Looking at the US mint website, we know in Jan 2011, silver went down, and in sept 2011, it went way down.  Those two down months had the largest sales of silver bullion by the mint in the past 20 years. It seems like people bought physical after the drops.

@deanmat Yeah but their is huge demand, but the price isn't going up. I think because demand has only been good in those couple of months is because main stream hasn't really decided to dip in yet. I mean I don't know if they can afford. I think the prices are topping out unless their is going to be a big swing before christmas. Its hard to c it actually dropping like %20 anymore. %5 or %10 is just going to be a spring board

Exemptions have been established for hedging operations and positions established in good faith before....

JP Morgan will put themselves in this exemption bin for sure.

If there was a shortage, 25% of zero is zero. That would screw this new rule.

Cristian, I wish I had your resources. A graph showing both silver price and US MINT Sales would be amazing. That covers physical investment demand fairly nicely. Is there anywhere to look for silver industrial demand?

Everyone should check out the numbers for the US MINT sales of silver. They are quite interesting. Cristian, one of the people working back ther must have put these numbers on a graph.  Does such a graph exist?

"us mint bullion sales for September". Of you google that, you should find the September numbers he's speaking of. He is right. It see,s January of this year was the month that beat this September. And, it looks like oct is going to have just as many sales (people buying silver eagles) as sept did.

I have been searching the US mints website for a while and I can't find the figures for specific months anywhere. If this is true, it would really boost their confidence to see a link or to have a description of where in the website those stats are. Thank you.

25% of ESTIMATED deliverable supply could be anything though ! unless they are going to be audited every day, im not sure this will change things.

Part of the final rulemaking is that 1 years worth of current data will be analyzed to see how much physical is actually delivered and the estimates will be based on that. The CFTC also suggested that based on the outcome of that Data compilation, the 25% position limit could be adjusted...it does move things in the right direction, which is good. Thanks for watching

expect gold and silver to be taken down in order for the banks to cover. what people don't now is that JPM has to unwind those silver derivatives and I don't think 60 days will be enough time to unwind and cover those short in and orderly fashion. Expect gold and silver to be taken down in a hasty fashion. The rule wont take effect for 60 days.
