When I was little, I wanted a pet rat cause they arnt dirty and they are very loving. But my parents think they have diseases and like to bite your face off and rather have a hamster.

I want a rat cause they show more lovable and smart.

Not by their looks or history.

Very nice... My first rats were huskies, Womble and Whiskey remind me of them. I miss them greatly. Now, the next project is to train my current rats to enjoy water, the're gonna be so hot when the summer comes... And splashing around is fun!

I did this at home... I put my two rats in the bath with like 4 or 5 cm of water in it. they both love it, but i can't take my eyes off them cos they can jump up the sloped side really easily. they couldnt do it at first but then they got better at it. its great fun.

@superchase08 Exactly, it's because YOU bathe them. Just fill up your bath tub with about 1/2 of water (at first), but make sure you put towels down at the shallow end so they can get out if they want. And let THEM play at first. After they're comfortable with just doing that, try bathing them. :D

@Cattydufus Introduce them very slowly. Lots of treats. Very shallow water. Let them go at their comfortable pace. If not then it'll just go the other way and make them even more scared :(

Thank you so much for the training video. I put so many toys in my two girls' cage that they just ignored, climbing the sides and sleeping everyday. Within one week they are sticking their heads under the deep side of a tray of warm water, playing with anything in there. Even if they don't come up with food they still examine their catch and either throw it back or run off with it like a treasure. They simply love fishing. Thank you.

@korictixor Rats can't just be "put in" water, they're like dogs or cats about water. If they don't want in, they'll fight, do just about whatever they can, to stay away from it. It's also a good way to traumatize them toward water. You've got to introduce them slowly to it so they get used to it and grow to enjoy being in the water.

Beautiful ratties, and such water babies! I could only get mine to go pea fishing in a cat litter tray with a little water in it, and even then they would stand on the sides and reach for the peas if they could. Thanks for uploading this. :)

@sailingbug It's possible, they just have to get used to you. My rats get excited when I walk into the room and stick their little arms through the cage to get my attention, but will take it or leave it when my husband comes in. I'm guessing it's the amount of time spent with them and positive experiences

@1Aspin I think when they go under by themselfs there's a air bubble in their ears, preventing water to enter. If you wash m or so, water could drip inside.
