Airbags are loaded with Sodium Azide (a type of salt) that is very unstable. When ignited, it does respond like explosives, giving off huge amounts of Nitrogen gas (relative to the original charge).

it is indeed cornstarch, harmless. but have read that it may cause some minor allergic reaction if you're alergic to dust. at least you're conscious lol.
sorry, I don't have a high-speed camera. it's 30 FPS, so you can safely say that is is fully inflated in ONE frame = 1/30 of a second. That's learning...
The dog was all upset because we blocked him off the deck with the gate and he doesn't like it. Kana (his name) was surely and quickly shut up when the bag exploded. Kinda funny though because if you just listen to the audio and don't watch, it sounds like we shot him :(
