% of these actresses ! Lilli Palmer, I know her son ! Also a great dramatist he is. But also, Patricia Neal and Kathryn Grayson, Eleanor Parker are among some of the finest actresses and they have inspired my career as one as well. :) I will never forget their contributions to film and stage. Not as long as I have a voice of my own. :)

  • really beautiful! thank you

  • Great upload, thanks.

  • It would be my pleasure to help you out my friend! 0.5 Janet Gaynor, though I had no idea she had vbeen in silents! 0.15 Norma Sherer 0.18 Elenor Parker 0.24 Priscilla Lane 0.30 Susan Hayward I believe, though the old film stock nmakes it hard to tell! 0.35 Jean Arthur One of my faves! 0.40 Linda Darnell missed one 0.50 Teresa Wright 0.55 Maureen O'Sullivan Mia Farrows' Mum 1.01 Lili Palmer 1.04 Ann Baxter 1.16 Paulette Goddard Once married to Charlie Chaplin
  • 1.27 Margaret Sullivan

    1.50 Patricia Neal

    2.21 Miiko Taka

There are numerous repeats paace so I did not include them all.I've had a rather unfair advantage over most, my having amassed a film library of over 13k titles.

For the first 20yrs she collected only 1929-1949

    Enjoy!

  • Rest in Peace Beautiful Woman!

  • Would be nice to put names to the faces. I recognise quite a few but can't remember the names.

It could be done by saying at 2.20 is such an actress etc. Thanks for posting

  • @paace I'm terribly sorry, but if I did that with every tribute I'd never leave home! I can tell you who people are if you have any questions.

2:20 is Kathryn Grayson By the way:)

  • @paace It would be my pleasure to help you out my friend! 0.5 Janet Gaynor, though I had no idea she had vbeen in silents! 0.15 Norma Sherer 0.18 Elenor Parker 0.24 Priscilla Lane 0.30 Susan Hayward I believe, though the old film stock nmakes it hard to tell! 0.35 Jean Arthur One of my faves! 0.40 Linda Darnell missed one 0.50 Teresa Wright 0.55 Maureen O'Sullivan Mia Farrows' Mum 1.01 Lili Palmer 1.04 Ann Baxter 1.16 Paulette Goddard Once married to Charlie Chaplin
  • Film Lovers remember them. Lupe Velez will never be forgotten! Thanks for a great video.

  • Beautiful tribute! And not one of these lovely ladies is forgotten by me, but I'm an exception.

  • <3 Maureen O'sullivan in Hide-out <3 Great Video!

  • They're hardly forgotten. Every night they are appreciated and their films are shown worldwide on TCM.

  • paulette goddard...................gold medal

  • Great posting! If you don't mind my asking...what was the name of the song?

  • It's ANY OTHER WORLD by MIKA:)

  • Thanks!

  • This was excellent and a very good choice of actresses. You could also have added Jeanne Crain (who like Teresa Wright was underrated as an actress) and Rita Johnson. But still great to see.

  • This is quite beautiful, the music is powerful. There's only two or three things missing: Jean Parker, Vera Ralston, Judy Garland et al.

  • good job! there was Norma Shearer in 0:15, she's really lovely! but you didn't pit her on the list :) what about Irene Dunne and Anna May Wong?

  • This is a lovely video, and the music really suits it. There are so many actresses featured who I like and admire, and it's so sad that no-one under the age of 50 is likely to know who they are now. I hope you do another one - you could include Betty Field, Agnes Moorehead, Simone "Cat People" Simon, Olivia de Havilland, Dorothy "Carmen Jones" Dandridge ... there are loads still out there!

  • This was so good! It's a challange to try to name all of them as the vid plays. Who was the girl in the dutch hat? I know she was in "Stage Door". Thank you for posting this!

  • That's Kathryn Grayson..But I don't think she was in Stage Door...She was in "Showboat" and "Kiss Me Kate"

  • <3 Teresa Wright.

  • Thanks for the rembrance.

I will never forget the old classic ...

  • Beautiful video. Such a moving effect. ;) It's not that easy to get by Hollywood even if you have the talent.

  • AWESOME!! All these actresses deserve to be rememberd. You did a fantastic job!!

  • Thanks for sharing this wonderful video! A great selection of outstanding actresses! I'm delighted you also included Margaret Sullavan! She's my favourite actress of the Golden Era!

  • Amazing tribute!!

    I love Anne Baxter!

  • Beautiful tribute to some of my favorites actresses ! I guess its true that they are "forgotten" - for me they are current because I watch them so often. So sad that they aren't remembered .. thank you for such a lovely tribute !

  • This is wonderful! I am huge Lilli Palmer fan!

  • As usual, you've done a marvelous job! You put so much thought into your videos and your song choice was excellent...just lovely! It was somehow reassuring to see those beautiful familiar faces. Thanks so much!

  • I've been in love with Paulette Goddard for 60 of my 69 years

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Aw, this is beautiful!

It's such a shame that a lot of people have no idea who these wonderful actresses are anymore.

Thanks for making such a lovely tribute! ♥

  • Oh.. this is such a beautiful piece of work. evokes so much emotion ..so well put together .

These ladies memories are so deserving of your

care and talent in this wonderful tribute.

Thanks you so much for this.

    Hugs,

    Keren♥

  • What a beautiful tribute to all these extremely talented ladies :) they sooo deserve it!

  • Beautiful tribute to these actresses of the silver screen. It is so sad that a lot of these women are forgotten nowadays.

  • Really beautiful tribute!! Great music! I think some will always be remembered not necessary because of their fame but because of their talent and movies: for example Jean Arthur (so funny), Anne Baxter, Patricia Neal, Claire Bloom. Too many celebrities today are famous for being famous but sometimes there are scenes or movies that will be remembered forever.

  • Well made tribute to these actresses! Nice work!
