  • I hear Toshie is retiring. never saw her wrestle before Joshimania this month. kudos to wcw for featuring these great talented women. both wwf and wcw featured some great japanese talent back in the day. what happened?

  • @XSC3 WCW always was great about introducing different styles of wrestling and the fans were usually pretty appreciative. WCW was always a more loose promotion in its roster, with all these international stars showing up just to have a few matches. WWE is like a more tightly scripted television show, where they stick with their 20 or 30 main guys with everyone slotted into a very specific role.

  • i soooooo miss the GAEA promotions. As well as AJW. Those women CAN wrestle. check out some of their videos. Only some american wrestlers can compete. Madusa, Luna Vachon was always a great wrestler before they turned her into a comic relief. Those were the good ole days

  • did wcw ever even finish this tournament,

heck I am a hardcore wrestling fan and I don't even remember this title.

ps: I don't know what it is about them but I love Asian women.

  • Yes, Toshie ended up winning and the title immediately went to their GAEA Japan promotion and switched hands two more times until GAEA's deal ended with WCW.

  • @dencar84 yea they finished the tournament Toshie Uematsu won it in a match with Malia Hosaka. Then Toshie lost it to Yoshiko Tamura then Sugar Sato held it then it was abandon in late 1997 along with the WCW Women's World Title....

  • Awesome. Classic match. Welcome to the US, Meiko Satomura and Toshie Uematsu. Much love for Japan.
