I saw a baby possum weeks ago, it was standing on top of the fance playing dead when my mom tries to take a picture of it and dad holding a lantern for mom to see the possum, all of the sudden it started to hissed at dad cause he accidently touch the possum's tail X3
@burnbluefox he wasn't trying to hurt him. He was trig to scar him away because his dogs were scaring him. Its not his fault his dogs are barking at it. He through a thing of meat at it because he thought it was hungry. He could have been like every other jerk and killed it have his dogs eat it.
Imagine if larger species did this to us. There humongous beast barking at an orphaned infant. They look at it in shock poke it with a stick trying to scare it away. And when the baby doesn't move out of sheer terror the large creature throws a humongous meatlog, as big as the baby, at its face.
Just in case you find an opossum in the future, don't try giving it hot dogs or anything that may have beef in it, as well as cat or dog food; those are some of the few things that they cannot eat. Boneless poultry or nearly any vegetable will do, though! :]
ha i had the same scenario. my dogs were barking at something outside and when i went to investigate, theres a small possum sitting behind the fence without a plan
you're a good man beta. i once found a abaondoned baby possum in some rubble in my parents garage when i was a young boy. its mother had been terrorizing and attacking our cat to the point of near death... so my father killed it... but we had no clue that she was a mother trying to reach and feed her young. i tried so hard to heal it and nurse it back to health with my mom, but alas poor young "squeeker" as i had named him died. this video made me feel good, like it made up for squeekers loss ty
today i went with my mom to the flower shop and there was a baby possum there cause its mom got hit so i had to pick him and save him i didnt even have gloves but does matter cause he didnt try to bite me i named him murgurgul and let him free at a forest nere my house
My mom feeds the stray cats at night,& we had some possoms move in for the food.a mom,& her youngens.after a while, one kept coming back.the little trouble maker one!Came for a year & half, before my mom found him run over at the far end of the street.Very sad.the little shit was almost a pet!
UR MEAN!!! DONT POKE IT WITH A STICK! IT JUST A BABY! YOU SHOULD OF HAVE ATLEAST GOT ON GARDENING GLOVES AND PICKED HIM UP! but it was nice of you to give him food :)
I was being gentle with the stick, just trying to shew it on its way and away from my dogs. I gave it to a friend of mine that takes in lost critters.
Sorry rainbow but your pathetic! Given a guy a hard time for helping an animal! stop looking for something to bitch and moan about, and try doing some good in this world yourself!
yeah, my dog kills big raccoons and possums all the time. One time she was flinging a possum back and forth and the babies on its back were thrown all over the place, it was a fucking mess, fuck these things, they are violent little assholes, docile my ass.
violent? yes. little? no. Have you ever encountered one of these fuckers at night, shit when I go running at night, these little assholes will attack you.
@wesker1998 They're not that violent, i've been with possums a lot and they never jumped on me or bit me. They only attack if they feel threatened. If you dont like them, then stay away and keep your dog away from the and they wont bother you.
fair enough, but if I leave my dog outside for a period of time during the night and one just happens to make the mistake of wandering into the yard, there is not much I can do and I wont stop any attack because if I distract my dog, she could get hurt by the possum while she is not paying attention. Dont worry there are plenty of these bastards all over the place.
and by the way, one of these little assholes tried to bite me while I was running at night, so yes I would consider them violent. After all, they are wild animals.
nice man, u got a good heart. i had a little pos. i feed around my house for a while , must of been the size of a rat when i 1st saw it, they grow fast lol. they like can'd cat food.
Thank you sooo much. Your a doll for feeding this little creature. I found one this size on my front porch last night. No mother is in site. A racoon probably got her. They are abundant here. I can't get it to eat. Your video has helped as maybe I need to leave it alone in a private place to relax with it's food.
Thanx again. Please keep us all clued in as to what happened to your baby possum and if you are still feeding it.
Give it some chicken, baby food mixed with cat food. They eat slugs, rats, mice, snakes, etc. They are immune to rabies and poisonous snake bites. They are also very docile.
HI ligeiaw !, just wanted to tell you, My little oppossum I found on my porch, months back, grew halfway to adult size. She lived at one end of my house, hid inbetween the boxes. She only came out to sit on top of my oriental divider to watch us all, including my 3 little dogs. She was so adorable. I soon learned what foods were her favs by putting platefuls of dif. samples down each night . I named her Possibly Possum. She kept going to the door, finnally I let her out, Feed her at night.
Why does everybody poke us possum with a stick? However thanks for feeding my little buddy and being kind to him. Sometimes us possum could not make without the kindness from humans like you. Spud O'Possum
you can hold diseases idiot, you can have aids and cancer and fucking TB...

people who spread his kind of ignorant mis-information get opossums killed and tortured all the time. They are VERY beneficial animals. They are "nature's sanitizers." They also eat, rats, mice, roaches, slugs, and fruit and veg., (but only if they are over-ripe or rotten). They are immune to rabies and most diseases; they are very sweet and non-aggressive. They are a great creature to have around.
they are not "violent." They are very docile. I have raised and released them. Opossums will not chase you or jump onyou; raccoons, however, WILL. Opossums have very few diseases humans can catch; they do not get rabies. They eat rats, roaches, snakes, slugs, carrion, and only over ripe fruit and veg.; they are very beneficial animals.
Got a baby Possum that keeps getting in my house and coming in my toom. 4th time iv got him. tonight. seen him and got him the past 4 nights and took him in the backyard and came back in. Was not an hr b4 i let him back out. that he was somehow back in my room. Did not catch him this time, Looked it up. Possums Leave there mother after they weight over 1/2 a pound. dont seem like that much to me. So mine is about the size of yours. so even your momma was still alive it would be with probbley
heh just found him again. out out again, was not out there for an hr b4 i look over and he comes prancing back into my room. So i cought him again and put him out in the front yard this time. Told mom i should just put some cat food in my room and let him stay. heh she was not to into the idea tho =P
While no one should unadvisedly pick up a wild animal and bring it home and hope for sunshine, there are places (animal control/vets) that can provide the critters with vaccines and the like, and honestly...there's nothing wrong with possums as pets. Rather have one than a pit-bull.
OMG today was so sad, like i just wanted to bitch slap my mother for this, because there was a baby possum that was crawling on our driveaway area and it wasn't do anything and she grabbed a broomstick and started hitting the poor thing until it stopped breathing :(
yeah my mom didnt know what it was, she thought it was a rat and started screaming and freakin out and just started hitting the sh*t out of the poor animal
Most people shoot racoons and possums, thank U 4 caring about the cutie. I think every animal is cute, especially possums.... But probably beacues I used 2 have a possum stuffed animal when I was little.
I have a small room with a sliding door and found 6 tiny ones, we didnt know we were sleeping and at night they were crawling on us as we slept. Horrifying when we findly found 1 and then found 5 more in a super super small room.
Aww, what a sweet little baby. My mom found one all alone here and we helped raise her. She loooved blueberry yogurt and scrambled eggs. ^^ Cute video.
That is so right i have one that comes in my garage at night.I have kittens and cats it does'nt hurt them he is really kind of cute he likes to hang out with them,he stays in there all night then leaves when the sun is coming out.
You're a good guy. Hope it works out well. The little guy is not a baby, and can fend for himself now, I think. If you move him into the woods, he'll be ok.
hay i think u are nice but u should not have touched cuz i found a possum and its mom came like 2 days later she was gathering food and came 2 pick him back up so u proubly should have left it i am currently uploading my possim vids hope u see em
Great to see you respecing and caring for that little lost soul, sir. It's a beautiful thing to see a person reaching out to something or someone that is weak and disadvantaged.
Ain't he though... I bet them teeth are not so nice. I have a friend that takes in wild critters that lose their way, What a treat that is to visit his little farm...
Possums are really very sweet..but, I sure wouldn't want one for a pet! Have you seen their teeth? Whoa! They are sharp, and there sure are a whole lotta them! LOL!
But,I think that you did something okay! Just maybe you gotta let this one deal with it's own life...(it is hard to watch a possum baby suffer..but, at the same time...you don't want to get bit, do you?)
Well, that's kind of what I was thinking when I watched this particular video..but, I hope that it lives, ya know?!!
Sha, poor little bebe! XD Is that a twinkie you gave it? They really are so precious though. And so very soft. My dad's a vet and someone brought a mom opossum in one time her dog had attacked. So Dad had me help him hold it down while he removed the ruined eye, her babies hiding their heads in her pouch. Their fur is so much softer than even a rabbit's despite how they look.
wow you poke at it with a stick and then give a weiner...assult it and say it has a wgt problem...Just kidding great vid. but how it now? you should do a seires
That was a great video.... as someone who works with opossums like myself, it's a great thing to know that there are people out there like you. Thank you for this video, that baby is soo precious. :)
I work with a wildlife rehabilitator and have a non-releasable opossum that lives with me. She's so gentle, clean, and docile. She uses a litter box too! Thank you for being so kind to this little one. Like Mental Rob said above, they do a lot of good for the environment.
Very cute! Thank you for being kind to such a beautiful little creature. You have a good heart. Possums are misunderstood, they are great to have around, they eat bugs and roachs and are very clean and don't get rabbis. They also don't dig or destroy proporty. The possums around my place I feed them bread and they love brocolli.
Great video! The little guy/girl is about 2.5 to 3 months old...right about the age they leave mom naturally. As a wildlife rehabilitator I have raised many. They are about the size of a pea when they are born and remain in the pouch until about 2 months old when they begin coming out and clinging to mom's back.
I love this so much. Thank you for taking care of him, even if it was for a day! I have never seen a possum eat a hot dog.

You're a good guy. Hope it works out well. The little guy is not a baby, and can fend for himself now, I think. If you move him into the woods, he'll be ok.

Thanx, and yeah for sure I wanted to pick that little thing up and help it all I could but he didn't know that and was scared to death.
BetaFlux 4 years ago
Adorable! Thanx for helping the baby. That was very kind of you.

Thankx, I couldn't help but feel sorry for it.

Ohnymgod, that was so adorable. good job =)
But next time, if its a baby, try feeding it milk instead of a hotdog =P

he was a cute little possum. have you seen him recently?
unholy2790 4 years ago
I took him to a friend of mine that takes care of lost critters like that.
BetaFlux 4 years ago
Great to see you respecing and caring for that little lost soul, sir. It's a beautiful thing to see a person reaching out to something or someone that is weak and disadvantaged.
andy3576 4 years ago
that little guy is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.
andy3576 4 years ago
Ain't he though... I bet them teeth are not so nice. I have a friend that takes in wild critters that lose their way, What a treat that is to visit his little farm...
BetaFlux 4 years ago
what did you feed him?
koronkax 4 years ago
a little piece of hotdog
BetaFlux 4 years ago
hehe how cute, but i thought possums are vegeterian, a friend of mine from goldcoast said they only eat sweet stuff?
koronkax 4 years ago
Your probably right.
BetaFlux 4 years ago
well he ate the hotdog so i assume hes not a vegeterian possum =)
koronkax 4 years ago
Unless he was really really hungry. :}
BetaFlux 4 years ago
They are omnivorous. They eat everything we eat. Meat, fruit, vegis, and of course will eat junk food if given the chance. ;)

Well, that's kind of what I was thinking when I watched this particular video..but, I hope that it lives, ya know?!!

you mention those scary teeth. But in truth cats teeth are worse. ;) And I ahve seen a few meaner cats than baby opossums. ;)
shnookey1979 3 years ago
Possums are Amrerica's only marsupial (like a kangaroo).
toasterpastrie 4 years ago
Sha, poor little bebe! XD Is that a twinkie you gave it? They really are so precious though. And so very soft. My dad's a vet and someone brought a mom opossum in one time her dog had attacked. So Dad had me help him hold it down while he removed the ruined eye, her babies hiding their heads in her pouch. Their fur is so much softer than even a rabbit's despite how they look.

I work with a wildlife rehabilitator and have a non-releasable opossum that lives with me. She's so gentle, clean, and docile. She uses a litter box too! Thank you for being so kind to this little one. Like Mental Rob said above, they do a lot of good for the environment.

Enjoyed your opossum video...Losts of good close ups!

MentalRob 5 years ago
Great video! The little guy/girl is about 2.5 to 3 months old...right about the age they leave mom naturally. As a wildlife rehabilitator I have raised many. They are about the size of a pea when they are born and remain in the pouch until about 2 months old when they begin coming out and clinging to mom's back.
