Well honestly I love the simplicity of the cover. I just think its nice, and it definately has that sort of timeless quality to it, and again as you say here, it is bold. if I didn't know what it was, and saw the cover in a shop. I would pick it up because its different, its unique. I have the current English edition of Looking for Alaska (the one with the heart under water), and everyone who I have shown it too, loves the cover, because it is different.

I read the blog posts for why they think I should like the cover but honestly you cant say something to make me suddenly like a cover I don't find visually appealling. It's not that its a simple, bold and graphic cover, I often quite like that. I think it has to do with the way the clouds are just blobbed in the middle. maybe if they were shifted a little; the black one a little more to one side than the white so that they touched the edge a bit I dont know, I dont hate it. I just dont like it

After reading both blogs about the TFIOS cover, my opinion hasn't changed, and I'm slightly disappointed.

The most important thing about a book cover is that it make a passerby want to read it, a fact that was glossed over and ignored so far. If I saw TFIOS looking like this, and didn't know it was John's book, I would ignore it. It's a boring cover, unpleasant colors, and something you'd see on a child's book. No thanks. It'll still be a prized part of my library, but only despite the cover.

Ok, the cover is definitely bold, but not in a profound or groundbreaking way, in an obnoxious, in your face way. To call it "iconic" and "timeless" is an exaggeration. It's two quirky looking cartoonish cloud thingies. Bold colors were Andy Warhol and Never Mind the Bollocks. I'm not saying this to be mean or hurt your feelings, I'm saying it because I honestly do care about what happens to you and the book and if there's a chance that I'll be heard then I think that it's worth trying.
