  • Just as charming now that I'm 50 as it was back in the 70's. What a terrific memory!! Thank you for capturing this :)

  • I had this on VHS when I was a kid! I didn't know it was a 70s thing 'cause I had it in about 1997

  • i agree amyjwatson.... the kids programming when I was a kid....is the best ever

Reading Rainbow, Great Space Coaster .this one...etc

  • Man these were the days!!! 80's BABY!!!!

  • this short little cartoon was one of my most looked forward to.

  • hey simon!!!!

they sometimes played it in the 90's funn times

  • am i the only guy who notices he leaves his door wide open?

  • Wonder who these morons are that thumb these things down?

  • Awwww ^____^ how cute

  • I don't know why I hated Simon when I was young !! maybe I wasn't able to understand his language or thoughts.

  • One of the bests... Even the theme song is catchy!

  • hippys

  • Childhood memories.

  • This video is absolutely incredible compared to the crap they call cartoons now!

  • Wow I love the story of this show :D We never had this in germany... :(

  • This could sometimes be seen on Captain Kangaroo back in the 70's.

  • I think Pinwheel showed this, too.

  • i so miss these cartoons.I am an artist today and i still remember those youthful days of wishing i was Simon

  • Ohhhhhh the days of my youth a simpler happier time too bad these brain dead kids will never know quaility programing

  • Wow. I remember this, kind of. Definitely remember the song.

And it's narrated by Bernard Cribbins, a.k.a. Donna Noble's grandfather Wilf on Doctor Who. Cool.

  • The song stuck with me all these years also

  • Thanx for posting. A favourite of mine from those days. Pro'lly the reason I do cartoons now.

  • our generation had the best kids programming, ever.

i LOVED this show...nostalgia rules! *sniff sniff*

  • Ah, TVOntario. Clearly we're still part of the Empire. :)

  • I remember one episode in which a rock singer visitedand he was so loud. I remember it well because i thought the singer sounded a bit like Robert Plant. ofcourse he kept singing the same thing over again "free the people" or something.

  • this is like the nickelodeon show chalk zone from a few years ago...

  • Except it came 1st, and wasn't as.... stupid Simon is so simple, but charming. Chalk Zone just made me want to change the channel. .

  • wow i used to watch this on PBS as a kid - Bay Area Vacation Video!!

  • My 5 yr old son loves it. He also loves Pokemon ... just like every 5-yr old. They should start to play these again on TV.

  • I agree @ 38 I now enjoy it just as much as my two boys (3 & 5 yrs) do. Brilliant!

  • ...didn't Mike Myers do a parady of this on SNL many many years ago?

  • Yes he did....but the SNL version was rather naughty, in the British phrase. It should be somewhere here on YT...

  • COOL

  • at 36 I can look back and this and still enjoy it is quite funny as you get older or i could be going nuts haha

  • No you are NOT going nuts. It's that TV today is soooo boring. Nothing to watch. The 70s and 80s were the golden age of television. Nuff said.

  • With a lot of today's "cartoons," the stories take a back seat to the animation and commercials for toys.

  • OMG I use to watch this shit on Black and White TV I love this show and the music to this i still sing to myself. This was what i waited to watch this on captain Kangaroo

  • yeah i sing this too

but my last verse was more like

    doopedoooodoooddopedodoodoooo

    lol

  • yeah me too the last verse was iffy too

  • I used to watch this on Captain Kangaroo.

  • The Military drill at 2.30 is funny!!

  • the copyright date at the end of this says 1974... you should fix your description text :)

  • Ahhh...childhood memories. Cartoons now a days just don't compare. I'm blessed to live my childhood in the 70's.

  • @mkufl2gd ..not so if you had a molesting child rapist for a father.

  • damn it's like I'm 4yearsold again.......I had to show this to my wife...she didn't believe Mike Meyers character was loosley based off an actual cartoon.

  • which character is that?

  • This is the episode that I remember :D

  • This was awesome! Find more. I subscribed to you.

  • Romper Room aired it as well

  • yes, it was on Captain Kangaroo....I can't remember if he actualy narrated it but, it

was on it. I was happy when Pinwheel brought it back in the 80s.

  • Yes it was Captian Kangaroo (Bob Keshan) who narrated the American English verison. But Romper Room aired the "Queen's English" version. I loved them both. BUT....Nickelodeon had a series called Chalk Zone Which was a RIPOFF of this classic series!

  • Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, I got to watch both the "Captain Kangaroo" version and the Canadian version (narrated by Ernie "Mr. Dressup" Coombs) on the Windsor CBC affiliate.

Wonderful, wonderful program. That theme song is unforgettable.

  • Ah yes. I remember this from my childhood. First from Captain Kangaroo & then early 80's w/Pinwheel.

  • I loved this cartoon as a child, thank you so much for posting it! seriously been looking for this forever!
