I have to say, I like Hoenn best since Hoenn is where it all started for me. I liked Kanto, but Johto was too short for me. Luckily, FRLG gave the Sevii Islands.

Sinnoh was good, but the music was less good. And almost all Pokémon were related to previous ones. Shame.

Unova blew my mind, but could not topple Hoenn. It did give us cool and original Pokémon.

Johto is my number one favorite region. Kanto is a close second. The Hoenn region is awesome. Sinnoh is my least favorite. Unova regained my interest in Pokemon again.

I have Blue, Silver, Sapphire, and Black. (I did not get the D&P series because I felt it was the weakest entry in the series. IMO at least).

Kanto: the place where everything began, and home of Red the most badass trainer IMO

Johto: Great new areas and cooler pokémon and new types, the return to kanto was awesome

Hoenn: Not as great as before IMO, however, the plot looks deeper, new pokémon and the battle frontier and diving =)

Sinnoh: Great region, however IMO, the one i least like, but the gym leaders rock and new abilities and techs

Isshu: IMHO the rebirth of Pokémon, the plot rules, the pokémon badass, cities are bigger...etc

Stop hatin and give Black and White a chance. The anime will be fast paced like the Kanto series, and there are 156 new pokemon and I'd bet that you'll love at least 60 of them. If our world was the Pokemon world, I would move to Ecruteak City or Violet City in Johto without a second thought, even if I grew up in a place, say, Sunyshore City in Sinnoh or Slateport City in Hoeen.

Red, Blue and Yellow: Pretty bomb, the mother of the Pokemon series.

Gold, Silver and Crystal: Kicked ass. Loved the intro to new Pokemon, original ideas.

Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald: Okay-ish. Not much to say. Battle Frontier was kinda fun.

Diamond, Pearl and Platinum: Okay-ish again. Wi-Fi makes everything a revolution.

Sure, if you want to succeed in competitive battling, setting your team up ala Final Fantasy is a must.

But it still retains its simple RPG stature: you could pretty much use any Pokemon you dang well feel like it and not really do much with them other than give them the most powerful moves you can give them and still win.

@LilackSuntra Um. Don't know where you got that idea. Everyone I see always talks about how much better Kanto is and that everything (with maybe the exception of Johto because their precious Kanto was in the games) needs to be trashed and forgotten about.

The new games are still easy to pick up and play and don't require that you learn anything but the basic concepts from day one. Complexity introduced in the newer games put some life into this game that people should appreciate.

Unova's alright. It uses the same complicated system from Sinnoh but it's a great pokemon game, with a good story, nice music, and pretty good pokemon selection, even if there is another Fire/Fighting starter. Also, the region had an interesting emphasis on cities but it didn't feel cluttered,
