  • Wow probably the best instrumental alone I have heard from Andrew.

  • Andrew: I have been a great fan of yours since listening to your CD "The Heart of Celtic Guitar" for the first time some 15 years ago. Please make a quick video when playing your beautiful song "Karekare" so I can see how it is really played and improce my playing :-)

    /Kristian (from Sweden)

  • Awesome!

  • I love this piece, it's utterly beautiful. Being a guitar myself, I feel the need to resolve the song on an Asus2 chord, if this makes sense to anyone. I must learn this piece!

  • @cyboy1193 You're a guitar? COOL!!!!!

  • @randwolf13 Only on the weekends!

  • cant believe it only 6 trolls probably all gone to troll other poor unsuspecting artists

  • i think this is a bad lullaby. i don't get tired at all when i see him play this

  • @Anonymchen

the point is that the song is relaxing, not that it makes you tired

  • When I first heard this I thought it would be hard to play. It looks easy though. lol

  • You[ve got to be FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!! This is awesome!

  • im convinced true happiness exists after i listened to this song.

  • WHAT GUIATR IS THAT!!!! I LOVE IT! PLZ TELL ME!

  • Why doesn't this have like 10 million views?

  • Mr White, thank you for your music. I believe that only a person with pure soul can produce such a beauty. I wish you all the best and hope to hear more of your music. Best regards to you from Baku, Azerbaijan!

  • anyone know where to find a tab? and hes playing my dream acoustic, love yammies such a bright tone and clear sound, you can hear every note.

  • wow i wanna be like this

  • @452ist u wish :D, hes a genius. no everybody can just become geniuses u know

  • @cobycracker this style has been played by alot of players like don ross ..andy makee .. Antoine defour ... so he is nt a genius itz just a technique to play i wanna learn it

  • @452ist yeah but they started playing when they were little

  • haha, guys..that Yamaha is a LLX36C. It's not a cheap guitar... it retails at about £3000...(about $5000).

  • @Bigpineapple maybe so, but I'm semi-certain he'd sound equally incredible on anything. Provided it isn't destroyed.

  • @Bigpineapple worth every penny

  • omg I coud listen to this all day long!!

  • God, I love the sound of acoustics. White reminds me of why I bought a guitar.

  • So beautiful. Wonderful melody.

    Best wishes

    Staffan

  • Guys, calm down... any guitar would do.. as long as you know how to choose and buy a good guitar.

  • my god...so sweet like a water fall...no complication no fansy sound effects..just a normal guitar..yamaha too, just shows no need for fancy equipment just skills

  • @LazyMonky

Yamaha L series hand made acoustic guitar no fancy equipment?!? Lol

  • mm i think that is an acustic guitar, like a dreaghnout, but sorry my english is horrible and i not sure that this type of guitar is called dreaghnout.

    ah! i'm spanish jaja

  • He's playing a Yamaha guitar.

  • anyone knows what kind of guitar he's using?

  • It's a Yamaha Acoustic Guitar. I would guess it's a Yamaha LSX36C, but it's one of the L - Series for sure. Pretty expensive (round 3000 dollars) but extremely good sounding to my mind ; )

  • @mayakikum

Although White plays Yamaha, it looks like he plays Martin as well as shown in this video.

    Look at the headstock.

  • @mayakikun

Looks like it is a Yamaha on this tune.

That's good to know. I have 2 high end Yamaha's (6 and 12) and my Martin warped on me!

  • It's a Yamaha acoustic guitar.

    dunno which specific model.

  • I really enjoyed that you packed a lot of music into it and still got the melody very outstandingly clear. WEll done!

  • Bravo!!! magnifico!!

  • Lord deliver us from pop song structures

  • Oops, I meant to "thumbs up" that! Sorry!

  • does anybody know what happened to the video of his song red vick rag?

  • who cares about the technique? this song touches your soul man ! so pretty melodies and chords . .

  • I agree that in terms of compositions White might be better(still iffy), but it seems to me that Andys' technique and ingenuity pretty much beat Whites'.

either way, i enjoy both of them a lot, and both of them are to be respected for they're awesome creations.

  • what the FUCK.. how can you compare this guy's music to buckethead?... its like saying.. oh yeah guns and roses has some awesome melodies, but i like frank sinatra better.. you ignorant 12 year old

  • lol right?!

  • @saulamr

I'm not sure why you got on the defensive then.

Buckethead did some acoustic peices that I'm sure you are aware of and, to some people, it might sound similar.

  • u cant say hes better than andy mckee.... andy mckees songs are much more difficult to play so u could say andy mckee is better because he can play more difficult songs, but he isn't a worse guitarplayer because his songs arent as difficult as those by andy mckee. and hes also singing very good so you cant compare guitarplayers who play completely different styles of music.

  • There has never been a contest between them, so you can't say that andy mckee is better, you never know what andrew white can play and can't and trust me i can play drifting i'm sure that mr andrew can too...

  • thats what i wanted to say. andrew white can surely play the songs by andy mckee. so u cant say hes better or worse because nobody knows that.

  • like hell i can say that.

a person can compose&play the hardest piecee pn earth, but the piece wasn't well composed and doesn't sound well.

I enjoy Andy's compsitions, and think some of them are ingenious, but i think white is on a different level. he plays simple, yet extremely beautiful pieces, which, i feel, are emotionally deeper and more touching than any of andys'.

  • have u ever listened to for example "for my father" oder "rylynn" by andy? they're beautiful pieces too. so i think we prefer different styles of music.

  • again crazy man sounds awesome really inspiring style keep up the good work!

  • I agree with all of your choices on that CD idea but I think you should throw in some John Butler as well. These guys are all amazing guitarists.

  • I'd love to hear a collaborative cd, with this guy, Andy McKee, Dean Magraw, and Tommy Gauthier, since they not only have different styles, they would be perfect for playing off each other. Plus, I love Irish music, and White and Magraw play lots of it, and some fiddle would be great too. McKee's style doesn't seem as Irish as the other 2, but that's what would make it dynamic. He's got a great style all his own too. There's my ramble for today. This guy is sweet as hell, keep it coming White!!

  • I know what you mean; these guys have some great effects , meditative stuff but andrew here plays melodies and chord progressions too; sounds like music.

I think his music is one of the best . also enjoy dean Magraw.

    for the same reason.

  • Man -- this totally has HEAVY shades of Greenstone Waters (White//Powers) . . . or rather, this is probably the precursor. Amazing tune, prefer the reincarnation under the Harmonca//Guiatar setup of White/Powers though! Thx for being awesome!!

  • Andrew, very nice indeed. I am encouraged by your work and your art. The subtleties of accoustic guitar are better understood with this song. The art of discretion is shown in your effort. Thanks for the boost!

  • Very lovely, Andrew, great rhythm.

  • simply amazing please keep music like this alive it cant get any better than this

  • So many of the artists on Candy Rat are fantastic. I'm so happy I found these guys.

  • You gotta love.

  • ahhhhh I remember this cat back in the day with David Arkenstone. Good to see him still playing and better than ever. wow! beautiful

  • Sweet song really melodic. You can't really compare each candyrat artists they all have their own styles. Some are more melodic and others more experimental with their sounds but they are all very talented. It all comes down to personal preference who you prefer.

  • I'd say I prefer all of them.

  • @craigymc87 true say man. white and mckee for me, dufour for the real technical stuff

  • Yeah, im sure you have all the room in the world to talk, Mckee is amazing, in my opinion he is the best on the label. You couldnt hold a candle to any of those "hobos" anyway so why bash them?

  • thats a farily moronic statement to be perfectly honest. do you know anything of music or technical ability with the acoustic guitar. these guys realistically are the best in their game.

i personally would love to see you to better ^_^ post a vid up of you playing something to the same standard, and we can decide wether you're a hobo too ^_^

  • How do you go about writing something like this? I just can't understand where you get the inspiration! 0_o

  • ... wait, they write there own aswell? ... Jebus christ... i think i just jizzed through my ears ...

  • Just found this song and can't get enough of it! It makes me happy and sad and gives me contentment and longing all at the same time. Every emotion seems bound into this song with the gentle strength of silky spun spiderwebs. So timeless and ethereal! I want this song played at my funeral.

  • *give a bow*

    Boundless respect !

It's so beautiful, I really have to go back to school and learn some more. THAT IS playing guitar

  • i dont see how none of these guys on candy rat are big artists because they are amazing.. ive never heard tehm any where before other than on here and ive searched the internet and nobody seems to be after there music and i kno i am because its amazing but i just dont have the money to buy them off the website

  • Capo, Open E, Tuned High, Who Cares!! Just enjoy a Gentleman who has The Gift. Very few can carry Andrews Jock.

  • realmente unico, en su estilo

  • i love this guy's style, so smooth. He's got an annointing on him for sure. GREAT stuff

  • I was wondering why he didn't just play it without the capo...any ideas. It's a bit more of a stretch, but not bad. I kind of think it sounds nice lower. What a great melody.

  • He tuned i down to open D, then with the capo on it's back up to open E.

Wouldn't the harmonics be different? Also the tension on the strings would change too vs standard tuning with no capo.

I'm not sure really. just a guess

  • pretty much right and u cant rly argue with the result lol

  • @jbussa The tuning is DAD(F#Gb)AD :)

  • i love this song, the main riff is like rain drops awsome.. time to learn it

  • i dont get it.... why did he tune it to open d then capo it. why didnt he just tune it to open e?

  • because of the tension on the strings.

  • sorry for the beginner questions, but what are you saying exactly? That the strings couldnt support the tension of an open E tuning? If so, does everyone adjust by tuning to open d and then capo'ing or are there alternative ways of dealing with it?

  • im saying that when tuning to an open e the tension on the strings would be very high because all but the low e and high e would be tuned up basically. and i personally dont play with a capo 2 often but thats the way id do it if i played in open e.

  • optionally you could get lower gauge strings and tune them up higher but it wouldn't sound as good in EADGBE standard tuning is you did

  • and is it really worth going thought that effort for one song ? when you can just capo it, good idear tho sorry if that sounds bitchy its not intended that way

  • Can any1 share with me the tabs for this?

This song is so beautiful and simple.

  • This one is available for sale on the candrat website :)

  • Man i cant afford myself to pay 40$ for 3 music sheets..thats a rip off!

  • 40 bucks? I thought it was more like 15

  • yes it is 14.90 dollars. don't try to get everything for free. think about this man playing and trying to live with his music...

  • That was BEAUTIFUL.

  • tuning?

  • DADF#AD

  • I want to have sex with this melody.

  • is that a Taylor?

  • no, that's a yamaha L-series

  • Yamaha LLX36C. I would die to have this guitar! Money is the only barrier for me=[ and i don't have a job!

  • well dieing would do you no good for a deadman cannot play guitar.

  • True. You make a good point haha. Andrew's music feeds my soul. I cant get enough of it.

  • breath takingly beautiful. Easy listening. Love it.

  • Andrew White does what most musicians dream of! Along side Andy McKee, he is one of the most talented songwriter of our time. They both deserve way more respect. If heaven had music I assume this is what it sounds like. CandyRat Records thank-you for letting us hear all of your talented musicians. And thanks for keeping real music in the game! In a time where pro-tools and computers help musicians who aren't that great, a man and his guitar still win!

  • This is the first time I have heard Andrew's work. I have had Andy Mckee's cd for about a year. I don't think that any of these Candyrat guys have to wory about respect. They are not on Youtube because they are the underdogs, instead they are the new pioneers in this industry. I predict that in the future this type of advertising will prove to be the only way to compete in the industry. Before long other lables and their artists will have to learn to do the same or be left behind.

    Regards.

  • There a lot of great musician's out there.

Just because we like tech over anything else, doesnt mean they're bad musicians.

Most of them could play stuff like this any day.

I measure music in the artistic talent that the artist puts into it, and the amount of effort, the amount of heart and soul.

Any music is good music, as long as the artist threw everything they had into it. Period.

  • no imagine trying to protool that haha... ive never been good with music programs.. or multi effects units at that, but i know of a good musician when i see one.. effects are awesome when used in the right spots and not overdone.. but nothing beats the smooth crisp sound of that crafted talent...

  • @jlees1984 well said man...

  • @jlees1984 wow unreal. Thank god for music!

  • Wauuuuuuu me llego lejos!!!! jijij xD

  • Having trouble with the tuning on this one...

Is it supposed to go Down to D after the F# or does it go up an octave.

  • EADGBE => DADF#AD

  • so that would make it open e right?

  • Open D mate

  • Geordie pride !!

    Absoutely mind blowing.

  • Hi Andrew

    Wonderful, BELLÍSIMO!!!

    All the best!!!

    5* and + !!!

  • if this is a lullaby i wouldnt be able to sleep.

    it sounds SOOO good

  • Cool, The Vikings actually assaulted Lindisfarne back in 793.

    And, very well played!

  • Absolute slaughter.

  • lovely song...

  • divine

  • WOW

    WONDERFUL!

  • buy them like everyone else

  • can any one give me tabs for this...

    this is a legend

  • i want to have sex with this melody

  • Touching and mystical.

  • comment la musique peux te transporter vraiment? en ecoutant ça!!!!!!!

    merci monsieur

  • Awesome. Enough said.

  • I think this is a new candyrat favorite!

Right up there with Dufour's "Mother", Mckee's "Rylynn", and Ciluzzi's "Lullaby"

We need to all pool together and get a Candyrat Satellite Radio Station! All I'd have to do is finally buy satellite radio!

  • that is probably the best idea i ever heard ever to come out of a internet blog!

  • Agreed, I would definitely pay to hear that. It would actually make radio good ALL the time

  • evilduckee

thats exactly how i feel everytime i listen to a candyrat artist :D

they convey so much emotion through the songs that you really dont even know its a song at all its more like a message.

thats another thing i like about instrumental music is that you can apply whatever story you like to the music where lyrics bind you to one story the music made by an instrument can let your mind explore new regions that you didn't even know existed

  • I agree, word for word. The beauty in it is that so many stories can be told from one song, its up to your interpretation and experiences. Better yet, not a single word is needed to tell this story =)

  • ahem.

i never said i knew it all..

i said just when i THOUGHT i knew it all...

oh and i want any of you to go to any band competition and tell me what you hear.

i bet i have most of you haters licked when it comes to music theory.

    and besisdes.

musicians should build each other up...

    not put each other down..

    good day.

  • I personally don't play the guitar. But the guy who's playing there is playing well.

  • one of my favorite songs. Much more complex than meets the eye.

  • Beautiful tune!!! Just Perfect!!!

  • Andrew's Spanish gentleman, and this lullaby are my favorite.

  • There is so much feeling in these songs...........its like a story. a beautifull story

  • I totally agree. Whenever I listen to Andrew White's songs I feel like I'm listening to a story unfold. It's a magical feeling.

  • WoW, Andrew's guitar is prolly my favourite Candyrat Artist's guitar!

This is my favourite Andrew White song as well

  • that's a patetic remark, if you are into music, and musicianship, just when I thought i learned it all, and you cannot finger pick??? pfff

  • It is not your place to judge other people on their own ability, unless you want to be judged on yours.

So whats it to you if he can't fingerpick? Can you sweep pick? Doubt it.

No single person can do it all. Not Andrew, Andy, Antoine, or Michael Hedges.

I think it may have been you who made the pathetic remark.

  • and i know that you did not understand why the remark.

it's not the coment bout not knowing how to fingerpick.

it's the remark he knowing it all.

nobody is born knowing how to do stuff, but saying just when i knew it all. . . specially when it comes to music.

wich i allready explained, if you would have read, but ok never mind

let's not turn this into another conversation that moves away from the ponit of posting here.

    andrew rocks

  • It ends especially well.

  • This rocks.

  • Ya man, songs without works....idiot...

  • Punctuation, please? ;-;

    Anyhow, lovely song.

  • does anyone know where i can get his c.d heart of celtic guitar has my favorite song greenstone waters i think it's also called diggers rag i might be mistaken but i think he changed it to diggers rag or vice versa but my favorite c.d of his but all are amazing

  • you can find it on Amazon, but you have to pay a pretty penny. apparently the CD is rare? 60 bucks for a used 14 track CD is a little absurd...

  • I revoke my previous statement. Open google, type in the heart of celtic guitar and click on the classics online link it open a webpage where you can download the mp3s individually for $1-2 or download the whole album for $9.99.

  • okay i checked this over a bunch of times and i figured out that this is the EXACT recording that is one the actual album. i find that awesome.

  • open D

  • What tuning is this?

  • DADF#AD

  • I just bought the music and found out the tuning...but thanks for responding. :)

  • Man I love to just close my eyes and sit back and get lost in this song...

  • amazin how acid can do that . i think im gonna go burn my guitars after hearin that .

  • i played this good one time in an acid trip..

  • are u sure u werent just rolling on the ground yelling and playing air guitar?

  • you not see that epesode of Famlyguy where louis and peter do a gig and how it real sounded at the end :)

  • Pure magic and beauty... Does anyone know if Andrew plays with his nails or his skin (aside from the thumb pick)?? I just can't wrap my head around how he gets that magical sound...

  • looks like skin to me... thats just me. im curious also

  • this song makes me cry and laugh at the same times......so much emotionsssss, so good song

  • kickass! this guy pwns

  • too good

  • Can't believe youtube doesn't have what is in my opinion his best song : Mysterious Ways.

    - Check it out if you can, it's ridiculous how many times I've listened to it.

  • definition of beauty

  • Incredible, Andrew.

For those who might think it interesting, Lindisfarne is also called "Holy Island," which is another of Andrew White's Songs.

  • thanks!

  • you should get yourself there.

It's one of the special places here on eath.

I will do a guitar retreat there one day......

  • That is such an awesome song!

  • the guitar is special-tuned.

    D A D F# A D

at last it is not impossible to write down the keys by yourself. try it!

  • your right about the tabs. i bought them too and i was struggling with the 6/8 rhythm. but after playing along with this guy it all works out. bit by bit. its fun though

  • i bought the tabs and they are perfect!
