  • DirecTV! It's everything you've ever imagined! And more.

Did you ever imagine that those "channels" would actually become "channels"?

  • You're right, The Disney Channel Has come a long way.........A Long Way Completely Backwards!

  • 4:35 What show is that from? I never seen a puppetronic Goofy before.

  • Growing up in the early to mid 80s in Clarksville, TN, I can only guess Disney was one of those expensive add-on channels. My parents wouldn't buy it...but when they'd do a channel preview I would be rooted to the TV for hours. Maybe that's why they didn't spend the money!

  • daannnnggg!

  • DISNEY HAD A MOUSE??? I thought that was crop circles or a water (H2O...well, H2O1 specific to the H2O group) molecule!

  • I haven't seen these since they were looping on a channel at the Disney-owned lodgings back in late 1982! *heh* Makes me feel 10 again!

  • I MISS THE OLD DISNEY!! When it used to be about MICKY MOUSE and education. R.I.P Disney 1983-2004 -\3

  • Disney Channel in 2011 is better than 1983. They have a ANT Farm, Hannah Montana, Lemonade Mouth and more and more and more. The all new show Shake It Up is the hit of this year and Disney Channel reached highest rating in 2010.

  • Disney Channel in 2011 is better than 1983. They have a ANT Farm, Hannah Montana, Lemonade Mouth and more and more and more. The all new show Shake It Up is the hit of this year and Disney Channel reached highest rating in 2010. Your comments is stupid!

  • Hello, new disney executives, I want to play a game. This is no ordanary game, this is a game of past, present, life, or death. The device your straped to will destroy your nervous system in 5 minutes. To stop the reaction, you must restore the disney channel back to it's 80's state. The timer will start when 40 saw fans and 80's disney channel fans like this comment. Let the games begin.

  • Someone sees advertisment for disney channel and calls thier cable compony which they outsourced thier jobs so people from 2011 were answering calls for people of 1983

Cable Operator: Hello this is **** (name cencored because i cant think of one) how can i help you.

Person: Can you get the disney channel

Cable Operator: Okay you want Miley Cyrus Drunk Pants and Solena Gomez not a star and thier neighbor phineasward.

Person: What the hell is that

Cable Operator: then u can hear YOUR FIRED

  • While I'm not the kind of loser who'll moan and gripe about how everything new sucks and all that BS, I WILL admit that the Disney Channel should have stuff like this again.

  • disney channel is not the same without mickeymouse and mr owl from disney sing along songs get rid of hanna and furb and zack and cody

  • Disney Channel used to be great when they showed all the classic Disney. now its just pure crap.

Oh how I wish my son caoulde grow watching the old Disney Channel.

  • OMG TRON!!!!!

  • You know what's interesting. Now they have many of those channels (the Family Channel, The History Channel, The Learning Channel, etc.)

  • The Good ol days of Disney. Disney you NEED to get back to your roots.

  • man back in the day before all the tween shows and the ads. the show sould show in full not take brakes to promote other shows.

  • what was disney channel like in the 80's

  • They just don't have shows like "Welcome to Pooh Corner" anymore - 4:50 - 4:58, 5:57 - 5:59, 6:29 - 6:33

  • Why can't Disney Channel still be like this? It's really sensational. I love Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Goofy, Daisy & Pluto. There have been great TV Shows, Smart Guy, Dinosaurs, Boy Meets World, Ducktales and films like Aladdin, Robin Hood, Song Of The South, Pinochio, Sowrd In The Stone, Mary Poppins, Bedknobs & Broomsticks. I hate Hannah Montana, Wizards Of Waverly Place & Suite Life Of Zac & Cody. I love any Disney film with David Tomlinson in it, he's the king of Disney flicks.

  • does anybody else get a "big brother" feel from that disney satellite?

  • I thought Disney Channel had launched in 2000, or 2001! Whoa!

  • @basorexia No, that's just when the channel started to forsake its roots!

  • lol I think Disney Channel lost its view, it's not the same anymore.

  • @barbievale Yeah, because of all that, I now call it The Dismal Channel (and even that's an understatement!)!

  • Disney channel used to be all about education-entertainment through tv since they lunch Walt Disney World and then EPCOT. But now since the teens don't really want to be challenge they watch all most anything so they just put on what ever is the cheapest way it a shame. Come on teens tell them what you really want. The shows they have on now or do you like the old stuff as well. Disneyland kinda gone down hill as well but at lest they are trying in this falling economy

  • @1324TN Right or wrong, for any business that puts profit over everything else, like quality, you will lose things like what the original vision of the Disney Channel was and get what it has become. For years The Disney Channel lagged behind Nickelodeon in viewership and, thus, profits. The company made a choice and that was to put on more Nick style shows and less of what you see in the promos posted here. It is just a fact. At least we have our memories.

  • @yensidnaf So true we do have our memories, at lest we still have the parks.

  • @yensidnaf Disney should have actually tried to BUY Nickelodeon from Viacom back in the 90's. That way Disney Channel would have remained the same for years to come, and Nickelodeon would have been the only channel airing teenybopper programs. That's my theory of what Disney should have done while Nick was on top of the game of kids' cable TV.

  • @yensidnaf I sort of like only a few new Disney channel shows, I only like Hannah Montana, Phineas and Ferb, and the High School Musical series. I am a fan of the "old" Disney Channel from 1983-2004

  • It's funny, in the 2nd promo he utters REAL channel names.

Wow, what is acceptable has changed sadly.

  • i almost forgot there was a point in time when disney channel wasn't dominated by promiscuous loli's. good times.

  • Just for kicks, I (regretfully) visited The Disney Channel's website today. It's strange how not a single one of the classic characters could be found anywhere on the home page. No association whatsoever. It's times like these when I deeply miss the mid-to-late '80s and early '90s channel that I grew up with.

  • Why can't TV presentations be this wonderful anymore?

  • What Show (Or Movie) Is At 0:47-0:48?

  • Is that Donald in drag at 0:36 or did they put his voice over Daisy? Haha.

  • @moccalou That was Daisy from "Mr. Duck Steps Out". She is voiced by Clarence Nash, the voice of Donald, in that cartoon.

  • Hey if ESPN, VH1 have classic channel, why Disney cant create one, thesy shoul have one classic channel to enjoy and remember those programs that have special moment

  • Come back Disney Channel. You made my childhood in the 80's (and even when I was already ages 10-13 in 1990-1993 so wonderful. The Golden Age of Disney was at this time. It's unwatchable now. It's pure garbage. Shame on you Disney Channel for killing the beauty and magic of Disney. It's supposed to be about dreams come true, magic and childhood. RIP Disney Channel, RIP innocence and childhood. I was a kid of the 80's and miss the original true Disney Channel. I liked it from 1983 to 1993.

  • The Disney Channel isn't the Disney Channel anymore. When I was a little girl, it stood for quality. Now look at it.

  • @JeterSwisherFan88 Yes, you can now call it "The Dismal Channel"!

  • @disneyfan81 ROTFL, 'Dismal Channel'

  • Wow, The Disney Channel logo back than looked cool for its time.

  • wait so are they making a channel for the GOOD AND REAL disney?

  • Where did you get these promotions, anyway?

  • @disneyfan85 Various sources over the years. Hope you like them.

  • I like them.

  • @yensidnaf I mean, where on TV did you find them?

  • @disneyfan85 TBH....it has been so long I really don't remember. Just feel lucky to have them. Enjoy!

  • The History Channel? Haha, if only they could see 11 years into the future.

  • The old Disney Channel may have 10,000times better than it is now, but that last song makes want smash my head against the wall.

  • I agree, but its better then "I'm Miley Virus and your watching Disney Channel!"

  • It was all good until they phased out Zoog Disney...

  • Now it's all Hannah Montanna, Jonas Brother bullcrap. Not a real Disney moment in site. The sad thing is there were days when they showed non-Disney programming! Heck, it's where I first was introduced to "Planet of the Apes", "2001: A Space Odyssey", Godzilla movies, and much much more! It was fantastic. I hate the way it's become.

  • Disney now feels like Nikelodeon back then it really had that disney feeling! I used to love the family films and the old black and white classic shows that ran troughout the night. Disney suck now , its a channel for pre-teen girls!

  • Anyone know the title of the film at 2:17, please? Thanks. :)

  • Please Disney we need the classics back on tv !!!!! :(

  • Instead of pulling the plug on Vault Disney altogether, they should have created a new channel called Vault Disney. All classics, all the time. Same way Nick at Nite spawned TV Land.

  • I was too young to remember these.

    But I still love 'em.

  • Disney Channel Was Great From 1983-2002!

  • God...I'd KILL to see this kind of greatness on television again. But sadly, it is not to be. The so called "evolution" of television is anything but. In the 80's and 90's, I could ALWAYS find something to watch on TV. Now, my choices are slim. If it weren't for the availability of classic animation on DVD, as I commented in another video, I wouldn't have a damn thing to watch.

  • Correct.

Now I'd just like to see the full sign-on film, with Jittlov as the Wizard.

  • And Mike Jittlov actually wrote the quirky little synthesized ditty we hear a part of at the end. (We can hear another part in that video from Jittlov's site where he shows us the satellite prop.)

  • It's unbearably ironic how many of those Whatever Channel names from 1:00-1:16 were taken by non-Disney channels.

  • Actually, The History Channel (now known as just plain History) is part owned by disney.

  • Indeed, maybe they should've patented those terms before announcing them.

  • The above vid. is what the Disney channel should be today!

Today's Disney is crap, garbage, and I never watch it!

  • The Disney Channel Was Great Until September 2, 2002 At 5:00A.M. When All Disney Classics Disapeared, And Now The Disney Channel Is Not So Great Anymore!

  • The Disney Channel Was Great Until September 2, 2002, When The Vault Disney Block Disappeared At 5:00A.M. It Became What It Is Today Sometimes Great!

  • The Disney Channel Was Cool Until September 2, 2002 At 5:00A.M. When Vault Disney Last Broadcast!

  • The Disney Channel First Broadcast April 18, 1983!

  • 26th year on the screen. It's past the network's 25th anniversary.

  • the singers for one of the spots sounds like America Sings

  • Is that the EPCOT font?

  • The Disney Channel was much better when it was a premium channel.

  • Wow, the Disney Channel has changed a lot, a WHOLE lot since its premiere.

  • disney channel was better then...

  • they had mickey mouse!lma0!!!!!!!!

  • Where did you get these anyway?

  • WOW!!!

  • O Disney Channel, where art thou?

  • @disneyfan85 Thou hast convinced Billy Ray Cyrus to sell his daughter's soul to the devil.

  • Egads! Pecos Bill has the cigarette in his mouth again!
